LOS ANGELES (KABC) — A carjacking suspect was taken into custody at the end of a wild chase through Los Angeles County on Memorial Day.
According to the sheriff’s department, deputies with the Lakewood station initially tried to pull a driver over in the Paramount area Monday afternoon.
That’s when the driver pulled over but then sped off.
There were apparently two people in the stolen vehicle. At one point, the suspects stopped and jumped out in the Huntington Park area.

Two Reidsville residents were arrested Sunday after a high-speed car chase that started in Davie before the suspects were apprehended in Yadkinville.
It started about 2:03 p.m., when a Davie sheriff’s deputy attempted to stop a Chevrolet Cruze that had been reported as stolen on US 601 North near Danner Road, Mocksville.
“The vehicle failed to stop for blue lights and siren while continuing to accelerate in speed,” reported Chief Deputy Brian Jacobs. “Speeds reached 100 mph in the 55 mph zone.”
Yadkin sheriff’s deputies joined the chase when it reached the county line, and in Yadkinville, police there, along with the N.C. Highway Patrol, used stop sticks to deflate the tires on the suspect vehicle.
The driver was identified as Kara Suzanne Barrow, 30, and the passenger was Randy Aaron Mabe Jr., 26, both of the same Reidsville address.

–LOGANSPORT, Ind. — A 32-year-old man from rural Logansport faces over half a dozen charges after leading police on a 16-minute chase that took out mailboxes, a water meter and damaged two Logansport police cruisers.
Jeffrey Wolfe was arrested after eventually crashing his pickup truck into a ravine and is being held in Cass County Jail. He faces felony charges of resisting law enforcement with a vehicle along with criminal mischief and unauthorized control of a vehicle. Wolfe also faces half a dozen misdemeanor charges including operating while intoxicated.

CEDAR CITY — Police arrested a Kansas man on Saturday evening following a multi-agency pursuit that began with a high-speed vehicle chase on Interstate 15 and ended with the suspect being captured on foot in a residential neighborhood in Enoch. Carl Edward Poston, 30, was booked into Iron County Jail shortly before midnight on suspicion of more than one dozen charges, including possession of a stolen vehicle, possession of a dangerous weapon by a restricted person, reckless driving, failure to stop at command of police, driving on a suspended or revoked license and possession of drugs and paraphernalia.

Man Arrested in Commercial Van After Police Chase Through San Diego – Oklahoma
A man was arrested and jailed Saturday after he fled police in a commercial van on freeways and city streets for 90 minutes, authorities said.
The pursuit began at 9:15 a.m. Saturday when the driver ran a red light at the intersection of Fairmont Avenue and Wightman Street in City Heights, according to an interview by OnScene TV with Lt. Jake Resch of the San Diego Police Department.
The suspect eventually stopped near the Del Mar Fairgrounds after three of the van’s tires were flattened when police threw a spike strip, the lieutenant said.

ALBEMARLE COUNTY, Va. (WHSV) – According to Albemarle County Police Department (ACPD), on Wednesday, May 24, 2023, at approximately 7:20 pm, officers with ACPD received information on the whereabouts of a wanted individual.
Upon locating the suspect’s car, ACPD officers attempted a traffic stop. The driver refused to stop and fled the officers onto Monacan Trail.

JEFFERSONVILLE — Three recent crimes, one involving a stolen vehicle and the other two involving shootings, were reported by the Jeffersonville Police Department in news releases issued Wednesday afternoon.
The three crimes were unrelated, police said.
Stolen car stopped, 3 arrested
On May 11, at approximately 2:17 a.m., a Jeffersonville police officer was alerted that a stolen vehicle was travelling within city limits, the news release said.
A traffic stop was initiated, and the vehicle fled to evade police.
Officers then maintained a controlled pursuit and a successful stop stick deployment was made in the 900 block of East 8th Street.

Two people charged after police chase through Jefferson City, Cole County – Mossuri
Two people were taken into custody after a police chase that went through Jefferson City and part of Cole County.
On Thursday, a Jefferson City police officer tried to pull a vehicle over at Highway 50/63 and Monroe Street, according to a press release from the police department.
The officer identified the driver, Dalton Fisher, 26, as a person with several outstanding warrants, including one for assaulting a law enforcement officer.
The officer said Fisher would not stop.

CHATTANOOGA, Tennessee (WDEF) – Chattanooga Police arrest a suspect after a pursuit from a carjacking at a construction site on Highway 58.
Police received a call from a construction worker at 1:36 this morning that one of their trucks had been taken by force.
The victim was sitting in his truck when police say the suspect Dustin Prichett opened the door and pulled him out.
Prichett fled in the victim’s truck in which Chattanooga Police, Collegedale Police, and Hamilton County Sheriff’s Department engaged in a pursuit.

