As the first week of Operation Safe Streets II progresses, the task force continues to make arrests of human smuggling suspects.
New information emerged in relation to a pursuit on Tuesday, when around 10 p.m., deputies with the Cochise County Sheriff’s Office were informed that a white Dodge Charger had fled from another agency in Hereford, and was traveling at high speeds towards Sierra Vista.
A CCSO deputy saw a vehicle that matched this description at Highway 90 and Airport Rd., and while they were trying to catch up, an officer from the Huachuca City Police Department noted the vehicle driving through the town at more than 100 mph.
Law enforcement began a pursuit of the Charger after it nearly had a crash with another vehicle at the Highway 90 and 82 intersections.
“Sierra Vista and Benson patrol deputies pursued the vehicle North on Highway 90 confirming speeds of 120 mph,” a post of CCSO’s Facebook page said.
As the pursuit moved towards Benson, contact was made with the Benson Police Department who closed an intersection on Highway 90 near Love’s Truck Stop. CCSO says that as the vehicle entered the westbound I-10 on ramp, it hit spike strips placed by the Benson Police and US Border Patrol and briefly stopped, as two occupants fled into the brush
The vehicle drove down I-10 for about two miles before coming to a stop from tire deflation.

On 10/26/2023, at about 8:45 pm, Humboldt County Sheriff’s Deputies were on patrol in the area of the US Highway 101 and Highway 36 interchange. A Toyota truck, known to the Deputies to have been used in the commission of a recent burglary and vehicle theft, was observed traveling northbound on Sandy Prairie Road, Alton. The Deputies attempted a traffic enforcement stop and the truck fled, prompting a short pursuit.
The pursuit was discontinued when the truck began traveling on US Hwy 101, southbound in the northbound travel lanes. The truck proceeded at a slow rate of speed to the area of US Hwy 101 and Metropolitan Road when the truck experienced mechanical failure and came to a stop. HCSO Deputies, assisted by Fortuna Police and Rio Dell Police Officers, established a traffic closure on the highway and deployed spike strips to further contain the truck. The driver of the truck, identified as 34-year-old Clayton Miller of Fortuna, was uncooperative with Deputies/ Officers and a K9 unit was deployed during his apprehension.

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas (KTRK) — Another wrong-way driver on the Westpark Tollway was arrested after allegedly leading deputies on a 12-mile chase last week.
The Harris County Constable’s Office Precinct 5 arrested 39-year-old Arthur Elton Jefferson, charged with driving while intoxicated and evading arrest.
In the early morning of Oct. 16, deputies said they were alerted of a wrong-way driver on the toll road at Post Oak. The driver was going westbound in the eastbound lanes at a high speed, authorities said.
Pct. 5 deputies said they tried multiple times to get his attention, but nothing seemed to work, prompting a pursuit that reportedly lasted 12 miles.
The constable’s office also shared traffic camera footage showing the driver going the wrong way for some time. Deputies finally got him to stop by putting out spike strips, and thankfully, there were no crashes or injuries.

A man from Ft.| Pierce was taken into custody Tuesday after initiating a high-speed pursuit in Sebastian, reaching speeds nearing 100 mph.
Deputies received alerts about a potentially dangerous driver piloting a white Toyota Tacoma on U.S. Highway 1, who was reportedly exceeding speeds of 100 mph.
Upon spotting the truck, notably swerving between lanes, the chase began as the vehicle turned westward onto CR-510. The driver discarded an unidentified object from the window and accelerated to 80 mph. Despite the deputies’ efforts to stop the truck using their lights and sirens, the driver disregarded public safety, as stated in official documents.
Close to 90th Avenue, another deputy awaited him, effectively blocking all southward traffic near Sebastian River High School. Even after authorities utilized stop sticks, the Tacoma driver maintained a speed of over 80 mph.

WESTPORT — Three teenagers were caught early Sunday after trying to break into cars parked in a resident’s driveway, police said.
The trio was nabbed on Interstate 95 trying to flee from police a day before nine people — three young adults and six juveniles — were charged with similar crimes in town. The latter suspects were apprehended after causing chaos on local streets attempting to elude police.
One of the teens arrested Sunday — 18-year-old Kenmar Shyaam Ausar-Allen, of Meriden — was charged as an adult, while his 17- and 16-year-old accomplices were charged as juveniles.
Police said a local homeowner called “911” shortly before 4:30 a.m. Sunday to report that intruders in his driveway were trying to break into parked vehicles.

