1. Public Safety in Focus: Tractor Cab Theft Turns Into GPS-guided Police Chase Through Waldorf: Sheriff – Maryland

The incident began around 2 a.m. on Feb. 5, when a Charles County deputy was flagged down near Ell Lane and Route 5 in Waldorf, officials said. The owner reported that his 2015 Kenworth truck tractor — without the trailer — had been stolen and was actively being tracked using a GPS device.
Officers located the stolen cab traveling southbound on Route 5 near Leonardtown Road and Bryantown Road and attempted to initiate a traffic stop, according to the sheriff’s office.
Instead, the driver refused to stop and barreled ahead toward St. Mary’s County.
Then, law enforcement got creative.
Deputies with the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office assisted by controlling intersections and deploying stop sticks, which disabled the truck near Friendship School Road.
PORTAGE, Wis. (WMTV) – Authorities arrested a Wisconsin man Thursday after he allegedly tried to speed off from Columbia County deputies during a traffic stop.
A Columbia County Sheriff’s Office deputy reported seeing a vehicle driving out of control and speeding just before 4:40 p.m. on Highway 33, near Caledonia Street, in Portage.
The deputy pulled the driver over, and reported smelling drugs coming from the car. The driver allegedly stopped listening to the officer, shut his window and tried to speed off.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, a deputy put a tire deflation device under one of the tires before the driver could take off. As the suspect drove away, a tire was punctured.
Columbia Co. officials said a second spike strip was put under another tire before the suspect drove off.
Deputies alleged the suspect passed multiple vehicles on the shoulder before coming to a stop on Highway 33, near Fairfield Road. The highway was shut down for about five minutes while deputies arrested 43-year-old Donald Marshinsky, of Chippewa Falls.

3. Public Safety in Focus: Calera PD assists Jemison PD with pursuit, arrest of suspect – Alabama

CALERA – The Calera Police Department assisted the Jemison Police Department with the apprehension and arrest of a suspect who was attempting to evade being taken into custody.
At 9:25 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 5, Jemison PD notified Calera PD that they had officers actively pursuing a vehicle traveling at high speeds while heading north on Highway 31.
Calera PD officers were able to set up spike strips at the county line and managed to get the vehicle stopped. Jemison PD then managed to apprehend the suspect and take them into custody.

4. Public Safety in Focus: Two charged after alleged armed home invasion in Narre Warren South – Australia

A Doveton man and a Berwick man have been charged following an alleged armed home invasion in Narre Warren South during the early morning of Wednesday 4 February.
South Metro Crime Squad Detectives believe the offender’s forced entry into the property, armed with a loaded sawn-off shotgun and an edged weapon just before 2am
A 30-year-old male was at home at the time of the home invasion.
The offenders allegedly stole a Mercedes SUV wagon and fled the scene.
Police were able to track the vehicle and followed the offenders through multiple suburbs including Berwick, Narre Warren North and Narre Warren.
Stop sticks were deployed and the alleged stolen vehicles came to a stop on Narre Warren North Road.

5. Public Safety in Focus: Fond du Lac County, WI – Police Pursuit Ends After Spike Strip on STH 26 – Wisconsin

Fond du Lac County, Wisconsin – A multi-county vehicle pursuit ended Wednesday afternoon after deputies deployed spike strips on State Highway 26, leading to two arrests without injuries.
According to the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office, the incident began at approximately 4:34 p.m. Wednesday when authorities were notified by the Brown County Sheriff’s Office of an attempt to locate a vehicle involved in an earlier pursuit. Officials said the suspect vehicle had allegedly fled a traffic stop in Brown County, striking a Brown County Sheriff’s Office law enforcement vehicle during the incident.
Brown County deputies advised that the vehicle’s operator allegedly faced potential charges including felony fleeing or eluding, first-degree reckless endangering safety, hit-and-run, and felony possession of a firearm. Authorities also reported that occupants of the vehicle allegedly discarded a firearm and quantities of drugs during the initial pursuit.
A Village of Rosendale police officer later located the vehicle traveling southbound on State Highway 26 in Fond du Lac County. Deputies attempted a traffic stop after a high-risk stop was conducted and the vehicle initially pulled over. Officials said the driver then fled again at a high rate of speed.
A Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office sergeant deployed a tire deflation device, which the suspect vehicle struck, causing both driver-side tires to deflate.

