State troopers recover suspected meth, mushrooms following 30-mile pursuit on I-270 Ohio

COLUMBUS, Ohio — A Columbus man was arrested after leading authorities on a chase throughout the county for at least 30 miles on Interstate 270 early Friday morning, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Just after 1:25 a.m., troopers from the Circleville post attempted to stop a vehicle — a 2007 Ford Fusion — on South High Street, just north of state Route 104 in southern Franklin County. OSHP did not specify what the traffic stop was for. The vehicle did not stop, which led to a pursuit.

The driver of the Fusion, 39-year-old Derick Mullens, exited onto I-270 West from South High Street during the pursuit that lasted between 30 and 35 miles, according to OSHP.

Troopers deployed stop sticks to deflate the suspect vehicle’s tires. The pursuit that lasted at least 30 minutes ended on I-270 just east of Cleveland Avenue when the vehicle came to a full stop. Mullens was arrested without further incident.

Mullens had several warrants stemming from felony and misdemeanor charges, according to OSHP.

The verbal portion includes more detail from an earlier story we published regarding a reckless driver in Banks who was halted with the help of spike strips and a PIT maneuver on Main Street, among other topics.

Violation of Stalking Order – NW Jarvis Pl – A female reported that her ex-boyfriend had violated a valid stalking order 11 times over the past 2.5 years. The suspect sent at least 11 text messages over the time period since the stalking order was served. The suspect turned himself in to the jail and was lodged.

Fraud – NW Main St – A male subject passed 8 fake $100 bills at Banks Billiards. Once the employees recognized that the bills were fake, they immediately called 911. Deputy Pope responded quickly but the suspect had already fled, leaving his truck behind. Deputy Pope was able to identify the suspect through known police databases and community help. Another deputy was able to catch up to the suspect and take him into custody on charges of forgery.

A multi-car police chase in Melbourne’s east has resulted in numerous arrests of Melbourne teenagers after they attempted to flee authorities.

Five people, including three teenagers, have been arrested after they evaded police in allegedly stolen vehicles.

Two stolen cars were spotted by police in Endeavour Hills around 8.20 am on Friday and were monitored by police.

The vehicles traveled through multiple suburbs before police utilized stop sticks in Camberwell and Glen Waverley.

One vehicle, a BMW, was dumped on Sanday Street in Glen Waverley before the occupants got into a second vehicle, a Mercedes sedan, and fled again.

The Mercedes was followed by police to Heathmere Crescent in Endeavour Hills where all five people inside attempted to flee on foot.

A 20-year-old Frankston man, an 18-year-old Doveton man, a 17-year-old Narre Warren boy, a 17-year-old Cranbourne North boy, and a 16-year-old Dandenong male have all been arrested.

No one was injured and the exact circumstances surrounding the incidents are still being investigated.




Man arrested following 100 mph chase that began in Worthington Minnesota

WORTHINGTON — A Minneapolis man is charged with fleeing a peace officer in a motor vehicle and obstruction of justice, along with several other misdemeanor charges, following a Dec. 28 incident that began in Nobles County.According to the law enforcement report, officers monitoring traffic on Interstate 90 noticed a vehicle without any visible license plates at approximately 9:36 p.m.

A traffic stop was initiated, and the driver, identified as Angelo Wagner Jr., 35, was allegedly unable to produce his driver’s license or proof of insurance on the vehicle. Wagner reportedly said the vehicle belonged to his girlfriend.

The report stated that after being advised to call his girlfriend to obtain the necessary information, Wagner indicated to officers that he had to use the restroom. Officers had Wagner pull into a nearby gas station, telling him he could use the restroom as soon as they were finished.

Wagner then abruptly left the parking lot and reportedly pulled onto westbound Interstate 90 from Humiston Avenue. During the pursuit, Wagner allegedly reached speeds of around 100 miles per hour.

HCSO arrests fleeing suspect, fugitive of 4+ years

A fleeing suspect was arrested in Hillsborough County after leading deputies on a high-speed chase.

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. – The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office arrested a suspect on Monday after he led deputies on a high-speed chase before attempting to elude them on foot.

According to HCSO, deputies conducted a traffic stop on a Dodge Scat Pack on Monday when Christian Doby, 26, fled at a high rate of speed.

Video from the HCSO Aviation Unit shows the suspect driving away from deputies before turning around, at which point they deployed stop sticks, striking three of the car’s tires.

As the car continues to drive on faulty tires, the aerial video shows sparks flying from underneath his vehicle.

