June 18 Stop Stick Deployments Ballard County Sheriff's Office

GAGE, Ky. (KFVS) – A Cairo, Illinois man was arrested following a police chase in western Kentucky.

Around 11:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 15, the Carlisle County Sheriff’s Office received a request for assistance from the Ballard County Sheriff’s Office regarding a vehicle chase on KY 286 eastbound, involving a silver Dodge Charger with Illinois license plates.

According to the Carlisle County Sheriff’s Office, the Ballard County Sheriff’s Office relayed information the vehicle was traveling over 100 miles per hour.

As the pursuit entered the Gage community, deputies said the vehicle turned around and headed back westbound on KY 286.

Ballard County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. James Campbell attempted to deploy spike strips in the path of the fleeing vehicle, but the sheriff’s office said the vehicle swerved toward Sgt. Campbell, almost striking him. However, Sgt Campbell successfully spiked multiple tires on the vehicle, causing it to become disabled near Wilson Rd and KY 286, where the driver exited the vehicle and took off running.

2. ‘I can’t call my parents?:’ Another street racing suspect arrested in Atlanta – Georgia

ATLANTA — Another street racing suspect in Atlanta has been arrested.

On Sunday at around 10:45 p.m., officers responded to Moreland Avenue in reference to some street racers doing donuts in the parking lot of an Aldi.

Officers saw a Dodge Charger doing donuts. Once officers tried to stop it, the driver was identified as 17-year-old Corbin Connors from Morrow.

An officer then threw a stop stick at Connors’ wheel, causing his tire to go flat. Connors was then arrested.

Connors was charged with fleeing and eluding along with reckless driving.

He was bonded out on Tuesday.

A 28-year-old Pevely woman was arrested for suspicion of driving while intoxicated after she allegedly almost hit a Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office patrol vehicle in House Springs. Deputies used spike strips to stop the pickup the woman was driving, authorities reported.

On May 25, deputies were called to the 7000 block of Justamere Hill Drive in House Springs because a black 2017 Ford F-250 was stolen and had a gun inside it. While responding, deputies also received reports of the pickup driving recklessly in the area, the report said.

Deputies located the pickup on Lower Byrnes Mill Road and attempted to stop it. However, the woman allegedly kept driving and nearly hit one of the deputies’ vehicles, according to the report.

The deputies did not pursue the pickup, but another deputy saw the F-250 turn onto eastbound Hwy. MM from Main Street. The deputy followed the pickup on the highway, and other deputies set up a spike strip on Hwy. MM, the report said.

The pickup went over the spike strip and became disabled near Buckeye Valley Road. The F-250 was traveling at about 25 mph when it went over the spike strip, according to the report.

4. Police chase through multiple San Diego County cities ends in 2 arrests – California

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) – A BMW led police on a high-speed chase early Friday morning from Barrio Logan through multiple cities around San Diego County before it ran over spike strips in Chula Vista and came to a stop.

Just after 12:30 a.m., San Diego Police officers attempted to pull over a car over on Logan Avenue in Barrio Logan for speeding, but the BMW did not stop and proceeded to lead police on a chase that reached speeds of at least 100 MPH.

During the pursuit, the BMW traveled from San Diego into La Mesa, and then proceeded to National City, Chula Vista, and Spring Valley.

At some point during the chase, road units backed off as the ABLE helicopter continued to track the car.

The BMW went back into the Chula Vista area, where it ran over spike strips and finally stopped on southbound Interstate 5 near state Route 905.

The two people inside the car surrendered to police and were arrested

6. Traffic stop leads to high-speed chase through Chase, Lyon and Coffey County Monday evening – Kansas

An Arizona man was arrested following a high-speed chase that led law enforcement through Chase, Lyon and Coffey County Monday evening.

According to Chase County Sheriff Jacob Welsh, around 9:40 p.m. Monday, a Chase County Deputy stopped a vehicle on US Highway 50 around mile marker 331.

