Man arrested after leading police on chase, attempts entering LaPorte County Complex – Ohio

Officers with the LaPorte County Sheriff’s Office arrested a man early Friday morning after he allegedly led them on a wild chase.
Police say an officer noticed a vehicle, driven by 31-year-old Christopher Rodriquez, was traveling 63 miles per hour in a 45 miles per hour zone on US-20 west of Fail Road.
Officials state they tried to initiate a traffic stop, but Rodriquez kept driving.
The officer found a stolen Dodge Durango Hellcat that is suspected of being involved in the break-ins, thefts and pursuits, driving in the 5400 block of State Road.

Police say the vehicle was pursued through Newton-le-Willows this morning, Friday, February 24 after it had failed to stop for a patrol.
Officers used a Stop Stick to bring the vehicle to a halt.
Five suspects were detained and police inquiries are ongoing.

Suspect in deadly Denver shooting charged with murder, kidnapping arrested near Strasburg after pursuit – Colorado
–DENVER — A suspect in a Denver murder and kidnapping investigation was arrested near Strasburg after a pursuit, according to the Denver Police Department.
The shooting began as a domestic dispute, police said. It happened around 8:15 p.m. Friday in the 4700 block of Durham Court.
The victim, a woman, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Denver police. Her identity will be released by the Denver Office of the Medical Examiner at a later time.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — A man wanted for the murder of a woman who was shot in her apartment last September was arrested Wednesday after leading law enforcement on an extensive chase.
Ricky Thomas Johnson, 38, has been charged with criminal homicide and evading arrest, according to Metro police.
Johnson is accused of killing 28-year-old Trashai Siske on Sept. 1, 2022 at her apartment on Sealy Drive. Metro police detectives have been working to find and arrest Johnson since Siske’s death, identifying him as the primary suspect.

LAGRANGE — A Wolcottville man lead police on a high-speed chase through a large portion of LaGrange County on Friday, February 18, that only ended when the driver pulled into the employee’s parking lot of the LaGrange County Sheriff’s Office.
In a new release issued this week, the LaGrange County Sherriff’s Office said its officers responded to a call suspicious man apparently sleeping behind the wheel of a parked car in Mongo. After deputies were unable to wake the man while standing outside the car, they tried entering his vehicle but the occupant became argumentative and uncooperative and refused to exit the car. The driver then took off and led police on a chase through Mongo, Howe, and LaGrange.

INDIANAPOLIS — A woman was arrested overnight Friday after a shots fired investigation turned into a IMPD pursuit.
IMPD was alerted of a shots fired call in the 4500 block of E. 18th Street on the east side. Police said as they were investigating, a female took off in a vehicle.
She did not stop when officers tried to pull her over, so police deployed stop sticks.
The vehicle came to a stop at 3600 N. Post Road. The female ran from the car, but police caught up and arrested her.

Tampa, Florida – U.S. District Judge Kathryn Kimball Mizelle has sentenced Raequin Smith (27, Tampa) to six years and three months in federal prison for possession with the intent to distribute cocaine and possession of a firearm in furtherance of drug trafficking. Smith had pleaded guilty on December 1, 2022.
According to court documents, on April 5, 2022, Smith was stopped by law enforcement for driving at a high rate of speed. When asked to exit the vehicle, Smith fled in the vehicle. Police helicopters were dispatched and located Smith driving at a high rate of speed and disregarding traffic signals through busy roadways in Tampa.

STARKVILLE — An armed man who led law enforcement on a multi-county chase is in custody and awaiting a mental evaluation, according to police.
Starkville officers responded to a domestic-related report at 8:59 a.m., a police department press release said. Upon arrival, the armed man fled in a vehicle, and officers pursued him until he left Oktibbeha County.
At about 10:03 a.m., the suspect returned to the county on Highway 25 with Louisville police and Winston County sheriff’s deputies in pursuit. The vehicle exited onto Highway 182, where law enforcement employed spike strips to stop the suspect, who was not injured.

YORK COUNTY, S.C. (WBTV) – A man was arrested after he led York County on a 15-mile chase through multiple towns and fired shots at them late Wednesday night.
According to the York County Sheriff’s Office, 45-year-old Samuel DeCarlos Watson led deputies through Clover, York, and Rock Hill before they deployed stop sticks to disable his vehicle.
After hitting the stop sticks, deputies said Watson fired a gun out the window of his vehicle while continuing to drive away, evading deputies while steering into oncoming traffic.

Teens arrested in Parkland for DUI, going 90 mph in stolen car – Washington
PIERCE COUNTY, Wash. — Deputies arrested three teenagers in Parkland Sunday night who they said recklessly drove a stolen car while under the influence, then tried to run away once patrol units stopped the vehicle.
The teens were spotted on 112th Street East near 22nd Avenue just before midnight on Sunday. The Pierce County Sheriff’s Department (PCSD) said deputies took notice because the car was speeding and, at times, was traveling on the wrong side of the road. Deputies attempted to pull the vehicle over, but the driver refused to yield and took off.