Air Wing then spotted four vehicles, a Subaru, a Land Rover, a Mercedes Benz and an Audi travelling in convoy on the Eastern Freeway towards Dandenong.
They followed the Subaru to Cairns Road in Hampton Park where police on the ground found the vehicle dumped.

MILWAUKEE – The Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office released body camera footage Thursday after a man allegedly tried stealing a rental car from Mitchell International Airport last month.
Shawn Gibeau, 23, is charged with operating a vehicle without the owner’s consent, criminal damage to property and two counts of resisting and injuring officers. The sheriff’s office said two deputies went home with injuries; one injured his head, the other injured his leg.
Gibeau didn’t get far. Spike strips punctured thee of the car’s tires as he drove the wrong way trying to get out of the car rental lot. Deputies entered the structure on foot.

A New Berlin man who led police on a high-speed chase now faces three felony charges. – Wisconsin
WAUKESHA – A high-speed chase that stretched from Pewaukee to New Berlin, and also through the heart of Waukesha’s downtown, has ended with three felony charges against a 21-year-old New Berlin man.
Cade Joshua Smale was charged Tuesday in Waukesha County Circuit Court with two counts of attempting to flee or elude an officer and one count of second-degree recklessly endangering safety, all stemming from a Monday night incident.
According to Waukesha’s police log and information in the criminal complaint, Waukesha Police Lt. Kevin Rice was patrolling near Dunbar and West avenues at about 11:57 p.m. Monday when he spotted two pickup trucks and a motorcycle stop in front of his unmarked squad car

Man Charged For Tossing Drugs, Sideswiping Sheriff’s Deputy During Chase | News | Ottumwa Post – Iowa
OTTUMWA – An Ottumwa man is facing multiple felony charges after throwing drugs out of his car while eluding law enforcement early Friday.
According to court documents, on Friday, May 19 at approximately 1:21AM, a Wapello County Sheriff’s deputy attempted a traffic stop on a 2008 Toyota Camry on North Davis Street in Ottumwa for a non-working tail light.
An incident report states that the driver, identified as 30-year-old Juan Carlos Bethancourt, failed to pull for the deputy and a pursuit ensued with speeds in town reaching 40mph over the limit while running several stop signs. The deputy also observed Bethancourt throw several objects from the window that were later identified as marijuana products consisting of a half-gram THC cartridge, THC wax, and a marijuana plant.

A SUSPECT has been arrested after a car chase by Garden Grove police (Shutterstock).
A man suspected of being under the influence of drugs was arrested after he smashed a car into two police vehicles Tuesday night. According to Sgt. Nick Jensen of the Garden Grove Police Department, the suspect – described only as a male Asian in his 30s – has been charged with assault with a deadly weapon on a police officer.
The incident began in the 8800 block of Garden Grove Boulevard at 7:43 p.m. when officers were called to an apartment complex. The suspect fled in a vehicle and he managed to evade pursuing units, hitting two police cars.

A Licking Police Officer successfully deployed spike strips, deflating two of the tires on a stolen vehicle involved in a pursuit that passed through Licking on Friday afternoon.
At approximately 3:50 p.m. the officer was notified that a vehicle reported stolen from Dent County was being pursued by Dent County deputies toward the City of Licking. After the vehicle encountered the spike strips, it continued westbound on Highway 32, beyond the city limits of Licking, before leaving the roadway and traveling through multiple fences then striking a tree. The suspect fled on foot into a nearby wooded area, between Hartville Road to the east and Van Cleve Drive to the west.

He was one of two men who ran from police after a chase in Mooroopna that saw the tyres blown out on an allegedly stolen ute on Sunday, May 22.
Police officers attempted to intercept the Isuzu ute on Riverview Dve in Kialla shortly before 12.30pm, however the driver fled.
Stop sticks were successfully deployed on McLennan St in Mooroopna, puncturing one tyre.
Police said the vehicle was dumped on Park St and two occupants allegedly ran from the scene.

Flee attempts sends Atchison man to prison – Kansas
(KAIR)–An 18-year-old Atchison man is going to prison, sentenced this week in Atchison County District Court for fleeing from law enforcement earlier this year.
According to a release from Atchison County Attorney Sherri Becker, Colton Cornett was sentenced to 1-year-4-months of incarceration Monday, following his no contest plea, entered in April, to the charge of fleeing or eluding a law enforcement officer.
According to the release, the charge stems from Cornett’s failure to stop, on March 1, when law enforcement attempted to pull his vehicle over in the area of U.S. Highway 59 and 254th Road. Cornett, the release says, led law enforcement on a chase, with Cornett speeding, passing in a no passing zone, and running a stop sign.

