Baker County Repeat Offender Sentenced to More than 15 Years in Federal Prison for Illegally Possessing Methamphetamine and Firearms Oregon

EUGENE, Ore.—On September 28, 2023, a Baker County, Oregon man with a lengthy criminal history, who fled from a traffic stop at more than 100 mph and threatened a shootout with police, was sentenced to more than 15 years in federal prison for illegally possessing methamphetamine and firearms.

Zachary Charles Persicke, 38, was sentenced to 188 months in federal prison and five years’ supervised release.

According to court documents, in late September 2021, as part of an investigation of Persicke for dealing drugs and illegally possessing firearms, Baker County law enforcement obtained a state search warrant for Persicke’s person and an associated residence. Law enforcement observed Persicke in a vehicle and attempted a traffic stop. While fleeing from police and reaching speeds of more than 100 mph, Persicke called 911, told the dispatcher he had a weapon, and threatened to engage in a shootout. After driving over a spike strip placed by law enforcement, Persicke pulled over and surrendered without incident. In a search of Persicke’s vehicle, officers located and seized more than 300 grams of methamphetamine, a loaded .45 caliber pistol, and an assault-style rifle

Driver clocked at 97 km/h over limit; Edmonton police dish out 1,300 speeding tickets Canada

There has been no shortage of fast and furious driving in the Edmonton region in the past two days.Fort Saskatchewan RCMP arrested an extreme speeder, Edmonton police used a helicopter to find another who ran from police, and nearly 1,500 people were issued tickets during a daylong traffic blitz.The Mounties said Friday that an officer clocked a Toyota GR86 travelling at 197 km/h in a posted 100 km/h zone on Highway 15 near Old Fort Trail at 6:15 p.m. Thursday. A GR86 is a sports car its manufacturer touts as “track ready.”
The 20-year-old driver, a Fort Saskatchewan resident, was arrested and charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.A day earlier, a 24-hour traffic blitz by the Edmonton Police Service saw almost 1,500 tickets issued by officers and automated systems, 1,253 of them for speeding — and one for a stolen licence plate.

Wyomingite Charged in Cheyenne-Area Chase Involving Stolen Pickup -Wyoming

A 39-year-old Gillette, Wyoming woman is facing charges after reportedly leading a Cheyenne-area trooper on a high-speed chase in a stolen pickup.

According to a booking sheet, it all started around 3:00 Tuesday afternoon, Sept. 26, when a trooper traveling north on Interstate 25 clocked a southbound Ford F-150 traveling 94 mph in a posted 80 mph zone near mile marker 20.

The trooper made a U-turn and caught up to the pickup near mile marker 13, which by that time was traveling 90 mph in a 75 mph zone.

When the trooper attempted to stop the pickup, the driver, later identified as Samantha Jo Longwell, continued driving south, failing to use her turn signal when changing lanes and failing to maintain a single lane of travel.

The trooper says he saw Longwell look in her rearview mirror while his emergency lights were on.

Daring high speed pursuit cripples thief s escape near bay bridge Washington

Police arrested five people and recovered four stolen cars following an overnight crime spree on the eastside.

According to the Bellevue Police Department (BPD), officers responded to the 4700 block of 148th Avenue Northeast — the Hampton Greens apartment complex — at 2:50 a.m. Friday. A resident called police to report several people attempting to steal vehicles in the parking lot, the BPD said.

Officers arrived and found two stolen vehicles that had been abandoned and left running in the parking lot, police said. Officers then found and tried to contact people spotted driving through the parking lot of the complex in two different vehicles, police added. The drivers took off, with one ramming an occupied Kirkland K-9 officer’s vehicle during the attempted escape, according to the BPD. The officer and his K-9 partner were not injured, the BPD said.

