What started as a traffic stop ended with a two-county chase through the Chippewa Valley yesterday morning.
The State Patrol yesterday tried to stop 61-year-old Paul Smith for speeding and rolling through a stop sign. But troopers say Smith refused to stop, and sped-off. The chase went from Hastings Way near Highway 93, down I-94, and eventually ended in Chippewa County when Lake Hallie Police used spike strips to stop his car. Smith was arrested on a laundry list of charges, including for his 5th OWI.

Omaha Police deployed stop sticks to disable a stolen vehicle fleeing from law enforcement early Sunday morning.OPD was able to end the pursuit around 2:30 a.m. near 55th & Northwest Radial Highway. During the high-speed chase, the OPD helicopter Able-1 was used to track the car into Iowa and back into the metro. At the scene, officers said the car reached up to 90 miles per hour. All three people occupying the car were taken into custody, including a child. They face charges for obstruction, unlawful occupancy and unlawful taking.

From 90 MPH to Custody: Police: Late night chase involving stolen pickup starts in Fort Hall, enters Blackfoot and eventually ends in Pocatello – Idaho
A lengthy chase involving a stolen pickup truck ended with a Fort Hall man being arrested late Thursday night in Pocatello.
The incident began to unfold around 10:50 p.m. when Fort Hall police engaged in a pursuit with a stolen pickup truck driven by Skyler Callahan, 19, of Fort Hall, authorities said.
The pursuit continued on multiple Fort Hall Reservation roads but eventually left the reservation and entered Blackfoot, authorities said. Police used spike strips to deflate the pickup’s tires but Callahan reportedly would not pull over

SAFFORD – A Safford robbery suspect is in custody Friday night after leading officers on a high-speed chase down Highway 70 and into Thatcher.
According to a Safford news release, officers were dispatched at about 8:13 p.m. to the Dollar General at 1640 W. Thatcher Blvd. regarding an armed robbery.
Prior to officers’ arrival, the suspect – identified at this time only as a 19-year-old Safford resident – had already fled the area in a gold Chevy pickup truck.
Witnesses gave updates to officers for the truck’s location, and the police caught up to the truck as it went eastbound on U.S. Highway 70.
The truck led officers on a “lengthy pursuit” throughout Safford, Thatcher, and unincorporated Graham County until officers disabled the truck through the use of “stop sticks” to puncture the vehicle’s tires.

SUMTER COUNTY, S.C. (WIS) – Deputies say a duo was arrested after leading Sumter County sheriffs on a chase through the area.
The Sumter County Sheriff’s Office reports William Lemoin Armstrong II, 39, and Teal Hope Leviner, 32, were arrested after the driver failed to dim the headlights on the vehicle they were in before oncoming traffic and refused to stop for a Sumter County deputy.
Detectives say in the early morning of Saturday, May 6, a deputy observed a vehicle fail to dim its headlights while passing near Guignard Drive and Miller Road. The deputy tried to make a traffic stop but the suspect ignored the blue lights and siren of the deputy’s vehicle says law enforcement

Police arrested two people after they led law enforcement on a chase overnight. The pursuit ended in Sharonville.
Springfield Township police say the incident started with a traffic stop at the UDF on Winton Road. However, the car drove away south, nearly hitting an officer. Officials add that, at some point during the pursuit, a male passenger tossed drugs out the window.
Authorities say the car eventually got onto the Norwood Lateral, hitting Stop Sticks. Despite this, the vehicle then made it to I-75. WLWT’s cameras were near where the chase ended, near Sharon Road, where the car hit police Stop Sticks a second time.
Officials say police jailed the driver, a woman, for OVI and fleeing. Meanwhile, police arrested the male passenger for tampering with evidence and drug possession. Police confirmed no one was hurt during the chase.

$20 MILLION is developing now in Osceola County. Meanwhile, Saint Cloud schools are no longer under lockdown. This occurred after police chased down a man accused of stealing a car. Additionally, the county schools sent a message to parents stating that several shots were fired. Therefore, the lockdown served as a precaution. The chase came to a stop when the car hit Stop Sticks. Police say the suspect barricaded himself in the rear of the vehicle.

A semi-truck driver who brandished a weapon at a vehicle repair worker in Medina County is in custody in a hospital following a pursuit and standoff that shut down I-271 for several hours Thursday, according to Beacon Journal news partner News 5 Cleveland.
The Ohio Highway Patrol told News 5 that the driver pulled a weapon on the worker in the northbound lanes of I-271 around 3 p.m. in Granger Township in Medina County.
Troopers responded and found the truck, but before they could speak with the truck driver, he disconnected his trailer and drove off, the patrol told News 5.

POINT PLEASANT, W.Va. (WSAZ) – A man is behind bars. Furthermore, he faces a list of charges, including attempted murder. This followed a long pursuit between the Ripley area and Point Pleasant.
Sheriff Corey Miller in Mason County was at the scene when the pursuit happened. Subsequently, authorities identified the driver as Joseph Smith Jr.
“He was definitely DUI from drugs,” Miller confirmed.

