1. Beyond the Car: Man arrested after pursuit in Norman County, has felony warrants in 10 different counties – Minnesota

ADA, Minn. (Valley News Live) – A man has been arrested after leading Norman County Sheriff’s Deputies on a pursuit.
On Friday, October 24th around 11:50 A.M., the sheriff’s office received a report of suspicious activity in Gary, Minnesota. It was reported an adult male was last seen traveling west from the Gary General Store in a newer, black Chevy Blazer.
An hour later, while investigating the suspicious activity, a deputy located a vehicle matching the description near Heiberg, which is just north of Twin Valley.
During a traffic stop of the vehicle at the intersection of State Highway 32 and 370th Street, the driver, 49-year-old Damon Roy Anderson, allegedly gave the deputy a license belonging to someone else. As the deputy continued to investigate, Anderson fled the traffic stop and led deputies on a pursuit throughout Norman County and into Clay County. The pursuit ended south of Hitterdal after a deployment of stop-sticks.
Anderson was taken into custody by the Norman County Sheriff’s Office and transported to the Northwest Regional Corrections Center in Crookston.
Anderson had felony warrants from 10 different counties across Minnesota. He also faces additional charges in Norman County for Felony Possession of a Controlled Substance, Fleeing a Peace Officer in a motor vehicle, and Felon in Possession of Firearm.
The White Earth Police Department, Clay County Sheriff’s Office, Ada Police Department, and Minnesota State Patrol all assisted in this case.
The chase started a few nights ago when Salinas Police Department officers attempted to stop a black Dodge Charger whose occupants reportedly were involved in a physical altercation in Salinas. The driver refused to yield, prompting a pursuit that stretched across multiple counties.
As the pursuit continued into Santa Cruz County, California Highway Patrol officers took over. The driver then sped into Santa Clara County and eventually entered Alameda County along Interstate 880. Officers from the CHP Hayward Area Office joined the pursuit and successfully deployed a spike strip, ending the dangerous chase without injury.
“CHP officers used legal intervention to safely end a pursuit,” the agency said in a statement. After the vehicle stopped, CHP personnel took both male occupants into custody. Authorities arrested the driver on suspicion of driving under the influence and felony evading, while they also charged both suspects with assault with a deadly weapon, a felony.
The Salinas Police Department transported both men back to Monterey County Jail, where authorities booked them. The multi-agency coordination between Salinas Police, CHP units from multiple counties, and CHP Hayward brought the incident to a swift and safe resolution.

3. Beyond the Car: Two Arrested After High-Speed Pursuit in Eastern Nebraska – Nebraska

Two people are now under arrest following a multi-county pursuit on Interstate 80 in eastern Nebraska, according to the Nebraska State Patrol.
Around 7:06 p.m., troopers received a notification about a blue 2021 Kia Forte traveling westbound near mile marker $433$ with stolen Illinois license plates. The Omaha Police’s Able-1 helicopter located the vehicle at a nearby rest stop. When a trooper approached, the car fled westbound on I-80.
Troopers temporarily discontinued the pursuit as Able-1 tracked the vehicle from the air. The Kia exited onto 238th Street, looped back onto the interstate, and eventually reentered westbound I-80, reaching speeds up to 125 mph.
A trooper deployed Stop Sticks near mile marker 410, bringing the vehicle to a halt near $120 and Highway 6. Both occupants fled on foot but NSP AirWing and Able-1 quickly found them in a nearby field.
The driver, Courtney Fletz, 30, faces arrest for flight to avoid arrest and theft, and authorities booked her into Sarpy County Corrections. The passenger, Dylan Pinkston, 31, faces arrest for obstructing a peace officer, and authorities booked him into the Lancaster County Correctional Facility.
A 27-year-old man was arrested following a high-speed chase that spanned multiple counties on Friday evening.
Per a California Highway Patrol media statement, officers with the L.A. Police Department initiated a pursuit on a Nissan Sentra – later found to be driven by Luchiano Antonio Lewis Villanueva – just after 6:50 p.m.
The pursuit started in the North Hollywood area and was initiated for suspicion of DUI and weapons possession, the CHP said.
“Villanueva fled in his vehicle from LAPD, and a high-speed vehicle pursuit ensued on the 101 Freeway towards Ventura County at speeds of up to 110 miles per hour,” CHP added.
Upon driving into Ventura County, LAPD units relinquished the pursuit to officers at the CHP’s West Valley Area station, which chased Villanueva for a further 15 miles at high speeds.
Units from CHP’s Ventura Area station were able to successfully deploy a spike strip on the left-side tires of Villanueva’s Sentra, which “drastically reduced” his speeds.

