GRAND TRAVERSE COUNTY, Mich., (WPBN/WGTU) — An 18-year-old Central Lake man was arrested Tuesday night for not stopping for deputies.
Lieutenant Jon Morgan with the Grand Traverse Sheriff’s Office said a deputy was patrolling in the Acme Corners area after 9 p.m. There, he noticed a black Chevy pickup truck with no license plate.
Lt. Morgan said when the deputy tried to pull the truck over near Holiday Road, the driver of the truck did not stop.
Lt. Morgan said the deputy continued to follow the truck past 4 Mile Road where the driver of the truck sped up to roughly 90 mph.
Another deputy put out stop sticks near the intersection of Front Street and Garfield Avenue to try to stop the truck, according to the sheriff’s office.
Around midnight Friday, a BNSF Train near Seligman reported they were actively being burglarized by a white box truck. A YCSO Deputy was in the area and arrived within minutes while the burglary was in progress. The truck, along with another vehicle it was traveling with, started heading west onto Interstate 40. The deputy followed the suspects as he waited for backup from YCSO, DPS, and the Mohave County Sheriff. The deputy exhibited great patience, even after trailing the suspects for miles.
DPS and Kingman Police Department attempted a traffic stop of the suspect’s truck as it arrived in Kingman, but when the truck failed to yield, DPS deployed stop sticks forcing the truck to come to a stop. The driver as the only occupant of the truck, took off on foot but was quickly apprehended by DPS. The suspect driving the other vehicle was also arrested. YCSO deputies did an amazing job showing patience in following the suspects and organizing this multi-agency pursuit.
Police Department Communications Coordinator Amanda Grayson says surveillance video was used to identify and apprehend the suspect on Thursday. She says he was located near some railroad tracks near the site where the vehicle was stolen on October 11.
Rochester police responded around 2:45 AM on October 11 to the 800 block of Civic Center Drive Northwest after receiving a report of a stolen shuttle van. The officers were told the man had been left running outside a transportation business while customers were inside the building preparing to depart.
The original report on the incident indicated the stolen van was spotted about 15 minutes later traveling north on Highway 52. A traffic stop was attempted in the Zumbrota area, but the driver accelerated in the van continued heading north until stop sticks were deployed on the highway and the vehicle stopped in the Cannon Falls area.
The suspect then fled on foot across a field, and until yesterday, had not been located. A news release issued this morning identified him as 39-year-old Abdulkadir Mohamed of Rochester.
RENO COUNTY — A Kansas man is in custody after a violent crash and chase in Reno County.
Just before 2:30p.m. Thursday Hutchinson Police were dispatched to a hit and run which occurred at 4th Avenue and Hendricks in Hutchinson, according to Reno County Sheriff’s Captain Steve Lutz.
The suspect vehicle, a white Ford F350 continued west bound on 4th Avenue with the other vehicle following behind. The occupant of the other vehicle called 911 and was giving Dispatch their location and the description of the suspect vehicle.
A police officer located the Ford F350 at the Reno County Landfill, in the Pit area. The officer pulled in behind the Ford F350 in the pit area and activated their emergency lights. The driver of the F350, later identified as 62-year-old Tommie Jones, put the vehicle in reverse and accelerated rapidly crashing into the front of the Hutchinson Police Department patrol vehicle, causing it to be disabled.
Jones then drove away. Reno County Sheriff’s Deputies located pickup traveling toward the scale house in the landfill.
Deputies attempted to make a traffic stop on the vehicle; however Jones refused to pull over. At the scale house, police units had set up stop sticks, and Jones stopped the vehicle.
A felony stop was performed and Jones failed to comply with orders to exit the vehicle. Eventually Jones exited the vehicle and was taken into custody with no further incident.
Waldorf, MD – Patrol officers apprehended two suspects involved in a string of auto thefts and car break-ins after a pursuit that ended in Prince George’s County. The incident, which took place in the early hours of October 14, has left local authorities searching for two additional suspects.
At 4:21 a.m., officers responded to a call from the Cave Creek Court area in Waldorf, where several suspects were reported to be breaking into cars. Upon arrival, officers spotted one suspect on Derryfield Court, who quickly fled in a white Honda SUV. The vehicle was later confirmed to have been stolen from La Plata.