Watch: Suspected carjacker arrested after chase involving Sacramento police, CHPCalifornia

A suspected carjacker driving a yellow pickup truck was chased by law enforcement in Sacramento for about an hour and a half on Friday before he was arrested. The Sacramento Police Department first located the vehicle near 5th and J Streets and a pursuit began. LiveCopter 3 followed part of the chase. At one point the vehicle was being pursued on the Interstate 80 Business Loop before it exited onto surface streets. The vehicle was later spotted on Stockton Boulevard near Sacramento State University and then was driving down H Street in East Sacramento. The driver eventually abandoned the vehicle in a parking lot after law enforcement deployed spike strips. The man fled on foot, where he was chased by authorities and eventually arrested at a Del Taco located on Alhambra Boulevard. Sacramento police and officers with the California Highway Patrol were involved in the law enforcement response.

A suspected carjacker driving a yellow pickup truck was chased by law enforcement in Sacramento for about an hour and a half on Friday before he was arrested.

Two arrested on multiple charges following vehicle and foot chase with police Oregon

SPRINGFIELD, Ore. – Two men were arrested early Wednesday morning on multiple charges following an extended chase by vehicle and on foot with police, according to the Springfield Police Department.

SPD officials said what began as a traffic stop in Springfield turned into a high-speed chase onto northbound Interstate 5 where the suspect’s vehicle was eventually stopped near Coburg. The two suspects, identified as Zachary Foster Luke, 33, of Jefferson, and Donald Blake Miller, 26, of Junction City, then ran from police officers before being tracked by SPD K9s and captured by police, authorities said.

Lehi police stop suspect allegedly attempting to meet minor Utah

MONROE COUNTY, Ga. (Atlanta News First) – A woman is facing charges after stealing an ambulance in Henry County, according to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office.

Sheriff’s deputies responded to Georgia 401 just before 1:30 a.m. Tuesday and found Andrea Bryant, 58, driving a stolen ambulance. Bryant allegedly continued driving south, topping out at 88 miles per hour near the Georgia 401/408 split. Deputies eventually used a spike strip to deflate the ambulance’s tires and arrest Bryant.

Bryant has been charged with fleeing/attempting to elude, speeding and failure to maintain lane in Monroe County. She will also likely face separate charges in Henry County for stealing the ambulance.

Man who shot his mom, woman exchange gunfire with deputies in Arkansas, state police say – Arkansas

CROSS COUNTY, Ark. – A shootout between two suspects from Alabama and deputies in Cross County, Arkansas left a woman dead and a man in the hospital, according to the Arkansas State Police (ASP).

ASP said that 54-year-old William Burchett shot his mother in Hokes Bluff Alabama on Tuesday and then went on the run with 47-year-old Tammi Naler.

Deputies picked up their vehicle in Crittenden County, Arkansas around 2 a.m. on Wednesday and chased them through rural areas of Poinsett County before spike strips stopped the suspect’s car in Cross County on Highway 75, ASP said.

State police said that Burchett and Naler began shooting at those deputies and deputies returned fire, killing Naler and injuring Burchett.

The Coshocton County Sheriff’s Office was led on a chase Wednesday morning involving a stolen vehicle.

It took place around 11AM and began when Coshocton County EMS noticed a silver car heading west on County Road 16 driving at high speeds and weaving in and out of traffic.

Deputies arrived and found the vehicle on Chestnut Street and clocked it driving 95mph in a 35mph zone. They initiated a traffic stop. The vehicle continued on traveling onto State Route 83 and State Route 16. The vehicle attempted to run several vehicles off the road.

The pursuit ended in Muskingum County, where on Raiders Road officials were able to deploy stop sticks. The vehicle stopped on State Route 60 north of Dresden.

Report: Suspect arrested after chase with police reaches 100 mph in Conway area South Carolina

HORRY COUNTY, S.C. (WMBF) – Tuesday night, police arrested a man who led officers on a chase that reached 100 miles per hour in the Conway area.

Reports obtained by WMBF News show 43-year-old Michael Richards was wanted by police in connection to an attempt to arrest him on Aug. 30 for failure to stop for police and driving under a suspended license. At the time, officers had to call off the chase because of unsafe weather conditions.

Tuesday night, an officer spotted the same car from the Aug. 30 incident and began a chase down Causey Road and Cox Ferry Road. Richards continued to flee from officers, driving the wrong way down Cox Ferry Road across Highway 501.