A 55-year-old man is facing multiple charges after leading authorities on a chase through Monroe County and attacking a state corrections worker, sheriff’s officials announced Thursday.
The Michigan Department of Corrections and Michigan State Police were seeking the Monroe resident Wednesday for absconding from parole, the Sheriff’s Office said in a statement. He had previously been convicted of armed robbery.
The man allegedly assaulted a corrections department employee then rammed a vehicle, according to the release.

LUMBERTON, N.C. (WPDE) — A multi-agency police chase ended when stop sticks were deployed on a suspect vehicle in Lumberton Thursday.
Lumberton police say the chase began around 11:15 a.m. when officers attempted to pull over a green 2002 Chevy Silverado. They say the driver was 39-year-old Karon Rorie, of Lumberton, who was the subject of a search warrant being executed by LPD.
After about 35 minutes, North Carolina Highway Patrol troopers were able to disable the pickup by deploying stop sticks on NC-211.

From 90 MPH to Custody: Chesterfield police pursuit goes all the way to Petersburg’s Poplar Lawn; suspect still on run – Virginia
A red-light run in Chesterfield County quickly turned into a police pursuit. Subsequently, the chase went down into and through Petersburg’s Poplar Lawn Park area late Tuesday night. The driver is still on the lam, although authorities know his identity.
Chesterfield Police spokesperson Elizabeth Caroon said the driver was wanted on unrelated charges. She added that officials have identified him, but they have not yet released his name.
The saga began on Willis Road, about 15 miles north of where it ended, Caroon said. According to reports, an officer saw the driver run a stop sign at one of the Interstate 95 exit ramps onto Willis Road.

From 90 MPH to Custody: Dashcam video shows tire come off stolen vehicle during Kent County police pursuit – Michigan
GRAND RAPIDS, MI — Dashhcam and bodycam videos show Kent County sheriff’s deputies successfully use stop sticks to damage a fleeing car’s tires, eventually causing a tire to come off and disabled the car.
Police suspected the occupants of the car, which turned out to be stolen, were breaking into vehicles in Gaines Township.

LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) – The Nebraska State Patrol aided Lincoln Police in recovering a stolen SUV. They also took two suspects connected to the crime into custody Tuesday morning.
According to LPD, someone reported a Chevy Equinox stolen from the area of 10th and C around 9 a.m. Tuesday. NSP monitored the vehicle’s path and tracked it to 40th and Y. There, they used Stop Sticks to pop the tires on the SUV.
Police took two people from Lincoln into custody just after 10 a.m., but officials haven’t released the charges they face. No one suffered injuries.

A suspect is now in custody after leading police on a chase on Monday.
The pursuit started in the Nashville, Tennessee area and made its way to North Alabama before ending with a crash in Morgan County.
We’re still working to learn more about the suspect law enforcement was pursuing.
Video was provided to WAAY 31 showing state troopers and Morgan County Sheriff’s deputies chasing the suspect down Interstate 65 where the pursuit ended at exit 322 in Falkville.
The suspect then got out of a wrecked vehicle and ran from law enforcement before being arrested.

Police believe the suspect led police on a chase back in April.
SAGINAW COUNTY, Mich. (WJRT) – Another police chase in Mid-Michigan ended with one arrest.
A Michigan State Police patrol car dash camera captured the dramatic chase, which spanned two counties. Furthermore, a second chase early Monday resulted in one arrest.
The Saginaw Township Police Department was involved in the Monday morning chase of a pickup truck. Police believe the person arrested could be the same suspect from the April chase.
Police say they haven’t seen an increase in chases recently. Nevertheless, these incidents underscore how dangerous they can be. They also highlight the tough call agencies face: deciding when to continue or end the pursuit.

May 8—EAU CLAIRE — A Minneapolis man led local deputies on a high-speed chase with a stolen vehicle, authorities say.
At one point, authorities said, the man drove on four rims and struck and damaged a Dunn County Sheriff’s squad car.
The court recently charged 28-year-old Pierre D. Bowdry in Eau Claire County Court. He faces felony counts of eluding an officer and operating a vehicle without the owner’s consent. He also faces a misdemeanor count of second-offense operating under the influence.

From 90 MPH to Custody: Delaware man leads troopers in pursuit of a stolen semi | WBIW – Indiana

LAGRANGE CO. –A man led troopers in pursuit of a stolen semi across three counties. Ultimately, he surrendered and police safely took him into custody.
On Saturday, May 6, Indiana State Police dispatch received a call. Specifically, the report stated a semi-tractor, allegedly stolen by a terminated employee, was suspected to be traveling eastbound on the Indiana Toll Road.
Subsequently, at approximately 12:42 p.m., Trooper Matthew Henson located the semi. The vehicle, a blue 2019 Freightliner, was exiting the Indiana Toll Road at the Notre Dame Exit, mile marker 77.
