High-Speed Crime Stops: Volusia sheriff stops fleeing driver in stolen car during radio interview – Florida
VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. — A Florida sheriff was caught in the middle of a highway chase Tuesday while doing a radio interview about tackling hate groups in the county.
Volusia County Sheriff Mike Chitwood joined Drew Garabo and John Senning on 102.5 The Bone to talk about his response to antisemitism and hate speech in the county, but not before a fleeing driver in a stolen car on I-95 took the sheriff away for a moment, the sheriff’s office reports. The radio show was met with the sound of muffled movement and sirens from first responders.
“Sheriff, are you there?” Garabo said on the radio show.

A Missouri woman was arrested after a high-speed chase through two area counties Sunday night.
According to a report from the Pike County Sheriff’s Office, at 7:20 pm Sunday, a Calhoun County Sheriff’s Deputy attempted to conduct a traffic stop in Mozier on a white 2008 Pontiac G6. The driver of the Pontiac then fled northbound on State Highway 96 reportedly reaching speeds exceeding 100 MPH.
The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office notified the Pike County Sheriff’s Department and Pleasant Hill Police Department of the fleeing vehicle coming into their jurisdiction. Officers from the Pike County Sheriff’s Department and Pleasant Hill Police deployed stop sticks in an attempt to stop the fleeing motorist.

High-Speed Crime Stops: Police: Child sex abuse suspect on the run near Gainesville – Texas
GAINESVILLE, Texas (KXII) – Gainesville Police are searching for a man who they say escaped from them on Tuesday afternoon.
The chase began in Gainesville at the Quik Trip.
Sulphur Police had been working on a case involving Joshua Moreno, who they say is a child sexual abuser, who will be charged with lewd acts to a child.
“We had an active search warrant for Joshua’s phone,” Sulphur Police Chief Michael Plunkett said. “It had to do with that particular case that we were pinging and we were actively tracking that today. As we tracked him from Fort Worth to the state line, we learned that the highway patrol in Texas and Gainesville got in a pursuit with him.”

High-Speed Crime Stops: MUST SEE VIDEO: Two-county chase ends on U.S. 65 in Ozark, Mo. – Missouri
Christian County Sheriff Brad Cole says the Taney County Sheriff’s Office notified him about a chase on northbound U.S. 65 Tuesday morning. Subsequently, the Christian County Sheriff’s Office picked up the pursuit at the county line when deputies found and followed the driver of the stolen GMC pickup. Sheriff Cole says his officers monitored the driver without their lights. Meanwhile, other deputies prepped U.S. 65 with spike strips.
The spike strips worked. Therefore, after less than a mile, the sheriff’s office performed a tactical vehicle intervention (TVI). Initially, they pinned the car against a guardrail, but the female driver gunned it and took off. At that point, the lieutenant came across and performed another TVI, hitting the car.

Yesterday, deputies responded to a report of a Chrysler Pacifica traveling at a high rate of speed eastbound on Highway 60 in the area of Lake Crystal. Additional checks determined the Pacifica was reported stolen earlier in the morning from the city of Heron Lake in Jackson County.
Deputies located the stolen vehicle near the junction of Highways 60 and 169 traveling at 98mph. The male driver appeared to be the only occupant and refused to stop. The pursuit went north on Highway 169 through Mankato with multiple law enforcement agencies assisting.

High-Speed Crime Stops: High Speed Early Morning Pursuit Ends With Two Damaged Squad Cars, Near Misses for Deputies and a Ton of Charges for the Suspect – Illinois

Feb. 22—MANKATO — A Rosemount man faces felony charges after reportedly leading police on a pursuit Tuesday morning through Blue Earth County in a stolen van.
hortly before 3:00 am on Saturday, Ogle County Deputies attempted to conduct a traffic stop in the 11000 block of N. Kennedy Hill Rd. Byron, IL on a GMC Envoy that was driving at speeds in excess of 100 mph.
The GMC refused to stop for deputies, and continued to flee southbound on N. IL RTE 2. Deputies deployed stop sticks, which were successful at deflating several of the tires on the tan GMC. This did not stop the vehicle as Deputies continued to pursue the GMC into Byron.
It turned south onto South Fox Run Lane and came to a stop on Deer Wood Ct where the driver refused to comply with deputies commands, almost struck several deputies, and struck a Byron Police Squad Car as it drove away.

MILWAUKEE — A driver in a stolen car took police on a 12-mile chase through Wauwatosa and crashed into three other drivers on Friday, Feb. 24.
A day prior to the chase and crashes, the defendant, 22-year-old Tobias Jamel Hill, was convicted of felon in possession of a firearm and given probation on Feb. 23 despite the state recommending prison time.
Hill is now facing second-degree recklessly endangering safety, vehicle operator flee/elude officer causing damage to property, and hit and run, all as a habitual criminality repeater.

High-Speed Crime Stops: Massachusetts State Police stop and charge Route 195 wrong-way driver – Massachusetts

Recently, Massachusetts State Police stopped and arrested a wrong-way highway driver on the South Coast.
According to the State Police Association of Massachusetts, two Troopers responded to calls of a wrong-way operator who was traveling from Fall River on Route 195 on Saturday. In fact, just minutes later, a Trooper came dangerously close to being struck as the driver barreled the cruiser head-on. Subsequently, troopers deployed Stop Sticks at the Fairhaven underpass on Route 240, and the driver, who was traveling against traffic, struck them.

A man who deputies say tried to hook up an undercover officer with a teenage girl for sex led police on a chase and was found with thousands in counterfeit merchandise, police said.Thomas Durrell Adams, 38, is charged with possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime, third-degree criminal sexual conduct with a minor, solicitation of a minor for sex, failure to stop for blue lights, and distribution of counterfeit goods/merchandise, according to the Laurens City Police Department. Police said in a Facebook post that Adams, on Monday, arranged for undercover deputies to meet up with what he thought was a 14-year-old minor child for the purpose of a sexual encounter.

High-Speed Crime Stops: Teen suspect tracked by K9 unit after high speed chase – South Carolina

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) – Consequently, deputies arrested a 16-year-old after he led them on a high-speed chase. Investigators said the pursuit lasted roughly 36 miles and topped out at 115 mph.
The Sumter County Sheriff’s Office said at around 8:13 a.m. Sunday that dispatchers received notice of a Hyundai Santa Fe in the Brabham Road area. Specifically, a caller reported seeing the vehicle moving slowly and a passenger looking inside parked vehicles.
The report provided a license plate that traced back to a vehicle from Kingstree. Therefore, investigators said an SCSO deputy moved into position in case the vehicle returned to that area.