Two arrested following police pursuit through South Bend on Wednesday Indiana

Two people have been arrested after a traffic stop turned into a pursuit on Wednesday.

On September 27, around 4:30 p.m., officers with the South Bend Police Department’s Strategic Focus Unit attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a vehicle on the northeast side of South Bend when the vehicle sped off, leading officers on a pursuit.

During the pursuit, officers observed suspected drugs and money being tossed out of the vehicle.

Assisting patrol officers deployed stop sticks, bringing the pursuit to an end near Lincoln Way West and Blaine Avenue.

A Gillette woman is charged with five misdemeanors after leading a deputy and Wyoming Highway Patrol troopers on a chase along Interstate 25 south. A deputy whose radar clocked the woman’s truck at 94 mph and 90 mph in an 80 mph zone tried to stop her at 3:21 p.m. Although his patrol vehicle lights were activated, the woman continued to drive south, through a construction zone. Once out of the zone, the deputy pulled to the truck’s side but the woman sped off at 100 mph in a 65 mph zone, a booking sheet states. At mile marker 3, Wyoming Highway Patrol troopers deployed a spike strip that not only deflated her truck tires but the deputy’s tires as well. The deputy was forced to pull over at mile marker 2. Troopers continued after the woman, stopping her at mile marker 0 and taking her into custody. The owner of the truck, a Wright man, said the truck was stolen and he didn’t know the woman. She’s charged with lane use, speeding, eluding, turn signal use and possession of stolen property.

MINOT, N.D. (KFYR) – Ward County deputies arrested a man who led them on a car chase after they found him slumped over the steering wheel.

They say they knocked on the window, and Jared Patterson looked up and drove off.

After chasing him for nearly an hour, they used a spike strip to flatten his tires.

They say Patterson got out and ran but they caught him.

He faces numerous charges, including driving under the influence.

Officers chase a Dover stolen car through Coshocton, into Muskingum County California

COSHOCTON − The Coshocton County Sheriff’s Office has a suspect in custody from a high speed chase that went through the city and west on Ohio 16 into Muskingum County.

Authorities said at approximately 11 a.m. Wednesday, they were informed by Coshocton County Emergency Medical Services of a silver car that was heading west toward Coshocton on County Road 16 from West Lafayette at high speeds and weaving in and out of traffic.

Deputies responded to the area and observed the vehicle traveling at high speeds heading west in the eastbound lane in the 1800 block of Chestnut Street. The vehicle was radar locked at traveling 95 mph in a 35 mph zone. A traffic stop was initiated, but the car didn’t stop.

Man arrested after high-speed chase, leaving children in car – North Carolina

INDIAN TRAIL, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — A man who led law enforcement on a chase before leaving his children in the car has been arrested, according to the Union County Sheriff’s Office (UCSO).

On the afternoon of Tuesday, September 26, officials say a deputy in the Indian Trail area tried to stop a car with a fake tag driven by 32-year-old Kirby Faulkner of Charlotte. The car then sped off before the deputy could walk up to speak with Faulkner.

Another deputy saw Faulkner driving at a high speed and also tried to stop him, the Sheriff’s Office states. The chase ended on I-485 near Lawyer’s Road after a tire deflation device was used.

RPD: Six people including 12-year-old in custody after robbery leads to stolen Hyundai chase New York

ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Rochester Police say six people including a 12-year-old were taken into custody after a chase with a stolen Hyundai ended on the city’s southwest side.

It all started around 11:40 p.m. on Tuesday when officers responded to a robbery around St. Paul and East Main streets. Two victims told officers that a group of suspects threatened them with a hammer, robbed them of property, and fled in a car.

Soon, RPD spotted the car believed to have been used in the robbery. That led to a chase through the east and west sides of Rochester. The chase ended on Bartlett Street off Jefferson Avenue when the car went over spike strips.

Sioux City man arrested after vehicle theft, police pursuit Iowa

SIOUX CITY – A Sioux City man was arrested Tuesday afternoon after stealing a truck and getting into a pursuit with law enforcement.

