The Louisiana State Police: Mardi Gras Street Takeover incidents have led to further arrests, as detailed in this report. Louisiana State Troopers apprehended three more stunt drivers following a chaotic street takeover on Chef Menteur Highway. According to court records, the incident, part of a larger pattern of Mardi Gras-related stunt driving, involved high-speed police pursuits through a golf course and across the I-10 Twin Span & successfully ended with Stop Stick®.

With the arrest of 26-year-old Brody Gautreaux — booked in Slidell after state troopers disabled his Cadillac with Stop Sticks at the base of the Twin Span — the number of apprehensions rises to four.
Adel Nasher, 23, Kane Benjamin Ryan Smith, 26, and Deanta Belvin, 32, were arrested after allegedly fleeing the scene March 4 at Chef Menteur Highway, where a “vehicle stopped on Press Drive and blocked the roadway for other vehicles to start the street takeover with stunts in the intersection,” according to Smith’s affidavit for arrest warrant.
NOPD and Troop NOLA responded to the “takeover” at around 10:25 p.m., when “the sound of vehicles spinning their tires and revving their engines in the distance prompted” officers to investigate reports of reckless driving on Chef Menteur Highway.
Multiple vehicles fled when marked police units pulled up, according to court documents. Belvin allegedly fled in his gray Infinity Q50, leading troopers on a 90 mph chase through two residential neighborhoods with his lights off in “blackout mode,” an NOPD summary of the incident states. He then struck a curb and ran off the road and into a golf course. His Infiniti allegedly hit multiple bunkers, went airborne, and became disabled on the fairway, court documents show.
Belvin ran toward a baseball field but was arrested after a brief chase, the NOPD said. He was treated at a hospital for minor injuries, along with his two female passengers, court documents show.
Belvin was booked into the Orleans Justice Center on March 4 for negligent injuring, false certificate, vehicle must use lighted lamps, driving license suspended, no seat belt, hit and run driving, aggravated flight from an officer and flight from an officer, court records show.
Nasher was arrested about a week later after allegedly posting a video of his 2011 Cadillac CTS doing burnouts and donuts to his Instagram page, “adel_215.” State troopers recognized Nasher and his car from the Real Time Crime Center surveillance footage of the “takeover.”
