Midnight Mayhem:

You won’t believe the drama that unfolded in our area just after midnight on Thursday December 12, 2025! What started as a seemingly routine traffic stop quickly escalated into a full-blown, multi-county police pursuit involving a man wanted on some very serious charges.

The Chase Commence

The action kicked off around 12:15 a.m. when Frederick County deputies attempted to stop a Hyundai on Crestwood Boulevard. Instead of pulling over, the driver floored the vehicle, speeding off and heading north on Route 85.

Immediately, officials confirmed that the vehicle belonged to 27-year-old Suba Washington Jr. of Williamsport—and get this—he faced active warrants in Washington County on major charges, including kidnapping, first- and second-degree assault, and reckless endangerment!

High-Speed Drama and the Crucial Intervention

This was no short chase. Consequently, the pursuit covered a significant distance across Frederick County. In fact, Washington’s vehicle hit another car near Buckeystown Pike during the chase. Fortunately, officials reported that no one sustained injuries in that collision.

Nevertheless, the suspect kept going, leading deputies onto I-270 and then heading west on I-70.

Therefore, to bring this dangerous situation to a safe and definitive end, law enforcement utilized a key tactic. Deputies strategically deployed Stop Sticks near the Middletown exit.

Highlight:

For those unfamiliar, Stop Sticks (or spike strips) deflate a vehicle’s tires, forcing it to slow down to a manageable speed without causing an immediate loss of control—a critical measure for public safety during a high-speed chase. This tool was the game-changer that finally incapacitated the fleeing car!

Police Apprehend Suspect

Following the successful deployment of the Stop Sticks, the vehicle slowed down. Ultimately, with support from the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and Maryland State Police, the pursuit ended near the Route 40 exit.

Police took Suba Washington Jr. into custody.

The good news is that police safely released a 17-year-old passenger who was in the car.

Washington Jr. now faces his original felony warrants plus a long list of new charges, including reckless driving, negligent driving, and attempting to elude law enforcement.
