COLUMBUS, Ohio — A Columbus man was arrested after leading authorities on a chase throughout the county for at least 30 miles on Interstate 270 early Friday morning, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
Just after 1:25 a.m., troopers from the Circleville post attempted to stop a vehicle — a 2007 Ford Fusion — on South High Street, just north of state Route 104 in southern Franklin County. OSHP did not specify what the traffic stop was for. The vehicle did not stop, which led to a pursuit.
The driver of the Fusion, 39-year-old Derick Mullens, exited onto I-270 West from South High Street during the pursuit that lasted between 30 and 35 miles, according to OSHP.
Troopers deployed stop sticks to deflate the suspect vehicle’s tires. The pursuit that lasted at least 30 minutes ended on I-270 just east of Cleveland Avenue when the vehicle came to a full stop. Mullens was arrested without further incident.
Mullens had several warrants stemming from felony and misdemeanor charges, according to OSHP.

Violation of Stalking Order – NW Jarvis Pl – A female reported that her ex-boyfriend had violated a valid stalking order 11 times over the past 2.5 years. The suspect sent at least 11 text messages over the time period since the stalking order was served. The suspect turned himself in to the jail and was lodged.
Fraud – NW Main St – A male subject passed 8 fake $100 bills at Banks Billiards. Once the employees recognized that the bills were fake, they immediately called 911. Deputy Pope responded quickly but the suspect had already fled, leaving his truck behind. Deputy Pope was able to identify the suspect through known police databases and community help. Another deputy was able to catch up to the suspect and take him into custody on charges of forgery.
A multi-car police chase in Melbourne’s east led to numerous arrests. Melbourne teenagers attempted to flee authorities. Police arrested five people, including three teenagers. They had evaded officers in allegedly stolen vehicles.
Initially, police spotted two stolen cars in Endeavour Hills around 8:20 a.m. on Friday. Officers immediately monitored the vehicles. Next, the cars traveled through multiple suburbs. Subsequently, police utilized Stop Sticks in Camberwell and Glen Waverley.
The suspects then dumped one vehicle, a BMW, on Sanday Street in Glen Waverley. Immediately after, the occupants got into a second vehicle, a Mercedes sedan, and fled again. Police followed the Mercedes to Heathmere Crescent in Endeavour Hills. Eventually, all five people inside attempted to flee on foot.
Police arrested a 20-year-old Frankston man and an 18-year-old Doveton man. They also arrested a 17-year-old Narre Warren boy, a 17-year-old Cranbourne North boy, and a 16-year-old Dandenong male. No one sustained injuries. Currently, police still investigate the exact circumstances surrounding the incidents.

The report stated that after being advised to call his girlfriend to obtain the necessary information, Wagner indicated to officers that he had to use the restroom. Officers had Wagner pull into a nearby gas station, telling him he could use the restroom as soon as they were finished.
Wagner then abruptly left the parking lot and reportedly pulled onto westbound Interstate 90 from Humiston Avenue. During the pursuit, Wagner allegedly reached speeds of around 100 miles per hour.

A fleeing suspect was arrested in Hillsborough County after leading deputies on a high-speed chase.
HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. – The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office arrested a suspect on Monday after he led deputies on a high-speed chase before attempting to elude them on foot.
According to HCSO, deputies conducted a traffic stop on a Dodge Scat Pack on Monday when Christian Doby, 26, fled at a high rate of speed.
Video from the HCSO Aviation Unit shows the suspect driving away from deputies before turning around, at which point they deployed stop sticks, striking three of the car’s tires.
As the car continues to drive on faulty tires, the aerial video shows sparks flying from underneath his vehicle.
KENOSHA, Wis. – An Illinois man is accused of leading police on a chase through Kenosha County and across the state line on Dec. 29.
Prosecutors charged 31-year-old Jesus Catalan with nine felonies and two misdemeanors. Police reported the chase stretched just over 30 miles with a top speed estimated at 100 mph.
According to a criminal complaint, Kenosha police were initially alerted around 3 a.m. that a black SUV – which had fled police in Pleasant Prairie and Waukegan, Illinois on Dec. 23 – was spotted near 52nd Street and Green Bay Road. An officer soon found a black SUV in that area and did a U-turn to check its license plates. That’s when court filings state the SUV’s lights suddenly turned off and the driver, since identified as Catalan, sped off and ran a red light.
The officer caught up with the SUV and started the pursuit near 58th Avenue and 55th Street, per the complaint. While the SUV sped up, the officer was able to confirm the license plates matched those of the SUV involved in the Dec. 23 pursuit. The SUV sped and weaved around Kenosha as police tried to keep sight of it.