According to court documents, on February 21st, 2023, around 10:30pm, Northumberland County Communications issued a be on the lookout for a Black Toyota Prius that was reported stolen while parked at the Perkins Restaurant in Mahoning Township near Danville.
Just after 11:00pm, Mount Carmel Police Officer Schauer observed a vehicle matching the description traveling eastbound on Route 54 at the intersection with Brennan’s Farm Road near Locust Gap.

–Authorities in Wyoming have identified a missing romance author who allegedly fled to Hawaii after being accused with escaping police officers.
Faleena Hopkins, a well-known author of romance novels and for attempting to trademark the word “cocky” for her books about the “Cocker Brothers,” disappeared on January 30, shortly after her imprisonment.
Three days prior to Hopkins’ disappearance, she was apprehended after allegedly dodging officers approaching her vehicle, which was parked in a remote area of Grand Teton National Park.

Wilson was the driver of the stolen Dodge Durango Hellcat and is being charged with ORC 2921.331 Failure to Comply – Flee or Elude (F-3) and with ORC 2913.51 Receiving Stolen Property (F-4).
Allen and Lymon are both being charged with ORC 2921.31 Obstructing Official Business (F-5) as they were passengers who later fled on foot from officers.
Hernandez was the driver of the black Ford Crown Victoria that arrived in Independence and picked up two of the males (Wilson and Lymon) that previously fled from officers. He is being charged with ORC 2921.32 Obstructing Justice (F-5).

A Missouri woman was arrested after a high-speed chase through two area counties Sunday night.
According to a report from the Pike County Sheriff’s Office, at 7:20 pm Sunday, a Calhoun County Sheriff’s Deputy attempted to conduct a traffic stop in Mozier on a white 2008 Pontiac G6. The driver of the Pontiac then fled northbound on State Highway 96 reportedly reaching speeds exceeding 100 MPH.
The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office notified the Pike County Sheriff’s Department and Pleasant Hill Police Department of the fleeing vehicle coming into their jurisdiction. Officers from the Pike County Sheriff’s Department and Pleasant Hill Police deployed stop sticks in an attempt to stop the fleeing motorist.

Police pursuit results in meth arrest – Illinois
One person was arrested on drug charges following a police pursuit Sunday evening near Waterloo.
At about 8 p.m., a Monroe County Sheriff’s Department sergeant was patrolling near Burksville when he observed a silver sedan pass him on Kaskaskia Road near Burkshire Lane traveling at 90 miles per hour in a 55 miles per hour zone.
The sergeant attempted to stop the vehicle for speeding, but the car refused to stop.
The vehicle continued on LL Road, turning onto Sportsman Road, KK Road across Route 3 to J Road, and eventually making it to Route 156 heading west toward Waterloo.

ST. PAUL — The Minnesota Department of Public Safety Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA) is investigating a use-of-force incident involving the Minnesota State Patrol and the Pine County Sheriff’s Office. It happened around 4 p.m. on northbound Interstate 35 between mile markers 187 and 188, a few miles south of Sandstone. Minnesota State Patrol troopers were pursuing a vehicle for speeding when it went off the road and into a ditch. Prior to the vehicle leaving the road, troopers had deployed stop sticks but it’s unclear if they were effective. Pine County sheriff’s deputies arrived on scene. The subject, who was the driver and alone in the vehicle, did not exit the vehicle and was not responding to commands. At one point, a deputy fired less-than-lethal rounds, which broke vehicle windows, then deployed a K-9. The subject still did not respond. When deputies approached, they saw the subject deceased inside the vehicle with what appeared to be a gunshot wound to the head. A handgun was recovered from inside.

High Speed Pursuit, Stolen Vehicle Stopped in Mankato – Tennessee

Yesterday, deputies responded to a report of a Chrysler Pacifica traveling at a high rate of speed eastbound on Highway 60 in the area of Lake Crystal. Additional checks determined the Pacifica was reported stolen earlier in the morning from the city of Heron Lake in Jackson County.
Deputies located the stolen vehicle near the junction of Highways 60 and 169 traveling at 98mph. The male driver appeared to be the only occupant and refused to stop. The pursuit went north on Highway 169 through Mankato with multiple law enforcement agencies assisting.

Feb. 22—MANKATO — A Rosemount man faces felony charges after reportedly leading police on a pursuit Tuesday morning through Blue Earth County in a stolen van.
Devon Christopher Martinez, 25, was charged with two felonies for receiving stolen property and fleeing police and three misdemeanors for driving after revocation, reckless driving and speeding Wednesday in Blue Earth County District Court.