As officers attempted to stop the Honda, a dark-colored Hyundai appeared and intervened by attempting to position itself between the police vehicle and the fleeing Honda. In the process, the Hyundai struck the side of the patrol car, though no injuries were reported in the collision.
The pursuit continued, with officers deploying stop sticks in an effort to halt the fleeing vehicles. Both the Honda and the Hyundai struck the stop sticks, resulting in the Honda becoming disabled on the shoulder of Mattawoman Beantown Road. The driver of the Honda then attempted a daring escape, jumping onto the hood of the Hyundai and eventually entering the second vehicle.
COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) -A man who authorities say escaped from the Chesterfield County Detention Center alongside three other inmates was found in Columbia.
Emanuel Robson Planco was arrested Thursday morning when deputies responded to a suspicious person possibly breaking into cars at the 1400 block of Willow Oak Drive.
Planco, Anton Conway Bennett, Kyonne Marquise McLeod, and De’Shawn Malik Fox have been wanted by authorities for escape and other charges from the jail, according to the Chesterfield County Sheriff’s Office.
The Richland County Sheriff’s Department (RCSD), said when deputies arrived they attempted to contact Planco and an RCSD K9 specialist saw him break into a Kia. Planco drove away, initiating a chase that continued to the area of Lone Drive off of Farrow Road.
Deputies said stop sticks were deployed and Planco ran away on foot.
Planco was found in the wood line on Lone Drive by K9 Kiro.
He was arrested, identified as one of the escapees, and taken to the hospital to be treated for dog bites.
Deputies said further investigation revealed Planco attempted to break into a home near Willow Oak Drive and steal a bicycle when the homeowner saw him on video and fired a shot into the air, scaring him off. He is also accused of breaking into at least three other cars at the 1400 block of Willow Oak Drive; stealing a PlayStation 4, multiple credit cards, and IDs.
ALBANY, Ore. – A person who was arrested back in September after a chase involving Albany police and Linn County deputies has been sentenced to more than a year of probation and has had their driver’s license revoked, according to court records.
According to authorities, in the morning of September 10 deputies from the Linn County Sheriff’s Office responded to a reported assault that occurred at Love’s Truck Stop on Old Salem Road in Albany. Shortly afterwards, Albany police responded to a report of a vehicle stolen from a nearby home. The suspect who allegedly stole the vehicle ended up leading police and deputies on a chase along Highway 20 that ended after spike strips were used to destroy the vehicle’s tires and the vehicle was pinned by Albany police and Benton County sheriff’s patrol vehicles. Police arrested Lucy Saure Diethylamide, 23, of Portland, and jailed them on charges of attempting to elude the police, failing to perform the duties of a driver, criminal mischief, possession of a stolen vehicle, and more.
Court records show Diethylamide pleaded no contest to charges of unauthorized use of a vehicle, first-degree criminal mischief, and two charges of attempting to elude a police officer in hearings on September 30 and October 2. All 11 other charges against them were dismissed, court records show. On October 2, Diethylamide was sentenced to 18 months of probation and their driver’s license was revoked for a year.
Authorities identified the suspect Tuesday who they say was involved in a wild pursuit Monday night that ended with gunfire. This has led to a four-hour delay on the 15 Freeway through the Cajon Pass in San Bernardino County.
Deputies chased the suspect following a robbery in Hesperia around 8:45 p.m. He was considered to be armed and dangerous, authorities told KTLA.
A spike strip and several PIT maneuvers finally ended the pursuit on the northbound 15 Freeway in the area of Highway 138 around 10 p.m.
Despite being boxed in, the driver did not immediately surrender.
At some point, gunshots were fired and the suspect was taken into custody after crawling through a window.
It was unclear if the suspect, identified as 39-year-old Robert Brown, was struck by the gunfire.
PUTNAM COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) – A man was arrested Monday evening after a pursuit that crossed from one county into another.
Putnam County Sheriff’s deputies say it started around 4:45 p.m. on state Route 62 in Point Pleasant for a man wanted on several warrants in Mason County.
Deputies in Putnam County were able to set spike strips along state Route 62 in Buffalo. The man took off running for a short distance before being apprehended.
