EAGAN, MINNESOTA —In the early hours of Sunday morning, September 15, 2024, a stolen Ford Explorer led officers from the Eagan Police Department on a dangerous high-speed pursuit through the south metro area before the vehicle was eventually disabled, and two suspects were apprehended.
At approximately 12:32 a.m., officers with the Eagan Police Department identified the stolen vehicle near Rahn Road and Shale Lane in Eagan. When they attempted to pull the car over, the driver, later identified as 21-year-old Husayn Braveheart, fled, resulting in a pursuit. The chase eventually ended up on northbound Cedar Avenue from Diffley Road, heading toward the Twin Cities, with the vehicle reaching speeds over 100 mph.
Police employed multiple strategies to stop the fleeing SUV, including spike strips and a pit maneuver. The vehicle was finally disabled near 44th Street and 4th Avenue South in Minneapolis. Both occupants, a male and a female, exited the vehicle and fled on foot. Richfield Police quickly located and apprehended the suspects with help from the Minnesota State Patrol air support. Braveheart was arrested and booked into Dakota County Jail on charges of alleged felony fleeing in a motor vehicle and felony receiving stolen property. The female suspect, whose name has not been released, is also in custody.
The pursuit involved multiple assisting agencies, including Bloomington Police, Minnesota State Patrol, Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office, Richfield Police, and Minneapolis Police.
Braveheart has a history of violent crime. In June 2019, just before his 16th birthday, he and an accomplice, Jared Ohsman, were involved in a fatal carjacking in northeast Minneapolis. During the attempted robbery, both teens fired shots at the victim, 39-year-old Steve Markey. While Ohsman’s bullet was the one that proved fatal, Braveheart was charged for his role in the crime.