Kenosha police chase into Illinois, man accused had revoked license – Illinois – Wisconsin

KENOSHA, Wis. – An Illinois man is accused of leading police on a chase through Kenosha County and across the state line on Dec. 29.

Prosecutors charged 31-year-old Jesus Catalan with nine felonies and two misdemeanors. Police reported the chase stretched just over 30 miles with a top speed estimated at 100 mph.

According to a criminal complaint, Kenosha police were initially alerted around 3 a.m. that a black SUV – which had fled police in Pleasant Prairie and Waukegan, Illinois on Dec. 23 – was spotted near 52nd Street and Green Bay Road. An officer soon found a black SUV in that area and did a U-turn to check its license plates. That’s when court filings state the SUV’s lights suddenly turned off and the driver, since identified as Catalan, sped off and ran a red light.
The officer caught up with the SUV and started the pursuit near 58th Avenue and 55th Street, per the complaint. While the SUV sped up, the officer was able to confirm the license plates matched those of the SUV involved in the Dec. 23 pursuit. The SUV sped and weaved around Kenosha as police tried to keep sight of it.

3 charged after high speed chase following breast pump theft – West Virginia

BRIDGEPORT, W.Va (WDTV) – Three men are being charged after a high-speed car chase and the theft of several breast pumps from Wal-Mart.

On Sunday, January 7, 2024, police responded to a fraudulent schemes complaint at a Wal-Mart in Weston Lewis County.

Court documents say the suspects were shoplifting from multiple Wal-Marts in the area and that multiple breast pumps had been stolen.

Going on a vehicle description from witnesses at Wal-Mart, police found a car matching the description and attempted to pull them over.

Police say the car then sped up and fled in excess of 120 mph on wet road conditions, weaving around traffic with reckless indifference.

Approximately twenty miles down the road, police successfully deployed spike strips, bringing the car to a stop in 3 miles.

Police then identified the driver as Mekhi Murphy and the passengers as Melahki Anderson and Dayquan Bentley.

Spike Strips Stop Teen Car Thieves In NJ During Palisades Parkway Pursuit From Rockland New Jersey – New York

The New York City trio had swiped a 2018 Jeep Renegade from Clarkstown after the owner left it running with the keys in it shortly after 7:30 a.m. Jan. 9, PIP Police Lt. Raymond Walter said.

New York State Police troopers who joined Clarkstown police in pursuing the trio radioed ahead to their parkway police colleagues before terminating the pursuit near the state line, the lieutenant said.

Picking up the chase, PIP police deployed the tire-deflating “stop sticks,” which Walter said “quickly and safely ended the pursuit.”

The trio bailed out, then ran through the woods and across 9W before the PIP officers captured them in the parking lot of an Englewood Cliffs office building, he said.

The driver, Algenis Cabrera, and another male adult passenger, Isaiah Rodriguez, both 18, were charged with various related counts. A delinquency complaint involving similar charges was signed against the second passenger, a 17-year-old boy.

Man driving wrong way charged with OWI 3rd offense – Wisconsin –

LAKE HALLIE, Wis. (WEAU) – A Lake Hallie man now faces intoxicant-related charges after driving the wrong way on Hwy. 53 Sunday morning.

On Jan. 7 at about 2:13, 45-year-old Clifton Davis was arrested and charged with operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated – third offense after driving southbound in a northbound lane on Hwy. 53 from Bloomer, Wis.

According to a news release from the Lake Hallie Police Department, it received a call at about 2 a.m. about the vehicle. Officers located the truck at about 2:13 a.m. One of the officers turned on his emergency lights, but the truck kept going. Another officer used stop sticks and the truck eventually came to a stop north of the Melby Road exit.

Officers could smell intoxicants on Davis’ breath and he was unsteady on his feet. He agreed to a field sobriety test and a preliminary breath test.

Man accused in 100-mph south Sacramento pursuit crashed into officer’s car, police say California

The Sacramento Police Department arrested a man accused of threatening a woman with a spear Sunday night and then fleeing from police on a high-speed chase, weaving throughout south Sacramento and Highway 99.

Officers were called by the suspect’s son about 10:15 p.m. to the 1900 block of 71st Avenue after his parents got into an argument and began slashing each other’s tires, according to radio dispatches. The father also threatened the caller’s mom with a spear before fleeing the residence in the Meadowview neighborhood, dispatches said.

The man drove throughout the Meadowview, Valley Hi Laguna and Parkway neighborhoods before getting onto Highway 99, according to radio dispatches and Police Department spokesman Officer Anthony Gamble, where police estimated he drove about 99 mph. Officers attempted to deploy spike strips at Florin Road and Franklin Boulevard but were unsuccessful.