Pursuit suspect in custody after trying to break into home in Anaheim – California
A man was taken into custody Tuesday night after leading officers with the Garden Grove Police department in a pursuit that eventually ended after the suspect exited his vehicle and attempted to force his way into Anaheim home while residents were inside.
The incident unfolded at around 7:45 p.m. when police responded to an apartment complex in the 8800 block of Garden Grove Boulevard on reports of a person “who was possibly under the influence of narcotics,” according a GGPD news release.
When officers approached the man, he fled in a vehicle and slow-speed pursuit ensued. When officers deployed a PIT maneuver, the suspect recovered, but struck two patrol vehicles, police said. A spike strip later disabled the man’s vehicle.

Crime Briefs: Pot pit stop ends in arrest – Oregon
A man was arrested in the midst of making a pot pit stop after stealing a car Monday, May 22.
A victim called Gresham Police to report he was tracking his stolen Toyota 4-Runner with an Apple Air Tag, and that it had stopped at 21951 S.E. Stark St. Officers arrived and found the stolen vehicle, as well as the suspect who was walking into a marijuana shop. The man was taken into custody without incident.
A search of the stolen vehicle uncovered about three pounds of methamphetamine; two handguns, one of which had been stolen; cash and drug distribution supplies.

Suspected car thief apprehended after abandoning stolen Jaguar – Florida
A suspected car thief was apprehended after abandoning a stolen luxury vehicle.
Deputies spotted 21-year-old Davion Jacquez Branford of Tavares driving a white Jaguar SUV eastbound on Sunnyside Road at around 10:25 p.m. Monday, according to an arrest report from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.
The vehicle was reported stolen out of Sumter County on Thursday, the report said. The officer behind the SUV was familiar with the vehicle due to it fleeing Lake County deputies on Friday morning, as well as receiving a stolen vehicle alert that morning in Leesburg.

When officers arrived they found a man, later identified as 38-year-old Luke A. Russell, asleep in the driver’s seat.
SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. — Officers have arrested a man found in a reported stolen truck out of Wisconsin in a Spokane Valley neighborhood.
Deputies with the Spokane Valley Police Department were called to the 18800 block of E. Broadway early Tuesday morning to check on a suspicious truck that had been parked there for two hours. When officers arrived, they found a man, later identified as 38-year-old Luke A. Russell, asleep in the driver’s seat.
When deputies checked the license plate, they found the truck was reported stolen in Crawford County, Wisconsin. Following a short investigation and review of the original report, officers arrested Russell for possession of a stolen motor vehicle and he was taken to jail.

An Edgerton man who police say choked his wife, and then led police on a high-speed chase where he rammed a squad car, appears in Rock County Court.
44-year-old Timothy Heaslip is charged with strangulation and suffocation, disorderly conduct, operating a firearm while intoxicated, resisting or obstructing an officer, first-degree recklessly endangering safety, hit and run, two counts of fleeing an officer, and second degree recklessly endangering safety.
Rock County Sheriff’s Officials say the chase began about 1:50 Saturday morning in the 11000 block of Mason Drive in the town of Fulton, traveled down Newville Road, and then north on the Interstate.

Three Arrested After Extended Pursuit in Melbourne’s Southeast – Australia

Police have arrested three females following an extended follow through Melbourne’s southeastern suburbs this morning.
Officers responded to reports a Blue Holden Statesman was driving erratically on Narre Warren Cranbourne Road, Narre Warren just after 2am.
Police spotted the allegedly stolen vehicle and attempted to incept it, but the car didn’t stop and took off at a fast rate of speed.
Ground units continued to patrol for the Holden before the police Air Wing picked it up a short time later.
With the assistance from the Air Wing, police followed the vehicle through a number of suburbs.

TOWN OF MAINE, WI (WSAU) — A two-county chase began in the Town of Maine and ended with an arrest in Lincoln County last week.
It started when the Marathon County Sheriff’s Office officers attempted to stop a vehicle in the Town of Maine. The driver refused to stop, leading to a chase that reached speeds up to 100 MPH.
Lincoln County Sheriff’s Officers joined the pursuit as it crossed the county line, deploying spike strips that deflated the vehicle’s tires. The chase continued at slower speeds before a PIT maneuver was used to bring the vehicle to a stop.

Deputies arrest couple after high-speed chase – Georgia
FORSYTH COUNTY, Ga. — Forsyth County deputies arrested a Covington man after a high-speed chase on southbound Ga. 400 May 1.
Deputies reported spotting a suspect sought in another crime, David Hamilton, 43, of Covington, in a GMC Yukon at an outlet mall off Ga. 400 in Dawsonville. They also observed a passenger in the vehicle, Alshawnta Strothers, 36, of Pennsylvania.
Hamilton reportedly attempted to flee on southbound Ga. 400, reaching speeds of more than 120 miles per hour. Deputies laid spike strips near the Ga. 20 exit at Cumming, the report states, and after Hamilton hit the strips, he continued driving over 100 miles per hour while his tires deflated.
