Stop Stick® Deployment Safely Ends Violent Crime Spree in Delta County

Delta, Colorado – A multi-agency response involving the Delta County Sheriff’s Office, Mesa County Sheriff’s Office, and Palisades Police Department successfully apprehended a violent suspect following a high-speed pursuit, thanks to the strategic use of Stop Stick® tire deflation devices.
The incident began with a reported shooting at a Golden Gate Gas station in Palisades. Officers arrived to find a victim suffering from a gunshot wound.
A suspect vehicle was identified, and Mesa County Sheriff’s Deputies initiated a pursuit. The suspect refused to yield, reaching speeds of 120 mph. The pursuit continued into Delta County, where a strategically positioned Delta County Sheriff’s Deputy deployed Stop Stick®.
The Stop Stick® successfully disabled three of the fleeing vehicle’s tires, bringing the pursuit to a safe conclusion. The suspect was apprehended without further incident.

Investigation Reveals More

The initial assumption of a carjacking was revised during the investigation. A second suspect was identified, and it was determined that the events stemmed from a drug deal gone wrong.
This case exemplifies the effectiveness of Stop Stick® in bringing dangerous pursuits to a safe conclusion. By utilizing Stop Stick®, law enforcement officers were able to apprehend a violent suspect while minimizing the risk to the public and officers themselves.

Stop Stick® Plays Key Role in Columbus Police Department’s Operation Burnout

Columbus, Ohio – In a decisive victory against illegal street takeovers, the Columbus Police Department successfully disrupted and apprehended participants through a strategic sting operation codenamed “Operation Burnout.” Stop Stick® tire deflation devices played a critical role in this large-scale operation, preventing escapes and ensuring public safety.
Operation Burnout: Taking Back the Streets
Acting on tips regarding a planned large gathering, Columbus Police launched Operation Burnout over the first weekend of October. Officers responded to multiple reports of reckless driving and illegal takeovers at intersections and parking lots throughout the city.
To effectively contain these events and prevent escapes, Columbus Police implemented a perimeter strategy utilizing Stop Stick®. These tire deflation devices were deployed around event locations and at all potential exit points.
Stop Stick® Thwarts Fleeing Attempts
The strategic use of Stop Stick® proved highly successful. Throughout Operation Burnout, Stop Stick® was deployed on over 100 vehicles attempting to flee the illegal gatherings. This decisive action by law enforcement directly resulted in:

186 Arrests: Individuals involved in the illegal activities were apprehended and held accountable.
69 Vehicles Impounded: Vehicles used in the takeovers were removed from the streets, preventing further disruptions.
16 Illegal Firearms Seized: The operation helped to remove dangerous weapons from circulation.

Wyoming Highway Patrol Brings High-Speed Pursuit to a Safe End with Strategic Stop Stick® Deployment

Cheynne, Wyoming – A dangerous high-speed pursuit involving a kidnapping suspect was brought to a safe conclusion thanks to the strategic deployment of Stop Stick® tire deflation devices by the Wyoming Highway Patrol (WHP).

The incident began when law enforcement agencies, including the Cheyenne Police Department and the Laramie County Sheriff’s Office, pursued a vehicle suspected of kidnapping a juvenile female runaway. The suspect driver engaged in reckless driving behavior, exceeding speeds and swerving in and out of traffic to evade capture.
Recognizing the imminent danger, Trooper Simmer with the WHP coordinated with pursuing agencies and strategically positioned Stop Stick® devices ahead of the fleeing vehicle. As the suspect approached, Trooper Simmer successfully deployed Stop Stick®, effectively deflating three of the vehicle’s tires.

The disabled vehicle brought the pursuit to a safe and controlled stop. The suspect was apprehended, and the juvenile runaway was safely recovered and reunited with her family.
This successful operation highlights the critical role Stop Stick® plays in public safety. By safely disabling the fleeing vehicle, Stop Stick® helped to minimize the risk to the public, pursuing officers, and the suspect.

Mooresville Police Utilize Stop Stick to put a Safe and Quick End to a Pursuit that Would Reveal More Than They Anticipated

Mooresville, North Carolina – Mooresville, NC – We have reached out to the Mooresville Police Department and are currently awaiting more information about the deployment and case.
Mooresville Police found themselves arresting an individual that resulted in multiple Felony Charges including kidnapping.
Suspect fled from police after Mooresville Police attempted to stop the suspect for erratic driving. Stop Sticks were utilized less than 5 mins after the pursuit began and quickly ended the pursuit resulting in officer being able to take the suspect into custody, and charge the individual with DWI, Traffic Violations, Kidnapping Felony Fleet to Elude, and Resisting and Disorderly Conduct.
