A wild chase through New Jersey ended early morning after police used spike strips to stop a luxury car thief.
The streets of New Jersey roared to life in the middle of the night as police chased after a team of luxury car thieves behind the wheel of a $250,000 purple Lamborghini.
Surveillance video at MoeModz, a car customization shop in Elmwood Park, appears to show a pair of thieves break a window before getting inside, swiping the keys, and racing off with the pricey SUV. The team was quick: the video was captured around 3 a.m. Monday shows them in and out in less than a minute.
Police were quick to track down the SUV, thanks to an AirTag left in the vehicle by the store’s owner. Officers chased after the Lamborghini, which reportedly reached speeds of 100 mph on the Garden State Parkway and on Route 17 with flat tires.

WHITE RIVER JUNCTION — An Orford teenager led police on a high-speed pursuit on Sunday night that stretched from Claremont to Hartford and ended when police deployed spike strips on Interstate 91, according to authorities.
Around 11 p.m. Sunday, Claremont police attempted to pull over a driver operating a Dodge pickup truck without its headlights on Mulberry Street. The driver refused to stop, said Claremont Police Chief Brent Wilmot, and instead fled from the police with three passengers through Claremont and onto northbound I-91.
The driver’s speed varied throughout the 21-minute chase, starting at about 30 mph in a residential neighborhood and reaching 90 mph on the interstate, Wilmot said Monday by phone. The interstate speed limit is generally 65 miles per hour.

MOBILE, Ala. (NBC 15) — According to Mobile Police, officers attempted to stop a vehicle in the area of Dauphin Island Parkway SB and Douglas Lane that had been reported stolen earlier.
Police say the driver refused to stop despite audible sirens and visible blue emergency lights. Officers successfully deployed stop sticks, which the driver then struck. The vehicle stopped near Dauphin Island Parkway and Cedar Crescent Drive, where two individuals fled on foot.

4. Stopping High-Risk Vehicles: Rock County man given maximum sentence after 12th OWI offense – Wisconsin
JANESVILLE, Wis. — A local man has been given the maximum sentence after his twelfth offense for driving while intoxicated.
On Sept. 2, 2025, a Janesville Police Officer pulled over a pickup truck just after 11:30 p.m. Its driver was identified as 60-year-old Bradley Skelly of Janesville. Skelly was said to have been driving without a license or insurance.
Police said Skelly waited until the officer started walking toward him, then drove away and turned off all his lights. Skelly was said to have driven through construction zones and on the sidewalk before officers tried to stop him.
Officers used “stop sticks” to deflate Skelly’s tires, but he kept driving, even when they became flat. After his truck was stopped by police, he ran from JPD on foot before being arrested.

Late Sunday night, a speeding SUV barreled through rain-slick roads, ignored an attempted traffic stop, and refused to yield even after spike strips completely shredded its tires. Ultimately, police arrested the 25-year-old driver on felony evading and DUI charges following the chaotic chase.
The incident began near Lakeville Street and Wilson Street when a Petaluma Police Department officer spotted the SUV traveling well above the posted 30 mph speed limit despite the hazardous, wet conditions. Furthermore, a quick records check revealed that the vehicle’s registration was suspended. After the officer observed additional traffic violations, they attempted to pull the driver over. Instead of stopping, however, the driver stomped on the gas and accelerated onto northbound U.S. Highway 101.
From there, the pursuit raced straight into Rohnert Park. To intercept the threat, officers from the Rohnert Park Department of Public Safety deployed spike strips near the Santa Rosa Avenue exit, successfully puncturing both of the SUV’s driver-side tires. Despite the severe damage, the driver aggressively continued weaving across multiple highway lanes before finally exiting at Yolanda Avenue.
Consequently, the chase reached its breaking point on Santa Rosa Avenue. As the shredded tires disintegrated, bright sparks shot from the vehicle’s bare metal rims, finally grinding the SUV to a complete halt and allowing officers to arrest the driver without further incident.

6. Stopping High-Risk Vehicles: Seattle man allegedly drives Porsche at worker, punches officer at Bainbridge ferry terminal – Washington

A Seattle man in his 80s was arrested Sunday after he allegedly nearly struck a worker directing traffic outside the Bainbridge Island ferry terminal with his Porsche.
Bainbridge Island Police arrived in the afternoon after being told an orange Porsche was nearly involved in a collision, and then attempted to hit a ferry worker at the intersection of Winslow Way and Olympic Drive, according to a probable cause statement obtained by The Kitsap Sun.
The ferry worker told an officer that the driver tried to turn right from eastbound Winslow Way, ignoring posted signs that prohibit right turns at that intersection. After the worker told the driver that he could not make the turn, he accelerated toward him, according to the incident report.

