MORGAN COUNTY, Ind. — An early morning Morgan County police chase ended with two people being arrested on gun and drug charges after officers found meth and guns in their car.

Nolan Collins, 28, of Martinsville – the alleged driver in the pursuit – was booked into jail and charged with meth possession, unlawful handgun possession, resisting law enforcement, driving while suspended and more. The passenger – 24-year-old Kaylynn Thompson of Bloomington – faces meth and marijuana charges.

The two were arrested after an early morning police pursuit throughout Morgan County. A sheriff’s deputy was patrolling around 3:45 a.m. Friday near the intersection of E. Washington Street and Home Avenue in Martinsville when he reportedly saw a car commit a traffic violation.

The driver of the Toyota Corolla reportedly turned off the lights and continued southbound on Grant Street. The deputy followed behind the Corolla and reportedly saw the driver quickly accelerate westbound on Walnut Street after turning the car’s lights back on.

The deputy then attempted to pull over the driver, but police said he “failed to comply.” Rather, Collins reportedly tried to evade the deputy through several streets and one yard.

https://www.wbiw.com/2024/12/28/indianapolis-man-arrested-after-high-speed-pursuit-and-crash-on-i-69

GIBSON/DAVIESS CO. — A high-speed pursuit ended in a crash and the arrest of a 24-year-old Indianapolis man on multiple charges on Thursday, December 26, after he led police on a dangerous chase along Interstate 69.

At approximately 1:32 p.m., Sergeant Kevin Brown of the Indiana State Police was patrolling I-69 near the 21-mile marker when he attempted to stop a 2020 Penske truck for violating the state’s left lane law. In addition to the violation, the driver also failed to maintain his lane, causing a coal truck driver to take evasive action by driving onto the emergency shoulder to avoid a sideswipe collision.

Despite the efforts to stop him, the driver of the Penske truck, later identified as Brice Alkema, 24, of Indianapolis, refused to pull over and continued traveling north at speeds of around 70 miles per hour. Police deployed stop sticks near Oakland City in an attempt to halt the vehicle, but Alkema was able to avoid them. A second attempt was made near the 38-mile marker in Pike County, where the driver ran over the stop sticks but managed to keep going.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Police arrested a woman outside of Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital. Specifically, this happened two days after she stole a car during a sleepover at a Frayser apartment complex, according to the Memphis Police Department (MPD).

The MPD said the woman joined two other women at a sleepover. This occurred at the Rolling Hills Apartments on Thursday, December 26. Significantly, the two women had never met the suspect before. Police say she left the sleepover early with a stolen car and two stolen phones.

Meanwhile, while the two women slept, the third woman stole a 2009 Nissan Altima and the women’s phones. Police said the stolen items were worth about $2,000 altogether.

However, two days later, on Saturday, December 28, officers received a crucial tip. They learned a stolen 2009 Nissan Altima had pulled into the Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital roundabout. This was near Dunlap Street and Poplar Avenue.

Officers confronted the woman in the stolen car. They ordered her to step out. But, the woman responded by locking the doors. Then, she put the stolen Altima in gear and sped off, the MPD said.

9. Stop Stick Saves: McCracken SO: Almo man arrested after 2-state pursuit – Kentucky

PADUCAH – The McCracken County Sheriff’s Office arrested an Almo man last week. Consequently, the arrest followed a vehicle pursuit across both Kentucky and Illinois. The man already faced multiple outstanding warrants.

According to a news release, McCracken County SO detectives located a vehicle on Tuesday, December 17. Specifically, they found the car, which they believed 42-year-old Wesley Alexander drove, at a hotel in Metropolis, Illinois. Alexander faced numerous warrants. These included bail jumping on a fentanyl trafficking case, parole violations, and several other offenses like fleeing police.

However, before Illinois authorities arrived, Alexander allegedly got into the vehicle and quickly left, the McCracken County SO reported. Therefore, detectives immediately followed the man on I-24 as he entered Kentucky. Alexander exited the interstate at Exit 3. A deputy tried to stop and arrest him there. Instead, Alexander allegedly fled back onto I-24 and crossed into Illinois. Subsequently, the Metropolis Police Department and the Massac County Sheriff’s Office soon assisted the pursuing deputies.

McCracken County SO reported that Alexander eventually tried to enter back into Kentucky via the Brookport Bridge. Crucially, McCracken County deputies were waiting there with spike strips. After Alexander struck the spike strips, the chase ended at McKeel Equipment at 1939 North Eighth Street in Paducah. Officers arrested Alexander without further incident.

MT. JULIET, Tenn. (WKRN) — Police took a kidnapping suspect into custody early Friday morning. A pursuit through multiple counties ended in Mt. Juliet.

Mt. Juliet police reported the incident began in Nashville. There, a man holding a woman against her will drove into Rutherford County. He hit a law enforcement vehicle and then drove away.

According to court documents, 31-year-old Eddie Martinez waited outside the victim’s workplace on Donelson Pike. He jumped into the driver’s seat and took her keys. The victim had gone out to her vehicle for a water bottle.

Martinez had been inside the restaurant as a customer. The victim reportedly recognized him from high school. They had not seen each other for several years. Martinez told the victim he was taking her car because he needed to “get away,” according to Metro police. She got into the passenger seat, hoping to talk him out of taking the vehicle.
