Police arrest two juveniles with loaded gun after vehicle chase California

VALLEJO, Calif. – After a high-speed vehicle chase Saturday, Vallejo police arrested two juveniles, one of whom was armed with a loaded firearm with a high-capacity magazine.

Officers spotted a grey Volkswagen Tiguan traveling near Springs Road and Oakwood Avenue driving with headlights off when it was dark outside. Officers also allegedly observed the vehicle failing to stop at a red light.

Police pulled the vehicle over, but the driver pulled away when officers exited their patrol vehicle.

Man accused of high-speed chase with child in vehicle, stopped with spike strips Alaska

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) – A driver is accused of taking off when Military Police attempted to stop him for speeding, leading to a high-speed chase on the Glenn Highway until the vehicle was eventually stopped. A child was found in the vehicle when it was stopped.

According to the Alaska State Trooper Dispatch, it began at about 2:30 p.m. Saturday when Military Police from Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson tried to stop a speeding vehicle. The driver, William A. Hopson, of Anchorage, did not stop. JBER police pursued the car northbound on the Glenn Highway. JBER police requested assistance from Troopers.

AST deployed spike strips at mile 32 of the Glenn Highway which deflated the front two tires of the car, according to AST dispatch. Hopson is accused of continuing into Wasilla at what Troopers describe as a high rate of speed and “continued to endanger the public.”

Multiple police departments, including the St. Croix County Sheriff’s Office, started to chase the suspect.

GLENWOOD CITY, Wis. — A situation that began as a traffic-related altercation in western Wisconsin ended with a police chase and a crashed vehicle on Friday night in Minnesota.

Glenwood City police initially reported a traffic altercation between two drivers, which included a 44-year-old man spraying a chemical irritant at another driver, according to the St. Croix County Sheriff’s Office.

Officials say the victim who was sprayed by the chemical then pursued the man onto Interstate 94.

28-year-old Kenton County man sentenced to life in prison for 2021 murder of girlfriend – Kentucky

COVINGTON, Ky. — A 28-year-old Kenton County man was convicted to life in prison Friday for the 2021 murder of his girlfriend, Kenton County Commonwealth’s Attorney Rob Sanders said.

Dillon Brewster was convicted on multiple charges, including murder, kidnapping and firearm possession.

The conviction comes after Brewster’s arrest on Oct. 20, 2021 when he led Ohio State Highway Patrol on a high-speed pursuit for more than 7 miles. The police chase ended when troopers used “stop sticks” on Brewster’s vehicle near Troy, Ohio. It was discovered his girlfriend’s 3-year-old child was in the car along with her belongings.

Hazelwood man sentenced to 18 years in prison for carjacking, other crimes – Missouri

ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOV) – A man will serve time in prison for carjacking and committing other crimes in the St. Louis area.

Police say Joshua Thomas, 31, admitted to being one out of two other suspects who stole a 2020 Jeep Cherokee from a woman outside a home in the 4100 block of Camellia Avenue on Oct. 19, 2019. The suspect demanded to search the house before stealing her car.

Two days later, police attempted to arrest Thomas at a market at the intersection of South Spring and Delor, but the suspect sped off in a Kia. Police then used a spike strip to deflate the tires, and Thomas eventually crashed near the intersection of Walsh Avenue and South Grand Boulevard. Thomas fled the scene on foot, leaving behind guns with ammunition and drugs.

Deputies: Woman arrested after chase in stolen truck – New Mexico

A Santa Fe woman with numerous pending charges related to drugs, thefts, vehicles and giving false names to police was arrested Thursday evening after authorities said she led them on a chase in a stolen truck.

Santa Fe County sheriff’s deputies received a report of a stolen Ford F-150 being driven by a woman who might be on drugs. Shortly afterward, they found the truck in the parking lot of the La Cienega Community Center, according to a statement of probable cause. A deputy observed a woman, later identified as Victoria Nevarez, 32, slumped over at the wheel.

When Nevarez noticed the patrol vehicle, she started to drive away, according to the statement by Deputy Marcus Ward. Ward turned on his lights and siren, but she fled, turning south onto Entrada La Cienega “at a high rate of speed,” Ward wrote.

Central Precinct Captures Suspect Driving Recklessly on Springwater Trail (Photo) – Oregon

A suspect is facing several charges after eluding police and speeding in a stolen car on the Springwater Trail.

