Vehicle Theft and Threats: Creve Coeur man in custody after four hour long pursuit Monday morning in Livingston County – Illinois
PONTIAC – A Creve Coeur man was arrested in Pontiac early Monday morning after allegedly evading police in Livingston County.
Fairbury Police Officers initiated a pursuit after Cameron Acosta sped through the town going over 80 miles per hour around 3:00 a.m., according to a news release.
The pursuit by FPD was terminated and picked up by the Livingston County Sheriffs Department outside of Fairbury.
Authorities say Acosta continued fleeing police, heading towards Pontiac, where Pontiac officers activated spike strips causing the vehicle to disable.
Police say he then exited the vehicle and began running on foot towards Pontiac.

Vehicle Theft and Threats: Tukwila Police detectives use spike strips, foot pursuit to catch vehicle thief – Iowa
Just before 1 p.m. on Tuesday, June 6, 2023, a Tukwila Police detective spotted an occupied stolen vehicle in the 5800 block of S. 152nd Place (map below).
Using spike strips and an eventual foot pursuit, officers were able to apprehend and arrest the suspect.
Here’s more from Tukwila PD:
- Officers quickly responded and setup spike strips near the exit.
- Upon noticing the officers, the female suspect within the vehicle immediately fled.
- Officers successfully spiked the vehicle tires at which time the suspect continued to flee in the vehicle.
- Officers were able to locate the vehicle in the 4700 block of Southcenter Parkway, at which time the suspect fled on foot.
- After a brief foot pursuit, she was taken into custody.
- While running, the suspect tossed a bag containing a substance consistent with meth from her person and onto the ground.

Vehicle Theft and Threats: Men arrested after threatening to shoot Wendy’s employees in Windsor Locks: police – Connecticut
Two men were arrested in Windsor Locks after threatening to shoot employees at Wendy’s over an issue with their order, police said.
The police department said they received a 911 call alerting them that a man had just fled Wendy’s on Route 75 after a dispute Monday night. Authorities said the man threatened to shoot employees.
According to police, three men were ordering food in the drive-through and were dissatisfied with their order. They then went inside and made threats, including to stick a gun into the mouth of one of the employees, officers said.
Employees said they saw a gun inside the vehicle at the drive-through window. Police said the men fled in a BMW, and officers spotted and pursued the car. Stop sticks were deployed and the car ran over them, but was able to briefly continue onto Interstate 91.

Vehicle Theft and Threats: Man Apprehended After Fleeing & Hiding From Authorities For Four Hours – Indiana
A Creve Coeur man is facing six charges in Livingston County. Cameron Acosta was charged with possessing less than five grams of meth, a class three felony; Aggravated Fleeing and Eluding Police, a class four felony; driving suspended and speeding 35 miles or more over posted limit, both class A misdemeanor and two other petty offenses.
The Fairbury Police Department said Acosta failed to stop for a traffic stop around 3 a.m. on June 4th. After fleeing from Fairbury officers and deputies with the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office, the Pontiac Police Department was able to use spike strips on Acosta’s vehicle near the Pontiac area.

Vehicle Theft and Threats: Suspect leads police on high-speed chase between Phoenix and Central Point | KMVU Fox 26 Medford – Oregon
JACKSON COUNTY, Ore. – A suspect was arrested following a high-speed chase on Interstate 5. At about 8:30 p.m. Friday, a Phoenix police officer tried to pull over a vehicle for a traffic violation on the northbound interstate onramp at Exit 24. According to the Phoenix Police Department, the vehicle didn’t stop and proceeded on I-5 at speeds above 100 miles per hour. At milepost 31, a spike strip was deployed. It punctured the rear tire of the suspect’s vehicle before the vehicle got off I-5 at Exit 33. The vehicle’s driver reportedly tried to get back on I-5, this time southbound, by driving over a sidewalk and crashing through a utility pole. Before the vehicle was able to get back on the interstate, a sergeant from the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office used a PIT maneuver to disable the vehicle.

Vehicle Theft and Threats: Man arrested, faces multiple charges after Sunday morning chase – North Dakota
CASS COUNTY, N.D. (Valley News Live) – A Walcott, ND man is facing multiple charges after leading police on an early morning pursuit on Sunday, June 4.
The Cass County Sheriff’s office said they tried to stop a car in rural Horace shortly before 2:00 a.m. after the speeding vehicle crossed into the deputy’s lane. The vehicle then fled north into Fargo. During that time the deputy terminated the chase but continued to follow the vehicle. The vehicle eventually traveled into West Fargo, at which time the West Fargo Police Department pursued the vehicle for a short time, until the vehicle drove back into Fargo, and the pursuit was terminated.
The driver left Fargo and headed back toward Horace where a deputy was able to successfully deploy stop sticks on County Road 14 and stop the vehicle.

Vehicle Theft and Threats: Michigan Man arrested after a vehicle pursuit in Howard County | WBIW – Colorado

HOWARD CO. – Sunday morning, a vehicle pursuit led to the arrest of Mark A. Ashley, 25, of Grand Rapids, MI.
He was incarcerated in Howard County to face preliminary charges for resisting law enforcement with a motor vehicle a Level 6 felony and criminal recklessness a Class A misdemeanor.
On Sunday, June 4, 2023, at approximately 9:05 a.m., Indiana State Police Master/Trooper Mathew Rogers initiated a traffic stop on a 2006 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck on US 31 near Toby Pike for traveling 97 mph.
The driver of the Chevrolet, later identified as Ashley, allegedly did not stop and led the trooper on a vehicle pursuit.

Vehicle Theft and Threats: 1 in custody after multi-county chase ends on I-70 in Preble County– Ohio

One person is in custody after a multi-county chase ended in Preble County early Tuesday morning.
The chase began just after 1 a.m. when Clark County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) deputies attempted to initiate a traffic stop on a black 2013 Kia Sportage.
The driver, later identified as 36-year-old Randy Trammell, of New Carlisle, failed to stop and then made an illegal U-Turn on State Route 4, near the Masonic Home area, according to Clark County Sheriff’s Office Major Michael Young. From there, he drove northbound.
Deputies from the CCSO chased Trammell’s Kia to the Montgomery County line, according to Sergeant Tyler Ross with the Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSHP). From there, Huber Heights officers began to chase the SUV.

If you haven’t seen the video of Officer Patrick McCarty of the Carroll (Iowa) Police Department being thrown from the hood of a speeding vehicle resulting in him breaking his back, you can find it below. Unfortunately, incidents where officers are injured by a suspect’s vehicle, occur far too often around the country. In 2021 the FBI LEOKA statistics show that six officers were killed by vehicular assault.
The defense attorney for McCarty’s assailant pleaded for leniency for his client at trial rightly claiming that the officer, “wasn’t trained” to do what he did. The attorney of course is correct. Yet all of us at some time have found ourselves standing in front of a running motor vehicle with a driver seated behind the wheel. Despite our training. I believe human beings are hardwired to stand facing a threat, which contributes to this unfortunate situation.

Vehicle Theft and Threats: Three Arrested After Extended Pursuit in Melbourne’s Southeast 6 June – Australia
Police arrested three people this morning. This followed a long pursuit through Melbourne’s southeast.
First, officers responded to reports around 3:30 a.m. Offenders broke into a Mercedes sedan at Mount Waverly. The victim came outside to investigate. Consequently, the offenders became disturbed.
The offenders had weapons, officers believed. They drove an allegedly stolen silver Commodore.