BRIDGEPORT, W.Va (WDTV) – Three men are being charged after a high-speed car chase and the theft of several breast pumps from Wal-Mart.
On Sunday, January 7, 2024, police responded to a fraudulent schemes complaint at a Wal-Mart in Weston Lewis County.
Court documents say the suspects were shoplifting from multiple Wal-Marts in the area and that multiple breast pumps had been stolen.
Going on a vehicle description from witnesses at Wal-Mart, police found a car matching the description and attempted to pull them over.
Police say the car then sped up and fled in excess of 120 mph on wet road conditions, weaving around traffic with reckless indifference.
Approximately twenty miles down the road, police successfully deployed spike strips, bringing the car to a stop in 3 miles.
Police then identified the driver as Mekhi Murphy and the passengers as Melahki Anderson and Dayquan Bentley.

A New York City trio stole a 2018 Jeep Renegade. The owner left the keys inside while it was running. This happened in Clarkstown shortly after 7:30 a.m. on January 9. PIP Police Lt. Raymond Walter confirmed this.
New York State Police troopers joined Clarkstown police. They chased the three suspects. Troopers radioed their parkway police colleagues. They ended their pursuit near the state line, Walter said.
PIP police picked up the chase. Officers deployed tire-deflating Stop Sticks. This action quickly and safely ended the pursuit, Walter stated.
The trio bailed out of the Jeep. They ran through the woods. They crossed Route 9W. PIP officers captured them in an Englewood Cliffs office parking lot.
The driver, 18-year-old Algenis Cabrera, faced several related charges. Isaiah Rodriguez, an 18-year-old male passenger, was also charged. Police filed a delinquency complaint against the second passenger. This second passenger was a 17-year-old boy.

A Lake Hallie man faces intoxicant charges. He drove the wrong way on Highway 53 Sunday morning.
Police arrested 45-year-old Clifton Davis on January 7 at 2:13 a.m. He drove southbound in a northbound lane on Highway 53. This happened near Bloomer, Wisconsin. Police charged him with his third OWI offense.
The Lake Hallie Police got a call about the vehicle at 2:00 a.m. Officers located the truck around 2:13 a.m. An officer activated his emergency lights. The truck kept driving.
Another officer successfully used Stop Sticks. The truck finally stopped north of the Melby Road exit. Officers smelled intoxicants on Davis’ breath. He was also unsteady on his feet. Davis agreed to both a field sobriety test and a preliminary breath test.

Sacramento Police arrested a man Sunday night. He allegedly threatened a woman with a spear. He then fled police in a high-speed chase. The chase weaved through south Sacramento and Highway 99.
The suspect’s son called officers around 10:15 p.m. It happened on the 1900 block of 71st Avenue. His parents were arguing and slashing each other’s tires. The father also threatened the mother with a spear before fleeing. He left their Meadowview neighborhood residence.
The man drove through Meadowview and other neighborhoods. These included Valley Hi Laguna and Parkway. He then entered Highway 99. Police estimated he drove about 99 mph on the freeway. Officers tried to deploy spike strips. The attempt at Florin Road and Franklin Boulevard was unsuccessful.