On Friday, April 14, 2023 at 11:18a.m., a Central Precinct officer on patrol located a vehicle in the 7800 block of Southeast Oaks Park Way in which 2 people appeared to be passed out. The officer asked for additional officers and they set up spike strips behind the vehicle’s tires in case the driver tried to drive off. When the driver was woken up, he eluded the officer, driving over the spike strip and damaging a fence. As additional officers responded to assist, the driver proceeded onto the Springwater Trail. The vehicle was observed going in excess of 50 miles per hour on the trail and officers got at least one report that a pedestrian on the trail was nearly struck by the vehicle.

Apr. 13—CHIPPEWA FALLS — A Chippewa Falls man who led Lake Hallie police on a high-speed chase in February 2022 before crashing the vehicle in Chippewa Falls failed to show up for his court appearance Tuesday, and a warrant has now been issued for his arrest.

Daniel L. Nielsen, 39, 822 Veronica St., is charged in Chippewa County Court with fleeing or eluding a police officer, second-degree recklessly endangering safety and possession of methamphetamine.

When Nielsen failed to show up for court appearances Tuesday, Judge Steve Gibbs ordered a warrant for Nielsen’s arrest. Mail to his home was returned as undelivered.

Two teens are facing charges after the pair allegedly led police on a chase with a stolen and rammed cruiser in their attempt to get away.

Mansfield police received a call for a stolen car at Easton’s Avalon Apartment Complex on Robert Drive shortly after midnight Wednesday. A Mansfield officer responded to the call and immediately found the alleged stolen car pulled to the side of the roadway on Eastman Street. Officer Martell attempted to conduct a felony traffic stop but the vehicle began to speed away. Officer Martell eventually found the vehicle again, this time on Mill Street, and again tried to stop it.

KENT COUNTY, Mich. (FOX 2) – Five teens are in custody after fleeing sheriff’s deputies in west Michigan in a stolen Kia.

Kent County Sheriff’s deputies first tried to stop the car at 60th Street SE and Kalamazoo Avenue on the border of Kentwood and Gaines Township around 9 p.m. Monday. The driver fled, and the chase was called off because of traffic.

Around 1:15 a.m. Tuesday, another deputy spotted the vehicle in the area of 60th Street SE and Kalamazoo Avenue. The driver again fled, but this time the chase continued, with deputies pursuing the suspects west on 60th.

On April 5, a deputy attempted to stop a 1999 Dodge truck for an equipment violation. The operator of the vehicle failed to yield to the deputy and a pursuit ensued. The Missouri State Highway Patrol deployed stop sticks on Highway O, disabling the vehicle, and two suspects were arrested. The operator, a 23-year-old Rolla man was taken into custody and transported to the Dent County Jail where he was placed on a 24-hour hold pending the issuance of a warrant. The passenger, a 27-year-old Rolla man, was arrested on an active Phelps County warrant and turned over to Phelps County deputies.

It all started on Monday night, just after 9 p.m., when deputies spotted a stolen Kia in the area of 60th Street SE and Kalamazoo Avenue.

“They activated their lights. Unfortunately, the vehicle didn’t pull over,” said Undersheriff Chuck DeWitt.

When police arrived, they say they observed the woman exit her car but then got right back in and drove off.

Officers tried pulling her over, but she did not adhere to their efforts. Eventually police say they had to use stop sticks on the car, which caused the woman to crash into an officers’ car. The crash happened just north of downtown Fort Wayne on North Clinton Street. Police say the woman refused to exit the vehicle until police used what is being called “tactical measures” to take her into custody.

Troopers arrest Maryland man after Dawson County pursuit Nebraska

NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KOLN) – Nebraska State Troopers, with assistance from the Dawson County Sheriff’s Office, have arrested one person after a pursuit on Interstate 80 in Dawson County on Monday.

A trooper observed an eastbound Chrysler Pacifica speeding at over 100 miles per hour on Interstate 80 near Lexington at around 7:10 a.m. The trooper attempted a traffic stop, but the driver fled. The trooper initiated a pursuit.

The Chrysler exited I-80 at the Lexington interchange, turned around, and began fleeing westbound on I-80. The van maintained speeds in excess of 100 miles per hour during the pursuit. Near the Gothenburg interchange, a Dawson County Sheriff’s Deputy successfully deployed a spike strip to slow the vehicle. The van then came to a stop in the driving lane of I-80 at mile marker 214. The driver was taken into custody without incident.