Ryan David Anderson, 41, of Bremerton, has been charged with theft of two motor vehicles, attempting to elude a police unit in pursuit and 10 counts of second degree theft in Superior Court.
According to Jefferson County Sheriff’s Officer (JCSO) Art Frank’s probable cause statement, on August 25 a chase began with two JCSO patrol units in pursuit of Anderson, and that the 2014 Toyota Scion was being driven at high speeds, recklessly and was the reason for several units to be covering the area in the chase.
Frank’s wrote that at one point Anderson had slowed the Scion to about 10 mph and came to a full stop to decide where to go, taking a moment to roll down his window and look at the deputy. Frank yelled at him multiple times to stop fleeing, but Anderson continued off and soon drove over a spike strip and into a ditch, disabling the vehicle.

A Kansas City man has been charged after a high-speed chase on Interstate 70 in Montgomery County.
On Saturday, October 21, 2023, a Montgomery County deputy saw a stolen 2015 Dodge Challenger driving west on I-70.
Deputies tried to pull the car over, but it wouldn’t stop.
The chase reached speeds of 120 miles per hour. Court documents state that deputies said the car was passing other vehicles on the shoulder, followed too close, and cut off vehicles.
Around the 149.8-mile marker, a Callaway County deputy was able to deploy spike strips, which deflated the car’s front tires.
The car kept going, slowing to 100 miles per hour.
As the chase got closer to Kingdom City, the car went off the north side of the road and stopped near Station #3 of the Callaway County Ambulance District because of the damage to the rims of the tires.

WILLIAMSON COUNTY, Ill. (WJPF) – A man has been arrested after stealing a vehicle in Shawneetown and leading police on a high speed chase that ended near Marion.
The Williamson County Sheriff’s says they were notified around 5:00 p.m. Thursday that the stolen auto was headed their way. Deputies deployed stop sticks near the intersection of Route 13 and Stilley’s Mill Road. The stop sticks blew out both driver’s side tires, but that didn’t stop the chase. The driver continued heading west on Route 13, eventually crashing into a squad car near the intersection of Routes 13 and 166.
The driver, Jonathan Terrell, was arrested on a number of charges including felony DUI, possession of a stolen vehicle, and aggravated fleeing and eluding. More charges are expected to be filed.

Such a hair-raising scene experienced by law enforcement officers is the mobile police pursuit whereby all the senses ignite and the objectives taught during ample training days come to fruition.
Recently, the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office (VCSO) in Florida uploaded footage recorded by a deputy’s BWC as he maneuvered his cruiser during a pursuit. Exhibiting a dizzying display of automobile handling at super-high speeds.
Stop sticks were involved. Multiple police agency coordination was also a key component.

Police arrested a man after his attempt to flee from a traffic stop ended when stop sticks deflated all four of his tires.
Officers from the China Grove Police Department attempted to perform a traffic stop on a Mercedes Benz E300. The driver of the Mercedes then fled onto Interstate 85 heading north. Deputy Lucas Black joined the chase around the Julian Road exit and took over as the lead car. The driver proceeded on the interstate until he exited onto Long Ferry Road.
During the pursuit, Black reportedly relayed that the driver had tossed a bag of marijuana out of his window.

Deputies say that a driver came to a slow stop after authorities deployed Stop Sticks to end the attempt to outrun law enforcement.
According to the report, China Grove Police Department officers initiated a traffic stop on a Mercedes Benz. However, the driver fled toward I-85, and the officers pursued him.
The driver then turned onto northbound I-85. Deputy Lucas Black of the Rowan Sheriff’s Office joined the chase at Julian Road, the report said.
The Mercedes next left the interstate at Long Ferry Road, heading east. Afterward, the driver turned onto Leonard Road, and finally, turned back onto Long Ferry Road at Goodman Lake.

Spooky Pursuit Stories: Atlanta pair arrested after high-speed chase – Georgia
FORSYTH COUNTY, Ga. — Forsyth County deputies arrested two Atlanta men Sept. 25 on multiple charges following a high-speed chase on Ga. 400.
Deputies reported observing a Honda Civic stopped on the right shoulder of the exit 15 ramp on northbound Ga. 400 around 11 p.m. Sept. 24. When deputies approached the vehicle, it pulled out in front of another vehicle without its headlights on.
The suspect vehicle drove through the red light onto Bald Ridge Marina Road, and deputies pursued the vehicle onto southbound.
Deputies reported the suspect vehicle entered the highway at 90 mph and accelerated beyond 100 mph. Deputies could not perform a PIT maneuver because of the speeds and presence of other drivers, the report states.
