Police arrested a man after a brief pursuit in Menifee on Friday.

They were called to the 29000 block of Peacock Mountain Drive just after 8 a.m. after receiving reports of a man possibly armed with a gun in the area, according to the Menifee Police Department.

Officers arrived and learned that the suspect, identified as 26-year-old Joe Felix Jr., was the subject of a court-issued restraining order that forbid him from being within 100 yards of the unidentified victim, police said.

Police say that Felix Jr. left the scene prior to their arrival, but with help from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department aerial unit, they found him as he was traveling westbound on Newport Road towards Lake Elsinore.

An unmarked unit began to follow his vehicle, while at the same time sheriff’s units attempted to perform a traffic stop near Railroad Canyon Road and the I-15 Freeway. Felix Jr. did not stop, however, prompting a pursuit to begin.

As Felix Jr. began to drive back towards the victim’s home in Menifee, officers used tire-deflation devices called stop sticks to deflate all four tires on his vehicle. He was arrested without further incident.

YORK COUNTY, S.C. — A Rock Hill police officer shot a woman in York County early Saturday evening after she reportedly aimed a gun at law enforcement.

The York County Sheriff’s Office said it responded around 6 p.m. along Nassaw Circle near Young Warrior Town Drive. Deputies said it was reported the woman had been firing a gun out of a Jeep. The sheriff’s office said she was located along Noostee Town Drive, but she pointed at an approaching deputy before driving away.

A chase ensued. Deputies used stop sticks along Cheryl Lynn Drive to deflate the Jeep’s tires, and the woman eventually stopped along Sturgis Road. While deputies tried to negotiate with her, an officer with the Rock Hill Police Department fired a single round, striking her in the shoulder.

First responders provided her with medical aid before she was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. She remains in stable condition, and no law enforcement officers were hurt in the shooting.

Grundy County sheriff’s deputies assisted Ottawa police with a fleeing suspect on Sunday, June 22nd, at around 10:50 AM. Deputies assisted the Ottawa Police Department who were in a pursuit of a vehicle where the driver was suspected of DUI.

Ottawa police officers had attempted to stop the vehicle at McDonald’s on Norris Drive after receiving a complaint that the driver was possibly intoxicated and had opened alcohol inside.

The vehicle, a white 2013 Volkswagen Passat, fled from officers after they contacted the driver in the parking lot. Ottawa officers pursued the vehicle eastbound on I-80 and asked for assistance from sheriff’s deputies on the Illinois State Police Emergency Radio Network.

Near the 117 mile marker, a Grundy County deputy was able to successfully deploy a tire deflation device (stop sticks), causing a tire on the vehicle to slowly lose air. The vehicle continued driving and a second set of stop sticks were deployed by an officer with the Minooka Police Department striking another tire on the vehicle at the 119 mile marker.
