Brian Battick, 21, is set for a Jan. 11 preliminary hearing in Evanston Circuit Court, where he can argue that authorities didn’t have probable cause to arrest him when they chased him into Wyoming from Utah on Interstate 80 earlier this month.

Meanwhile, Battick’s co-defendant Vernon Laws, who is 20 this year, waived his preliminary hearing Friday and is being prosecuted in the felony-level Uinta County District Court.

Two Spike Strips And A Run 

It started as a high-speed chase in Utah.

At 10:13 p.m. Oct. 5, Wyoming Highway Patrol Trooper Kyle Coudriet learned from dispatch that Summit County, Utah, authorities had lost sight of a red Dodge Charger on I-80, heading east into Wyoming.

Coudriet sat in the median with his rear-facing radar activated. By 10:38 p.m., a red Dodge Charger hurtled past at 87 mph, according to Coudriet’s evidentiary affidavit filed in the case.

Sun Prairie, Wis.| (WMTV) – A Walmart Supercenter associate in Sun Prairie is suffering from multiple stab wounds after being attacked by a man Monday night, police reported.

Sun Prairie Police Department said just after 10:15 p.m. Monday, the suspect, Miguel Angel Barajas-Ceballos, 22, of Sun Prairie, walked into the Walmart and started attacking the victim, a 36-year-old man.

The victim was stabbed multiple times before Barajas-Ceballos drove away. Sun Prairie Police Dept. Lt. Ryan Cox said most of the victim’s stab wounds were on his back and head.

Police determined the suspect was driving a silver sedan, which was spotted near W. Main Street and O’keeffe Avenue. Officers tried to pull the car over, but it continued driving onto Highway 151, reaching speeds of more than 100 mph. Police continued to chase the vehicle to Madison, where officers requested assistance from neighboring agencies.

BRENTWOOD, Mo.| (KMOV) – Brentwood city leaders voted Monday to change the city’s police tactical pursuit policy, giving officers more leeway to chase suspects of violent crime.

Police will now have the ability to use spike strips on carjacking suspects, as well as those that flee from police.

The sentiment of Brentwood residents First Alert 4 found was clear: police should chase suspects of crime so they don’t keep committing those same crimes.

“I don’t care if it’s a carjacking, a robbery or a shooting. The more you let them get away with it, the more they do,” said Laurel Ziehl.

“If they want to pursue more aggressively, I don’t have a problem with it,” said Rick Nolls.

Police were called to the 700 block of 6th Avenue West shortly after 8 p.m. Sunday on a report of a hit and run of an unattended vehicle. Officers quickly found the vehicle and attempted a traffic stop but the vehicle fled and there was a chase.

Police used stop sticks to stop the vehicle at the intersection of 32nd Avenue and Veterans Boulevard.

The driver and two passengers fled on foot. The male driver was arrested and transported to juvenile detention on charges of possession of a stolen vehicle and fleeing in a motor vehicle. Additional charges are possible.

The two passengers were not detained.

Daylon K. Richardson, 24, was fleeing from Knox County deputies after they spotted him with a gun at a Galesburg gas station. Ultimately, as Deputy Nicholas Weist deployed Stop Sticks on Rt. 150 at Alpha to halt Richardson’s vehicle, the car tragically struck the deputy.

During a status hearing on Friday, Judge Norma Kauzlarich announced she would allow defense attorney Bruce Carmen to argue that authorities should have charged Richardson with reckless homicide. The judge stated, “I’m not going to prohibit you from making that argument in an opening statement.” In addition, the court asked Henry County State’s Attorney Catherine Runty to provide her opinion.

San Angelo – One man is in custody after a vehicle pursuit Saturday evening in the Southeast side of San Angelo. Forty-year-old Samuel Sutton was taken into custody and is facing multiple felony charges in connection to this incident.

An SAPD patrol officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a Dodge Ram pickup after the pickup nearly collided with the officer’s patrol unit near the intersection of State Street and Paint Rock Road. The driver of the pickup failed to stop and led officers on an almost 10-minute vehicle pursuit in the Southeast part of town.

An officer with the SAPD’s Anti-Crime Unit was able to position himself in front of the pursuit and successfully deploy “Stop Sticks” in front of the suspect vehicle. The suspect vehicle drove over the “Stop Sticks” and this resulted in the deflation of the vehicle’s front left tire.

Due to the successful “Stop Stick” deployment, the pursuit safely ended near the intersection of Preusser and Emerick Street. As we reported Sunday, Sutton was taken into custody and was charged with the below offenses:

SUFFIELD — Officers apprehended an underage girl on Sunday after she and four others drove a stolen car into town from Massachusetts and then attempted to run away, police said.

Suffield police said the suspects were driving a vehicle that was reportedly connected with a series of car burglaries in Southwick, Mass.

Just before midnight on Monday, the Police Air Wing spotted an allegedly stolen black Holden Cruze wagon driving erratically on High Street, Lalor. Consequently, the Air Wing maintained an aerial platform while the Holden allegedly clocked speeds up to 180 kilometers an hour.

Subsequently, police followed the vehicle from a distance, and officers deployed Stop Sticks on the Western Ring Road at approximately 1:40 a.m. on Tuesday. Following the deployment, the wagon exited onto Keilor Park Drive, Keilor East, and then came to a stop.

Finally, the driver and passenger surrendered to police and officers arrested them at the scene. Police charged a 17-year-old Lalor boy and a 16-year-old Mernda boy with several offenses, including theft of a motor vehicle.

Initially, West Fargo Police responded to a hit-and-run report involving an unattended vehicle on the 700 block of 6th Avenue W around 8:15 p.m. on Sunday, October 15. Subsequently, officers quickly located the suspected vehicle and attempted a traffic stop; however, the driver fled and began a police chase.

During the pursuit, officers successfully deployed Stop Sticks, bringing the vehicle to a stop at the intersection of 32nd Avenue and Veterans Boulevard. Immediately after, the driver and two passengers exited the vehicle and fled on foot. Police arrested the driver, a juvenile male, and transported him to juvenile detention, charging him with possession of a stolen vehicle and fleeing in a motor vehicle. Authorities expect to file additional charges. The suspect remains unidentified.
