RAPIDES PARISH, La. (KALB) – The Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Office said deputies arrested a man from the Abbeville area after he led them on a high-speed chase.
RPSO said deputies attempted to stop Lawrence Joseph Syon, 41, of Abbeville, on I-49 near mile marker 108 on February 24 around 8:45 a.m. They cited a traffic violation as the reason. Syon refused to stop, driving over 95 mph on I-49. Around mile marker 80, the vehicle came to a stop after the Alexandria Police Department and Louisiana State Police assisted in disabling it. Authorities deployed spike strips to aid in stopping the vehicle. Deputies took Syon into custody and arrested him. They later found him to be in possession of a large amount of marijuana and a firearm. A computer check revealed Syon was a convicted felon with active warrants through Vermillion and Lafayette Parishes.

Two teens have been arrested in connection to multiple vehicles that were stolen from gas pumps in Woodbridge and West Haven on Friday afternoon.
The first vehicle was stolen shortly after 4 p.m. from Woodbridge. Police there said they notified several agencies about the stolen Audi heading from their town towards New Haven.
About 20 minutes later, officers said a woman was pumping gas into her Hyundai when a teenage male entered her car and drove away. While attempting to stop the theft, the woman suffered minor injuries.
A few minutes later, police said a black Cadillac was stolen from the Noble gas station on Boston Post Road in West Haven while someone was pumping gas.
The driver of the Cadillac hit a vehicle on Saw Mill Road. All of the people inside of the vehicle then fled.
According to police, the original Audi from Woodbridge was later seen on Saw Mill Road picking up the people who fled from the Cadillac.
A police sergeant attempted to stop the Audi, but stopped the attempt when the vehicle continued onto Interstate 95.
During the investigation, authorities said they found the Audi on the I-95 south rest stop.

Stopping the Threat: Sheriff: Alabama man runs from deputies after violating protection order, crashes on highway after chase – Alabama
HOUSTON COUNTY, Ala (WDHN) — An Alabama man was booked into the Houston County Jail Tuesday afternoon after leading Houston County deputies on a chase through Dothan that ended with a crash on Highway 84, Sheriff Donald Valenza said.
According to Sheriff Valenza, sometime before lunch on Tuesday, Houston County deputies received a call from a woman claiming a man, whom she had a protection order against, was following her in a car on the north side of Dothan.
Sheriff Valenza said deputies found the man, identified as Evan Newman, and attempted to pull him over, but Newman fled, and deputies chased.
During the chase, Newman hit a deputy’s patrol car but kept driving.
The sheriff said the chase continued onto Hwy 84, and troopers laid down spike strips near County Road 9, which Newman hit, but he continued to drive until he crashed into a guard rail, knocking off one of his tires. His car finally stopped in the highway’s median.

Stopping the Threat: Potential check fraud leads to police chase – Wisconsin
MENOMINE, Wis. (WLAX/WEUX) – A potential case of check fraud led to a chase and an arrest this morning. The Dunn County Sheriff’s Office says a man tried to use an altered check at a bank in Menomonie just before 8:30 this morning (2/22/24). Police were then contacted. The man also had a warrant for his arrest for a probation violation.
The Menomonie Police Department received information that someone saw the suspect’s vehicle going west on Highway 12. A chase then began. Officers pursued the suspect onto I-94 and to the town of Roberts, where spike strips stopped him. There were 4 people in the vehicle during the chase; officers arrested two of them.

WEST FARGO, N.D. (Valley News Live) – A West Fargo man faces charges in Cass County court. He allegedly led police on a chase while intoxicated.
A West Fargo Police officer was patrolling on February 18. He saw a vehicle in the 700 block of 40th Avenue East. The car was traveling 74 miles per hour in a 40 mph zone. When the officer tried to pull the driver over, court documents say the driver sped up and fled west on 40th Avenue West.
The officer says, as he approached Sheyenne Street, the driver passed a vehicle at approximately 90 miles per hour. The vehicle continued west on 40th Avenue, north on County Road 15, and east on 38th Street SE. The officer finally stopped the vehicle on 15th Street West when he deployed spike strips.
According to court records, the vehicle drove into a field and eventually stopped near the intersection of 21st Avenue and 15th Street West. The officer says the chase reached speeds of 120 miles per hour.

An ice-addled and armed home intruder who erratically fled in a stolen car and veered off the road to avoid a police intercept in Narre Warren South has been jailed.
Trent Harrison, 39, of Dandenong, pleaded guilty to a range of charges at the Victorian County Court including dangerous driving, unlicensed driving, aggravated burglary, car theft and breaching bail and intervention orders.
In June 2022, Harrison sent a ‘dick pic’ and text messages to a Hampton Park woman. She responded she was reporting him to police, adding “you deserve everything you get”.
“Yeah so will you in the next 20, you’ve been playing me the whole time now it’s my turn,” Harrison typed back.

Stopping the Threat: Suspect fires at Findlay police, escapes capture before being caught up with in Sylvania – Ohio
A man has been arrested after allegedly fleeing from police who used a “stop sticks” maneuver to stop him.
According to the Collier County Sheriff’s Office, on Wednesday, an officer responded to the area of Vanderbilt Drive about a mutual aid request.
The Lee County Sheriff’s Office advised 24-year-old Ortiz Ernesto of Bonita Springs, who was driving a white four-door Ford Explorer, ran from a traffic stop heading south on Old U.S. 41 from Bonita Beach Road driving around 85 miles per hour.
Deputies activated their emergency lights and sirens, Ernesto’s vehicle then continued to speed in an attempt to evade police toward Tamiami Trail north.
Deputies in the area deployed stop sticks, which struck the vehicle’s tires.
The car continued north, still failing to stop, and eventually turned right onto Old U.S. 41.
The stop sticks damaged the car’s front tires, which caused it to drive into the opposite lanes of traffic.

On the morning of February 18, eight stolen dealership cars and one stolen customer car led West Allis police on a chase.
Waukesha Police responded to a damaged Jaguar/Land Rover dealership around 9 a.m. They believe thieves stole the nine vehicles around 6 a.m.
West Allis police received a tip about the cars in a business parking lot. Officers located the group on Greenfield Avenue, but the drivers fled onto I-894 and I-94.
Police used Stop Sticks, causing one stolen car to crash with an uninvolved vehicle in Pleasant Prairie. Police took the teenage driver into custody. No injuries were reported.
Waukesha police believe an organized Chicago-area teen crime group was responsible.