Richard Weston Snyder of Sioux City was arrested for theft, felony eluding, reckless driving and speeding, according to a Sioux City Police news release.

The Sioux City Police Department responded to a theft of a Chevy Silverado pick-up from the 2500 block of Solway Street at approximately 10 a.m. Tuesday. The truck was unlocked with the keys inside, according to the release.


A few hours later the truck was found at the 3300 block of Glenn Oaks Boulevard. When police attempted to stop the truck, Snyder, 42, led them on a pursuit into North Sioux City and Leeds.

Man facing several charges after hitting two squad cars during police pursuit – Indiana

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) – A Fort Wayne man is facing several charges after court documents say he led police on a pursuit through Fort Wayne and New Haven where he struck two squad cars early Friday morning.

Police say around 1 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 22, an officer noticed a car without license plate lights and pulled behind the car on St. Joe Road. Documents say the car then did a U-turn, so the officer turned on his emergency lights and followed the car, which continued to drive off.

The man, later identified as 37-year-old Brandon McBride, then turned into a neighborhood on Shoaff Park River Drive. The chase continued on several streets and then eventually onto I-469 when multiple other officers joined the pursuit.

A 22-year-old man trying to steal from a Bellevue car dealership ended up assaulting an officer and leading multiple agencies on a wild chase through the eastside early Saturday morning.

It all started at 4:18 a.m., when the man was allegedly attempting to steal a safe from the AutoNation Chrysler Dodge Jeep RAM dealership on 116th Ave NE. A responding Bellevue police officer confronted the suspect, who then tried to strangle the officer and took off in a stolen vehicle, according to the Bellevue Police Department (BPD).

2 juveniles arrested after allegedly leading police on 140mph chase in Wasatch County Utah –

HEBER CITY, Wasatch County — Two juveniles were arrested after attempting to evade police in a high-speed chase that reached 140 mph, police said.

Just before 9 a.m. on Sept. 7, Heber City police officers attempted a traffic stop on a white Dodge Challenger that had expired registration and was recorded as stolen. A news release from the department said officers tried to pull the car over at 500 N. Main, but the vehicle fled on U.S. 40 toward Jordanelle State Park.

The car exited the highway and eluded police for a time until it was again located by Heber City officers, the release said. The car returned to U.S. 40 heading back toward Heber City and was chased by police, who estimated the car was going about 140 miles per hour.

Reckless driver arrested after police rammed vehicle, “extreme risk to public” – California

 A woman was arrested after the Chico Police Department said they received numerous calls about a reckless driver in the downtown area on Friday morning.

Officials reported that multiple patrol officers arrived in the area and located the suspect vehicle. A brief pursuit occurred, however, officers said they stopped chasing the suspect because of an “extreme risk to the public.”

The alleged reckless driver was later identified by police as Lorayna Gonsalves. She reportedly continued to drive recklessly in the downtown area, struck at least three vehicles, and nearly hit several pedestrians.

Police said that spike strips were deployed in an attempt to disable the vehicle. Spike Strips are a device used by law enforcement to puncture and deflate vehicle tires and significantly disable the vehicle’s ability to drive at high speeds.

Deputies Use Spike Strips to Halt Wild, Drunk Moses Lake RV Driver Washington

Grant County Deputies, Moses Lake PD apprehend a driver

Around 3:20 AM Sunday morning, the Moses Lake Police Department and Grant County Deputies were called to Circle K at Stratford and Valley Road, about a dangerous RV driver.

Witnesses said the man driving the RV hit a parked car, was revving the RV’s motor, and behaving strangely. The RV left the scene on Valley Road.

A GCSO Deputy located the RV on Valley Road, but the driver refused to pull over when the officer lit up his lights and began pursuit. Spike strips were laid on Airway Drive, flattening some of the vehicle’s tires, but the driver continued to try to elude officers.

After swerving into and hitting a Moses Lake Police car, the driver then headed out onto Highway 17, where another set of spike strips finally disabled the RV to the point where it couldn’t move anymore.

4 in custody following police chase with stolen Maserati Minnesota

Four men are in custody after a chase in Eden Prairie that ended in Edina.

