An Illinois man was arrested Wednesday morning following a pursuit on Interstate 80 near Lexington. Around 11 a.m. a Nebraska State Patrol trooper saw a Nissan Versa traveling in excess of 100 mph on I-80 near Lexington. An NSP news release said the trooper attempted a traffic stop, but the driver refused to yield and fled at a high rate of speed. The trooper initiated a pursuit.

A San Antonio couple is in the Brazos County jail after they were arrested following a chase that began in Bryan and ended west of Hearne in Milam County. According to DPS arrest reports, a trooper wanted to stop a car on Friday for expired registration and a brake light that was not working. The car ran multiple stop signs in Bryan and Hearne before the car was stopped by spike strips that were placed on FM 485 by Milam County sheriff’s deputies.

Lawrence Police are still searching for a man who took off and almost hit an officer with his car on Sunday. Authorities say he led them on a high-speed pursuit down I-70, crashed, and then ran into the woods. The incident reportedly occurred just after 3:00 pm Sunday when officers were called to a car wash in the 1000 block of North 3rd Street. Someone called because a man was sleeping in his running car. Officers say they called for medical help after they noticed he was breathing but not responding. The man eventually woke up, would not cooperate with officers and quickly hit the gas, almost hitting one of the officers.

On August 6th a woman with restraints on her wrists and ankles was found in distress in the 14,000 block of State Route 772. It turns out that a male suspect, and 48-year-old Terri Diaz of Lucasville, picked up the victim in Columbus August 3rd. She stayed with them until the male suspect asked for oral sex and she refused. Diaz helped restrain her at knifepoint as the male found zip ties to restrain her in a camper trailer….but she later found a box cutter and escaped from the moving trailer on State Route 772.

The remainder do keep him in jail Sunday morning, August 14, a man signaled to pull over instead led East Precinct officers on a 2.7 mile pursuit, starting in the Foster-Powell neighborhood, and heading north. The traffic stop was initiated by officers who had spotted a stolen bright red “king cab” pickup truck near S.E. Powell and 74th Avenue at 10 a.m. The driver hit the gas, and at one point officers successfully deployed a “spike strip”, deflating at least two of the truck’s tires. However, the fleeing driver pressed on, until he crashed through the yard of a house in the Sunnyside neighborhood, on S.E. Taylor Street near 45th Avenue. The driver was still inside the smashed truck when officers caught up with him; but — desperate to get away — he threw it into “reverse” and smashed into a patrol car.
