2. Man charged after allegedly dumping stolen car in Frankston – Australia

Police have charged a man after a stolen car was allegedly dumped in Frankston this morning.

A retired member called police when he spotted a suspicious vehicle in Mordialloc around 2.15am.

He had followed the car through various roads in the vicinity of White Street and Warren Road.

Local police responded and the Air Wing was called in to track an allegedly stolen Holden Cruze sedan.

Officers attempted to intercept the vehicle before it allegedly sped off southbound towards Mordialloc and Aspendale.

Stop sticks were successfully deployed on Cranbourne Road near Joy Street in Frankston.

The car allegedly continued on before it came to a stop on Beach Street in Frankston.

With the assistance of Air Wing, the alleged driver of the vehicle was arrested by police a short time later.

A 30-year-old man Chelsea man has been charged with nine offences including theft of motor vehicle, drive at speed dangerous, unlicensed driving and handle stolen goods.

He has been remanded to appear before Frankston Magistrates’ Court on 16 August.

Victoria Police has been specifically targeting burglars and car thieves each night since March 2023.

Operation Trinity, which runs from dusk until dawn across Melbourne is easily Victoria Police’s most well-resourced frontline policing operation at present.

Since March 2023, there has been 70 additional police including Dog Squad, Public Order Response and Air Wing rostered each night, on top of existing patrols.

5. Man Charged With Arson, Evading Police in Traralgon – Australia

Police are appealing for witnesses and dashcam footage following a pursuit in Traralgon yesterday morning.

A vehicle was seen allegedly driving erratically before stop sticks were successfully deployed on Shakespeare Street about 9.20am.

It is alleged the car failed to stop and the pursuit was terminated before the car drove towards Traralgon’s CBD.

The driver dumped the car in the intersection of Franklin and Hotham streets and he was arrested nearby about 9.45am.

No one was injured during the incident.

The Traralgon man was also charged with allegedly setting a vehicle on fire outside a Gabo Way address in Traralgon about 6.45am yesterday.

The 33-year-old man charged with dangerous driving whilst being pursued, reckless conduct endangering serious injury, arson and various driving offences.

He was remanded in custody to appear in Latrobe Valley Magistrates’ Court tomorrow.

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – Fort Wayne police have arrested a 24-year-old man after he led them on a chase Sunday morning into Ohio.

They got a call about a suspicious vehicle parked in a private parking lot around 7 a.m. and found Gage Maples asleep in the car. He then got into the driver’s seat and took off while police were checking for warrants.

Police say that Maples’ vehicle lost all four tires after stop sticks were deployed, but kept driving on the rims into Ohio where he was arrested after losing control and stopping in a farm field.

7. Hamilton police spike car after chase – New Zealand

Hamilton police have made arrests after a chase allegedly involving a stolen car that needed to be spiked several times.

In a statement, Detective Sergeant Matthew Lee said police spotted the Honda vehicle on Ōhaupō Rd on Monday evening.

Police lost sight of the vehicle until about 7.15pm when it drove through the Ōhaupō area again.

“The vehicle was followed around the wider Hamilton City area and was spiked several times, deflating all four tyres,” Lee said.

The vehicle eventually came to a stop on Kahikatea Drive in Hamilton.

Lee said one person fled on foot while the others were taken into custody.

He said the person was found by a police dog patrol team a short time later and arrested.

A 31-year-old male appeared in court on Tuesday on several driving charges and charges of assault with a weapon and receiving stolen property.

8. 3 Juveniles Captured After Armed Robbery And Car Chase – Connecticut

Shortly before 5 p.m. today, Westport Police officers were advised to look for a black Infiniti, occupied by 3 males.

The vehicle had been involved in an armed robbery in Trumbull.

After brief pursuit by Trumbull police, it was last seen southbound on I-95 near Exit 23.

Shortly thereafter, a Westport officer observed the vehicle on Greens Farms Road.

It continued to Bridge Street, where officers successfully deployed stop sticks.

But the driver continued, disregarding officers’ signals to stop.

Pursuit was called off at Saugatuck Avenue for safety concerns, due to the due to the recklessness of the operator.

The vehicle continued southbound on Saugatuck Avenue, at times veering into the northbound lane.

It struck a motorist on Saugatuck Avenue at the intersection with Duck Pond Road, disabling the vehicle. The 3 occupants fled.

With the assistance of Norwalk Police and Connecticut State Police, a perimeter was established. Two suspects were quickly located nearby.

The third suspect was located after a further search.

Saugatuck Avenue was closed briefly, while officers investigated the crash.

An eyewitness reported that the occupants had discarded items on Saugatuck Avenue. A search was conducted, and a firearm was discovered.

The operator of the struck motor vehicle was transported to Norwalk Hospital with minor injuries.

9. After spike strips and a chase, police arrest suspect for Nashville man’s death – Tennessee

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — Nearly three years later, a suspect has been arrested for the death of Cecil Holmes Jr., a man found in an apartment complex parking lot with gunshot wounds.

Holmes Jr. died in 2021 in the parking lot of Edgehill Homes on 11th Avenue South. In connection to his death, a grand jury indicted Tyrone Walker in April 2023 on charges of first-degree murder and being a felon in possession of a gun.

On Monday night, police received information that Walker was in a gold SUV, riding around in the Edgehill neighborhood.

Metro Nashville police used their helicopter to monitor Walker from overhead and had to deploy a spike strip to stop the gold SUV he was using. Police said Walker left the SUV and started running. Officers said they chased him into a field and tackled him.

A judge ordered that Walker remain in jail with no bond until a hearing.

He has prior convictions for aggravated burglary, felony theft and felony cocaine possession.

10. Jefferson City man arrested for drug trafficking after police chase – Missouri

A Jefferson City man was arrested for drug possession early Thursday morning in Cole County after a police chase, according to a news release.

A Jefferson City police officer attempted to stop a 48-year-old man for a traffic violation, and police say he did not stop. Police say a vehicle pursuit ensued until officers used stop spike strips to disable Arnold’s vehicle.

The man allegedly fled on foot, and after a brief foot pursuit, he was detained and arrested, police say. During the arrest, officers say the discovered several grams of methamphetamine.

The man was booked into the Cole County Jail at 3:28 a.m. on requested charges including failing to stop for an emergency vehicle, careless driving, drug trafficking, possession of drug paraphernalia, resisting arrest and leaving the scene of a crash, according to online jail records.
