WINDSOR, Conn. (WFSB) – A man is arrested for stealing a fire truck, and equipment, and fleeing on Saturday morning.

According to the Windsor Police Department, at around 3:39 a.m. officers were deployed to the Hayden Station Firehouse for reports of a burglary.

When police arrived, they located a suspect who had broken a television, stole several tools from a fire vehicle, and also stole a Windsor Fire Department SUV from their garage.

The suspect also left the gas stove on and started a small fire in the garage.

 

Massachusetts State Police then received multiple 911 calls of a fire department vehicle that was trying to conduct motor vehicle stops on Route 91 near Northampton and Whatley.

The suspect driving the pickup truck would activate the emergency lights, interact with vehicles while attempting to conduct traffic stops and did not properly identify himself.

Officers were able to stop the vehicle on Interstate 91 in Deerfield and conducted a traffic stop. The suspected driver of the vehicle tried to pull over briefly before trying to flee from police.

Local police and state troopers then pursued the individual and deployed stop sticks and finally stopped the vehicle and took the driver into the custody.

 

The suspect has been identified as 46-year-old Kristian Avery of Windsor.

Casey Crime Investigation detectives have charged four teenagers after a series of alleged burglaries and robberies in the southeast last week.

A stolen Hyundai Accent sedan had been seen in the vicinity of a series of cigarette burglaries and other offenses between 15 and 17 January.

Patrolling officers sighted the vehicle entering the Monash Freeway from Eastlink at about 1.30am on 17 January.

The Air Wing was called in to follow the vehicle and stop sticks were successfully deployed, causing the car to come to rest at Broad Oak Drive in Cranbourne.

Police seized approximately 920 packets of cigarettes from the vehicle as well as a number of other suspected stolen items.

ST. LOUIS – Two people are in custody after a police chase ends in a crash in south St. Louis.

Police say District One officers spotted a car linked to a robbery around noon Saturday. When they tried to pull it over, the driver took off.

Officers put down spike strips during the pursuit. It ended when the car crashed into a fence near South Broadway and Itaska Street.

ROSS COUNTY, Ohio — Authorities arrested a man earlier this week after he allegedly stole a marked Ohio State Highway Patrol cruiser and led officers on a 16-minute pursuit, WBNS reported.

The incident began just before 2:15 a.m. Tuesday when a marked Dodge Charger patrol car was stolen while left running outside the Chillicothe Patrol Post, according to OSHP. Using GPS technology, troopers tracked the vehicle heading south on state Route 772.

When troopers attempted to initiate a traffic stop, the suspect refused to comply and continued driving, according to the report. The pursuit proceeded south on Route 772 before the suspect turned around at a gas station and headed north toward Chillicothe.

Video shows officers from the Chillicothe Police Department deploying stop sticks, successfully bringing the pursuit to an end. Dash camera footage showed troopers ordering the suspect out of the vehicle at gunpoint. He crawled out of the driver’s side window and surrendered without further incident.

Zerbe Township, Pa. — A 40-year-old man stepped on the gas and fled in his vehicle when a trooper went to open his door during a traffic stop on Route 225, police say.

Trooper Andrew Fritz of PSP Stonington pulled over Kendall Leroy Griffith, 40, of Mount Carmel on Dec. 27 in Zerbe Township after he noticed a brake light was out on the vehicle.

When Fritz approached the vehicle, he noticed an odor of marijuana. Griffith gave Fritz a New York state ID card with a different name on it, according to the affidavit.

As Griffith reached for his paperwork, Fritz reportedly saw a pocketknife and a plastic bag which appeared to contain a tightly-wrapped plastic package. When questioned, Griffith told Fritz the bag contained his pocket knife and hat and it was “just bags” in his pocket, according to the affidavit.

 

Fritz asked Griffith to step out of the vehicle. Fritz was just opening the door of the vehicle when Griffith allegedly put it in drive and took off at a high rate of speed. Police chased Griffith for approximately eight miles, as he went up to 80 mph in a 45 mph zone. Griffith also turned off his headlights in an attempt to elude police.

The Pinebluff Police Department announced in a press release that the Moore County Traffic Safety Task Force participated in a North Carolina Governors Highway Safety Program’s multiagency high visibility enforcement and saturation event on Jan. 18. The event began at 4 p.m. with a one-hour briefing of all officers and concluded at 8 p.m.

The Pinebluff Police Department hosted this event in the area of U.S. Highway 1, from Windy Hill Road to Addor Road. Officers from the Pinebluff Police, Foxfire Police, Vass Police, Aberdeen Police, Carthage Police, and North Carolina State Highway Patrol attended.

In addition to officers attending the event, the North Carolina Booze It/Loose It- Bat Mobile and representatives from Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) were also present. In total, 18 North Carolina law enforcement officers were present on the scene to help enforce the laws of our North Carolina roads.

A police pursuit of an alleged stolen semi-truck took place Saturday afternoon through Butler County and ended with the driver in custody.

Dispatchers said the pursuit started around 12:45 p.m. in Middletown and traveled along U.S. 127. It ended after 2 p.m. when the driver was taken into custody.

Video shared by witnesses on social media shows multiple police vehicles following a white semi-cab past Couchs grocery market in New Miami.

In one video shared with WCPO, the person filming said a headlight on the cab was not working. No trailer was attached.

A high-speed chase led from I-95 to the parking lot of a bar in Falls Township’s Levittown section last week.

According to the Pennsylvania State Police, a trooper spotted a gray Jeep Cherokee traveling the wrong way northbound in the southbound lanes of I-95 in Bensalem Township at 11:57 p.m. last Monday.

The trooper switched on his vehicle’s emergency lights and sirens, but Michael Paul Humphrey (40) of Morrisville did not stop, state police said.

The Jeep reached speeds of 120 mph and narrowly avoided a head-on collision as it swerved across lanes, state police said.

State police said the trooper who was trailing Humphrey began to believe the 40-year-old man was under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance. Consequently, the trooper terminated the pursuit near the Bristol Exit for the safety of other motorists.

The pursuit resumed in Bristol Township when a Philadelphia-based trooper attempted to stop Humphrey in the area of Airport Road and Green Lane using a Precision Immobilization Technique (PIT). The maneuver temporarily disabled the vehicle. However, Humphrey managed to regain control and continued fleeing, state police said.