“The initial stop was for speeding. During the encounter, the Deputy observed what appeared to be packages of illegal drugs inside the vehicle. When the driver was asked to step out of the vehicle, he drove away, initiating a pursuit,” Welsh said. “The suspect fled east on US Highway 50 out of Chase County and into Lyon County and came to a stop in the area of Old Highway 50 and Emmer Rd, in Coffey County.”

7. Police identify driver in pursuit ending in crash on Bel Air Boulevard – Alabama

MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) – Mobile Police have released new details on a pursuit that ended in a crash on Bel Air Boulevard Saturday night.

They identify the driver as Dwayne Alan Davis.

From Mobile Police:

On Saturday, June 15, 2024, at approximately 10:22 p.m., officers attempted to initiate a traffic stop near Airport Boulevard and Downtowner Boulevard, but the driver of the vehicle refused to stop. During the pursuit, officers deployed stop sticks in an effort to safely disable the vehicle. The pursuit ended when the subject wrecked his vehicle in the 600 block of Bel Air Boulevard. Dwayne Alan Davis, 32, was subsequently arrested and transported to Metro Jail.

Gee said the driver in question drove off and when police tried to stop him to see if he was all right, he refused to stop.

The man led police on a pursuit that eventually went toward Dauphin and Broad streets and onto Interstate 10, Interstate 65 and Government Boulevard before eventually heading east on Cottage Hill Road.

Speed at times reached as high as 90 mph during the chase and spike strips were deployed several time, Gee said.

Police have arrested eight people in two stolen cars after an extended follow ending in Point Cook and Laverton North this afternoon.

It is alleged the stolen Subaru and Kia vehicles were being driven erratically while travelling through the Wyndham and Melton areas on Monday 17 June.

Officers, with assistance from Air Wing, deployed stop sticks on Heaths Road, Hoppers Crossing immobilising the Subaru Impreza sedan about 12.15pm.

The Subaru continued onto Forsyth Road, Tarneit before it lost control shortly later.

Four males exited the car and allegedly attempted to flee from police.

Three males were arrested on The Strand and one male was arrested in the backyard of a Central Park Avenue property about 12.20pm.

9. Police Arrest Eight in Stolen Car Chase Across Wyndham – Australia

The eight males, aged between 15 and 17, are currently being questioned by police in connection with the incidents.

Police have apprehended eight individuals in connection with the theft of two vehicles after a lengthy pursuit that ended in Point Cook and Laverton North this afternoon.

According to authorities, the stolen Subaru and Kia cars were being driven recklessly as they travelled through the Wyndham and Melton areas on Monday, June 17. After an extended chase, officers, with the help of the Air Wing, were able to deploy stop sticks on Heaths Road in Hoppers Crossing, successfully immobilizing the Subaru Impreza sedan around 12:15pm.

The Subaru then continued onto Forsyth Road in Tarneit before losing control and coming to a stop shortly after in Point Cook. Four males fled from the vehicle and attempted to escape from police. However, three of them were apprehended on The Strand and one was caught in the backyard of a Central Park Avenue property at approximately 12:20 pm.

Meanwhile, the Air Wing was able to track the second stolen vehicle, a Kia Sorrento SUV, as it travelled on Fitzgerald Road in Laverton North just after 1 pm. Police were able to apprehend all four occupants of the vehicle after smashing a window.

10. Suspect in Fairfield County arrested following pursuit – Ohio

A man is in custody after a pursuit by Fairfield County Sheriff’s deputies on Thursday.

The Fairfield County Sheriff’s Office said undercover units saw the man, who was a known suspect, leave a home on Sheridan Drive with a firearm, which authorities said he was not lawfully able to possess.

Deputies tried to stop the man in his vehicle, but he drove away. During a pursuit, assisting officers with Baltimore Police deployed spike strips, causing two of the suspect’s tires to go flat.

The suspect, identified as Granville Gibson drove back to Sheridan Dive and was taken into custody. Authorities charged him with three counts of weapons under disability, failure to comply and tampering with evidence.