6. Public Safety in Focus: High-speed chase across Howell County, Mo., ends in arrest – Missouri

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) – A high-speed chase across Howell County ended with a driver in jail on charges of resisting arrest by fleeing.
The pursuit began near Willow Springs just before midnight Jan. 30. The pickup truck reached speeds of 90 mph before deputies used spike strips to end the chase in Mountain View.
Christopher Wallace faces charges of resisting arrest by fleeing. He is held on a $25,000 bond.

7. Public Safety in Focus: Two arrested following lengthy pursuit that ended after spike strip, Taser deployment – Idaho

A driver and passenger whose fleeing vehicle stopped just short of hitting the former Shari’s restaurant building on West Broadway Street in Idaho Falls on Tuesday afternoon face multiple charges.
The episode began around 2 p.m. when the Idaho Falls Police Department requested assistance from the Idaho State Police while attempting to serve a warrant at a rest area near milepost 101 on Interstate 15 north of Blackfoot.
According to Jessica Clements, Idaho Falls Police spokeswoman, investigators requested the assistance to serve a search warrant on John Geyer, 29, and his vehicle as part of an ongoing narcotics investigation. Geyer also had an active felony failure to appear warrant from Bingham County.
State police attempted to initiate a traffic stop at the rest stop north of Blackfoot, near mile marker 101 on I-15, but Geyer fled northbound on I-15, according to Idaho State Police. Troopers successfully deployed spike strips.

Last Friday, authorities identified three officers injured during a high-speed chase involving a Vermont woman. The incident began on Route 115 in Jefferson when Marisa Levesque allegedly stole a truck. Rather than stopping, Levesque struck multiple police cruisers and led a chase across state lines.
To end the danger, police finally deployed spike strips in Barnet to disable the stolen vehicle. During the pursuit, Levesque rammed cruisers belonging to Troopers Jeremy Brann and Andrew Eastman. She also struck a vehicle driven by Littleton Police Officer Timothy Monahan. Following the collisions, all three officers received medical evaluations for minor injuries at a local hospital.
On Monday, Levesque appeared in Caledonia County Court and pleaded not guilty. According to court documents, Vermont will soon extradite her back to New Hampshire. There, she faces multiple felony charges, including first-degree assault with a deadly weapon. She also faces counts for reckless conduct and disobeying a police officer.

9. Public Safety in Focus: 2 Arrested After U-Haul Truck Standoff in Flagler Beach – Florida

On a Monday morning in early February, the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office (FCSO) initiated an intense standoff on SR-A1A after two suspects in a U-Haul truck fled a suspicious activity call. The incident began near the Hammock Dunes Bridge in Palm Coast, where a resident spotted 48-year-old May Ling Ip and 40-year-old Jamie Allen Mays parked on the sidewalk. Upon investigating, a deputy approached the truck and overheard a woman yelling about money. However, as soon as the deputy identified himself, Ip slammed the door and drove away.
Following a brief “cat-and-mouse” game where the suspects repeatedly stopped and then accelerated as the deputy approached, the truck eventually sped toward SR-A1A. To bring the dangerous pursuit to an end, Flagler Beach police successfully deployed stop sticks near North 18th Street. Despite having punctured tires, the truck continued south until several agency vehicles surrounded it near North 15th Street.
Instead of surrendering, the suspects initiated a standoff that lasted over an hour, during which Ip was even seen casually brushing her teeth inside the cab. To resolve the stalemate, the SWAT team utilized less-lethal “shatterballs” to break the windows and deployed aerosol spray into the vehicle. While Mays eventually surrendered after K-9 Mako entered the truck, Ip fled on foot toward the beach. In a final attempt to escape, she resisted arrest and tried to bite a sergeant before K-9 Guapo successfully took her down. Consequently, authorities charged both Gainesville residents with multiple offenses, including felony fleeing and battery on a law enforcement officer.

In early February 2026, Thurston County Sheriff Derek Sanders released dramatic body camera footage capturing deputies as they successfully terminated a high-velocity pursuit using spike strips.
The incident began when a BMW with no license plates blew through a red light after spotting a K-9 unit. Instead of stopping, the driver accelerated to speeds exceeding 150 mph, hurtling past patrol cruisers and merging into moderate highway traffic. To neutralize the threat, a deputy positioned ahead of the vehicle deployed spike strips across the roadway. The maneuver worked perfectly, puncturing all of the suspect’s tires without damaging any other vehicles.
Immediately following the hit, the deputy confirmed the success over the radio: “Good spike, all tires.” Shortly thereafter, the dash cam footage shows the BMW grinding to a halt. To conclude the operation, deputies swarmed the vehicle and took the driver into custody without further incident. Following the arrest, authorities discovered the driver had a suspended license and admitted to removing the plates to evade detection.