7. Stopping High-Risk Vehicles: Two Arrested Following Armed Robbery and High Speed Chase in Waldorf – Maryland
On Tuesday, April 21, 2026, at approximately 2:08 p.m., Charles County police officers rushed to the Family Dollar at 153 Smallwood Village Center in Waldorf following reports of an armed robbery. Immediately, 911 callers alerted dispatchers that an armed suspect had pulled a firearm and fled the scene in a dark-colored Chevrolet Cruze.
Remarkably, the vehicle description matched a car from a previous armed robbery just one day prior on Monday, April 20th. Consequently, dispatchers broadcasted an urgent “be on the lookout” (BOLO) alert to police across St. Mary’s, Charles, and Prince George’s County.
Within ten minutes, eagle-eyed deputies located the Chevrolet Cruze. Furthermore, they discovered a second vehicle closely trailing the Cruze, which investigators later identified as an accomplice. As soon as police initiated the chase, the driver of the second suspect vehicle aggressively attempted to ram the deputies’ patrol vehicles to protect the Cruze.
Despite speeds skyrocketing over 75 mph, deputies skillfully moved ahead of the chaos and deployed multiple sets of spike strips. As a result, after a tense 10-minute pursuit, the spike strips successfully disabled both vehicles. Although the suspects abandoned the cars to flee on foot, officers established a perimeter, conducted a rapid ground search, and quickly took the dangerous individuals into custody.

The California Highway Patrol is in pursuit of a driver wanted for speeding through Los Angeles County on Thursday night.
Aerial footage of the pursuit showed the driver in a gray SUV swerving through lanes on the northbound 101 Freeway, using the shoulder lanes to get around other vehicles and traveling at a high rate of speed.
At certain points, the driver was traveling at speeds up to 115 mph and on the wrong side of the road.

9. Stopping High-Risk Vehicles: Pinole man arrested in Hercules after dangerous car chase – California

On Friday, April 17, Hercules police officers arrested a 42-year-old Pinole man after he led law enforcement on a dangerous car chase spanning multiple jurisdictions.
According to recently released video footage, the incident began around 9:55 p.m. when Pinole police officers tried to pull over a white Infiniti Q50 near Interstate 80. Instead of stopping, the driver stomped on the gas and crossed into Hercules, prompting local Hercules officers to take over the pursuit. Although Hercules police spotted the vehicle several times, the driver aggressively refused to yield and even executed a sharp U-turn to evade them. Consequently, supervisors terminated the pursuit because the suspect’s behavior created too much danger for the public.
However, officers did not lose track of the threat. Instead, they utilized Flock Safety license plate reader cameras to pinpoint the vehicle’s new location near Lupine Road. Because the driver continued to operate the vehicle recklessly, officers quickly deployed a spike strip, flattening the Infiniti’s tires and forcing the vehicle to a crawl.
Ultimately, the chase ended on Redwood Road when the driver abandoned the disabled car and fled on foot. His escape short-circuited, however, when he tripped over a planter box while trying to scale neighborhood fences, allowing pursuing officers to safely hook him in handcuffs.

10. Stopping High-Risk Vehicles: Slow-speed chase ends with pepper balls thrown near San Diego grocery store – California

The 35-minute police pursuit began just before 6:10 p.m. when 36-year-old Elias Wisar sped past a Washington State Patrol trooper, who was conducting an unrelated traffic stop near the Columbia Park Trail exit. Because Trooper Carlos Mata suspected Wisar was driving impaired, the trooper immediately caught up to the silver sedan and signaled for the driver to pull over.
Instead of complying, Wisar stomped on the gas, tore onto Interstate 182, and transitioned onto the Highway 240 bypass. According to Trooper Mata, Wisar quickly pushed the sedan to reckless speeds of 90 mph. Consequently, when Wisar began driving directly into oncoming lanes of traffic, the trooper backed off and terminated the active pursuit to protect public safety.
Moments later, Wisar turned around near the Yakima barricade and headed back toward Richland. To end the threat, officers quickly moved ahead of the chase and laid out a spike strip, successfully deflating two of the sedan’s tires. Despite the blowout, Wisar continued driving in the oncoming lanes of Highway 240. Finally, the disabled sedan drifted toward the curb and came to a halt near the Richland Airport, where Wisar opened the driver-side door and surrendered.