The California Highway Patrol released new details after a chase for a kidnapping suspect ended with gunfire in Elk Grove.

ELK GROVE, Calif. — The kidnapping suspect who led police on a chase through Elk Grove only for it to end in gunfire was identified Monday.

The California Highway Patrol identified the suspect as Christopher Scott Johnson, 40.

Police said they originally responded to a report of a woman being held against her will in a moving black Chevrolet van around 10:40 a.m. Sunday. After CHP saw a vehicle that matched that description along Elverta Road at Watt Avenue, they tried to do an enforcement stop.

PORT ANGELES — A high-speed chase that began in Port Angeles destroyed one police car and a bus stop before it ended near the 7 Cedars Casino in Blyn, according to a news release from the Clallam County Sheriff’s Office.

Stacy Dyar-Brown, 39, of Port Angeles was being held Monday in Clallam County Jail in lieu of $10,000 bail for investigation of DUI-drugs, second-degree assault, reckless endangerment, eluding a police vehicle and hit-and-run attended property damage.

Just after 7 p.m. Sunday, a Clallam County Sheriff’s deputy spotted a wrong-way driver heading westbound on First Street near Lincoln Street. The vehicle turned north onto Lincoln Street, where the deputy began his pursuit with lights and sirens.

The driver failed to stop and the deputy suspected she might be driving under the influence. Then she began driving recklessly and evasively, reaching speeds estimated at 60 mph through the city limits, endangering both pedestrians and other drivers, the release stated.

BATES COUNTY, Mo. – A traffic stop on Interstate 49 results in a multi-department pursuit.

Bates County Sheriff’s Office indicates at 2:00 p.m. Monday, a deputy made a traffic stop on a vehicle for expired tags and illegal window tint. The vehicle initially pulled over but upon the deputy approaching, the suspect allegedly fled northbound.

The pursuit came to an end just north of Harrisonville when the suspect lost control after the deployment of spike strips by Cass County deputies. The driver was taken into custody without further incident. A search of the vehicle allegedly found prescription medication and a handgun.

A fleeing driver dragged a deputy down a road after ramming into his girlfriend’s vehicle, authorities in Oregon said.

The 47-year-old man began hitting her parked vehicle at about 3:15 p.m. Saturday, April 8, in Redmond, the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office said.

The woman called authorities to report the man who she said was causing “extensive damage” to her vehicle, deputies said. She said he was intoxicated.

ROWAN COUNTY, N.C. (WBTV) – Deputies with the Rowan Sheriff’s Office took part in a pursuit that stretched through four counties at speeds of more than 130 miles an hour on Sunday.

Investigators say police in Lexington began the pursuit of a silver, 2015 Infiniti QX 80 that had been reported stolen from High Point. Rowan Co. deputies joined in the pursuit on southbound I-85 when the Infiniti entered Rowan.

The pursuit continued through Cabarrus and into Mecklenburg County. During the pursuit, stop sticks were deployed three times, initially blowing out the tire on the left front, then blowing out the remaining tires.

PUEBLO COUNTY, Colo. (KKTV) – A suspect is likely facing a long list of charges following a chase along I-25 between Colorado Springs and Pueblo Sunday night.

According to the Colorado State Patrol, troopers were made aware of a “rolling” domestic situation on northbound I-25 near mile marker 127, the area is south of Colorado Springs in the Fountain area. At about 10:15 p.m., Colorado State Patrol spotted the suspect vehicle travelling southbound I-25 near mile marker 131 close to the Mesa Ridge Parkway exit. Authorities tried to pull the driver over, but the suspect reportedly continued southbound on I-25.

LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) – A man is in custody after officers ended a carjacking with stop sticks and assistance from the Nebraska State Patrol AirWing on Monday.

Lincoln Police arrested 28-year-old Gilberto Antoni Portillo Barrientos from Lincoln. He is being held in the Lancaster County Jail for robbery.

Police said Barrientos used a machete to carjack a construction van from two people stopped in the drive thru of a D’Leon’s on West O Street just after 1 p.m. His whereabouts were unknown for about an hour until a caller notified dispatch of a sighting near the intersection of 27th and O Streets.