5. Beyond the Car: Stop sticks and a helicopter help nab suspect in Lake County – Florida

TAVARES, Fla. — The Lake County Sheriff’s Office says multiple agencies helped them take a man accused of fleeing a traffic stop into custody.
The sheriff’s office alleges Fabian Carrasco fled a stop in Eustis on Oct. 10. A Lake County Deputy later found his car on Harris Road in Tavares. Carrasco is accused of striking the deputy’s patrol car and then taking off, heading toward Highway 441.
Tavares police, Howey-in-the-Hills police, and ultimately the Lake County Sheriff’s Office helicopter all joined the search for the suspect. A Howey-in-the-Hills officer put down Stop Sticks and deflated three of the suspect’s tires. According to the sheriff’s office, they say Carrasco kept going. Ultimately, he tried to hide in a bush behind a dumpster in a Tavares shopping plaza.
Following this, officers took Carrasco into custody. Subsequently, the sheriff’s office said they discovered the car he was in was stolen, as was the tag. They further said he also had an arrest warrant out of Orange County.
Authorities booked Carrasco into the Lake County jail on charges including battery on a law enforcement officer, fleeing and eluding, and grand theft of a motor vehicle.

6. Beyond the Car: Police dog ‘Hondo’ takes a bite out of crime after chase ends in Lynnwood – Washington

A police chase that spanned Snohomish County early Friday ended with a suspect’s shoe in a police dog’s mouth.
The incident began shortly after 2:45 a.m., when Bothell police officers started pursuing a burglary suspect. The pursuit swiftly went up Highway 9, continued over Highway 2, and then sped down Interstate 5 toward Lynnwood.
As soon as the driver entered Lynnwood, officers strategically placed spike sticks on I-5. Predictably, the chase ended a short time later at the 220 St SW offramp when the suspect’s pickup went into a ditch.
The driver got out and ran into the woods, however, he clearly wasn’t realizing that Mill Creek police dog “Hondo” was on his tail—or perhaps his foot. In fact, Lynnwood police later posted a photo on their Facebook page of the eager dog with the man’s shoe in its mouth.
Ultimately, officers took both the driver and his passenger into custody. According to Lynnwood police, possible charges include burglary and DUI.

7. Beyond the Car: Wichita man faces multiple charges after multi-agency vehicle chase through Emporia and Lyon County – Kansas

Brandon Mangus, 38, now faces multiple charges, including fleeing or attempting to elude a Law Enforcement Officer by engaging in reckless driving, after a police pursuit Wednesday night. He led officers from the Kansas Highway Patrol, Emporia Police Department, and Lyon County Sheriff’s Office during this event.
EPD officers were initially alerted to Mangus at 9:15 p.m. because the Kansas Highway Patrol asked for assistance in locating a suspected intoxicated driver with a white Chevy Tahoe and temporary tags. Acting on this information, police located the vehicle parked outside the Dollar General at 1202 East Twelfth Avenue.
The pursuit quickly began after Mangus failed to comply with a traffic stop. Immediately following this refusal, the chase continued in the northeast and east-central areas of Emporia, then proceeded North on Highway 99 through Lyon County. Consequently, the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office deployed Stop Sticks on the highway, a tactic that successfully deflated the tires on Mangus’ vehicle.
With the vehicle disabled, officers arrested him and subsequently took him to the Lyon County Jail, where he faces counts of driving with a suspended license, felony fleeing and eluding law enforcement, and reckless driving.

8. Beyond the Car: Suspect in Jasper County bank heist arrested near Ladson Road – South Carolina

SUMMERVILLE, S.C. (WCIV) — The North Charleston Police Department arrested a suspect wanted for a Jasper County bank robbery near Ladson Road Wednesday. Specifically, police arrested Elton Clinton Atkins, a 46-year-old from Summerville, and charged him with entering a bank with the intent to steal.
The report on the arrest details that a license plate reader camera identified Atkins’s vehicle, which notified police of his location. Following this notification, a department captain subsequently spotted a vehicle matching the description on Highway 78, traveling toward Ladson road. Consequently, officers deployed Stop Sticks in the area as they worked to perform what they described as a high-risk traffic stop, just as Atkins’ vehicle came to a stop in the driveway of a residence.

9. Beyond the Car: One arrested after high-speed chase ends in northern Lyon County – Kansas

One person was arrested following a high-speed chase that ended Wednesday night in northern Lyon County, according to KVOE Radio. Initially, several law enforcement agencies were apparently involved in the pursuit, the radio station further added.
Emporia police say they helped the Kansas Highway Patrol with the chase. Which went through different parts of the city before eventually going out into the county. Police subsequently told KVOE that Lyon County sheriff’s deputies successfully deployed stop sticks at an undisclosed location, consequently leading to an arrest in northern Lyon County.
Law enforcement wasn’t confirming the identity of the person arrested as of early Thursday, KVOE notes. However, the Lyon County jail roster indicates a 38-year-old man was arrested shortly before 10:30 p.m. Wednesday on suspicion of fleeing and eluding and driving with a canceled, suspended, or revoked license, also according to KVOE.