The Eden Prairie Police Department (EPPD) said officers spotted a black Maserati with no license plates leaving the scene of an alleged burglary on the 8000 block of Lancaster Court around 10 a.m. Saturday.

Officers pursued the Maserati from Highway 212 to eastbound Highway 62 before officers with the Edina Police Department tried to stop the car with stop sticks near Highway 100, according to police.

The Maserati exited on Xerxes Avenue and four men ran away from the car, officials say.

The suspects were taken into custody around 11 a.m.

Houghton County OKs 2024 budget Michigan –

HOUGHTON — Houghton County adopted a budget with $11.3 million in general funding spending for the 2024 fiscal year at a special meeting Thursday.

The general fund budget carried an $80,383 surplus, bringing the county’s projected fund balance at the end of September 2024 to $4,203,699.

In a budget summary prepared for the board, County Administrator Ben Larson and Chief Financial Officer Becky Ylitalo outlined several new items in the budget. One was the closing of the county work camp, which the board also unanimously approved Thursday on Larson’s recommendation. County spending on the work camp in the coming fiscal year will drop from $408,532 to $100,000 under the approved budget.

A suspect has been charged with murder after a woman was found dead inside a truck at the Costco distribution center in Monrovia, the Frederick County Sheriff’s Office says.

FREDERICK COUNTY, Md. – A suspect has been charged with murder after a woman was found dead inside a truck at the Costco distribution center in Monrovia, the Frederick County Sheriff’s Office says.

Sheriff’s deputies responded to the distribution center at 5236 Intercostal Drive around 1:30 a.m. Sunday to conduct a welfare check. The caller told police that there was a truck driver who seemed to be under the influence and had broken out the window of their own truck.

When deputies arrived, they spoke with the man who was in the driver’s seat of the truck with it running near the entrance of the Costco depot. Deputies said the man was argumentative and did not want to speak to them

Woman arrested, multiple deputies injured after chase starts in Indiana ends in Ohio – Ohio

HAMILTON — An Indiana woman is in custody after a chase ended in a crash in Hamilton.

Investigators said a 37-year-old Mary Murray took off from Union County Sheriff’s deputies in a stolen vehicle.

She entered Ohio and drove south into Hamilton at speeds over 80 miles per hour.

That’s when Butler County Sheriff’s deputies used stop sticks.

Murray struck a Butler County cruiser and two other vehicles.

Multiple deputies were injured as a result of the chase, according to the Butler County Sheriff’s Office.

Kalamazoo suspects arrested in Indiana after high speed chase, speeds hit 100 mph in Branch County -Indiana

FREMONT, IN (WTVB) – Two suspects from Kalamazoo were arrested Friday in Fremont, Indiana after the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office assisted the Branch County Sheriff’s Office with a vehicle pursuit.

The pursuit started on Old U.S. 27 near Central Road and went south just after 11:00 a.m.

Speeds were reported to be as high as 100 miles an hour during the pursuit. The suspect vehicle was said to be connected to a Coldwater Police Department larceny investigation after they got a report of two suspects stealing mail at Avra Estates on Garfield Avenue. Deputies noticed mail on Angola Road near Fenn Road.

The pursuit continued heading south into Steuben County, Indiana where the Branch County deputy got assistance from Indiana authorities. The blue 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee was being pursued for excessive speed and failing to stop for a police officer. The chase eventually headed east on State Road 120 towards Fremont. Steuben County Sheriff’s deputies deployed stop sticks west of Fremont in order to end the pursuit prior to it reaching the town limits.

As Portland reckons with an “explosion” of open-air drug use, Fox News rode along with the police bureau’s bike squad. Here’s what we saw in the City of Roses.

PORTLAND, Ore. – Wheels squeal as officer David Baer wrenches his bike to the right and jumps it onto the sidewalk next to a Subaru. In one swift movement, he slides a portable spike strip behind the front tires and raps on the window.

Then he takes a plastic bag of suspected fentanyl from the man in the driver’s seat.

“Let me get you a hundred dollar ticket. You’ll be out of here in a second,” Baer tells the driver before walking back to his bicycle.