Laurel man arrested following 27-mile pursuit in 2 counties – Kentucky
Feb. 15—A 27-mile pursuit from eastern Laurel County into Clay County last Thursday now has a Laurel man looking at felony charges, including wanton endangerment of police officers.
Gary Dean Smith, 55, of East Laurel Road in London, gave law enforcement officials a literal run for their lives after he tried to avoid a traffic checkpoint along Blackwater Road, six miles east of London.
Rather than stop for the traffic check, the Laurel County Sheriff’s Office reported that Smith pulled into a driveway nearby. When Sheriff’s Deputy Brent France and London Police Officer Joey Robinson approached the vehicle, Smith fled by driving his Chevy Tahoe through the residence’s yard and around the back of the house re-entering KY 80, and entered Clay County. Smith was reportedly brandishing a machete out the window at officers during the chase.

CABELL COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) – A man accused of stealing a vehicle and leading law enforcement on a chase is in police custody, according to the Cabell County Sheriff’s Office.
Sheriff Chuck Zerkle said the suspect is identified as William Cody Lusher of Huntington.
The sheriff’s office reports the chase began after the theft of a vehicle along 1st Street and 8th Avenue in Huntington.
Huntington police officers were originally in pursuit of the driver.
Cabell County Sheriff’s deputies took over once the chase reached outside of city limits. Deputies used stop sticks to help stop the vehicle.

Police are releasing new information on how the suspect in a deadly shooting overnight was caught.
Officers found a 33-year-old man was found shot in the 1900 block of Shaftesbury Road around midnight.
The suspect in the shooting, 33-year-old Terrill Nelson, drove off from the scene but was later found thanks to the city’s automated license plate reader technology. After trying to pull the vehicle over, Nelson drove off recklessly and a police chase followed.

An allegedly stolen black Ford Ranger was spotted on Pascoe Vale Road in Oak Park about 9.50am.
With assistance from the Air Wing, police followed the vehicle through a number of suburbs before it was allegedly seen driving on the wrong side of Sydney Road in Fawkner.
The car continued along the Western Ring Road towards Melbourne.

One man has been arrested after he failed to stop during a traffic stop. Deputies with the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office DWI Task Force observed a red SUV driving with no lights. When deputies attempted to stop the SUV, the driver failed to stop for the blue lights and sirens. After a pursuit within the city limits, the vehicle was stopped by using stop sticks. CASS COUNTY, Mich. (WNDU) – A suspect who led police on a chase from Elkhart into Michigan on Monday night was taken into custody after he was located in the woods by a Cass County K-9.
Officers with the Elkhart Police Department were called just after 9 p.m. to the 1800 block of Filbert Way on a shooting report. Police say a female victim told officers that a man had fired several rounds at the sliding glass door to her apartment while she and another male were inside the apartment. Neither of them reported injuries.

Police in Lancaster County arrested three people and are looking for a fourth after a chase late Sunday night. Northwest Regional police said an officer was using an automated license plate reader on Route 283, near Snyder Road, when the officer got an alert for a stolen vehicle. Police tried to pull the driver over, but the vehicle took off. Officers chased it through Mount Joy and Rapho townships. Police used spike strips to stop the vehicle in the 6400 block of Elizabethtown Road. Four people inside the vehicle ran away, police said. Police later arrested three people: 18-year-old Dante Ashford, 18-year-old Eric Hammond, and a 17-year-old boy.

Following a Thames Valley Police investigation, a man has been sentenced for dangerous driving on the A40 near Wheatley.
Numaan Khan, aged 26, of Church Cowley Road, Oxford was sentenced to a year in prison and banned from driving for two and a half years.
Khan pleaded guilty to one count each of dangerous driving, driving whilst disqualified, and driving without insurance.
He was sentenced at Oxford Crown Court on Tuesday 14 February.

CONCORD, NH — A man from Massachusetts was arrested on several charges after an incident in Marlborough led to a chase on Route 101 on Saturday.
Around 1:15 a.m., New Hampshire state troopers were sent to a domestic incident for a report of an intoxicated man who damaged property before leaving. When they arrived, they found more than $1,500 worth of damage and issued a BOLO (be-on-the-lookout) call.

BELOIT, Wis. (WTVO) — Antwone Lockhart, 18, and Davon Collins, 19, were arrested Friday after leading police on a high-speed chase through Beloit, into Illinois, and back again before being stopped by a tire deflation device.
According to Beloit Police, officers spotted Lockhart, who was wanted for burglary, in possession of a gun around 2:45 p.m. Police say he was with Collins at the time, who was wanted for felony hit and run and various other charges.

ELIZABETHTOWN — Hassan Naheem Swindell, 24, is in custody after leading police on a 15-mile chase through Bladen County.
On Feb. 11, Elizabethtown police officers received an alert from the Flock Safety ALPR cameras reporting that a stolen Honda Accord had used Martin Luther King Drive to enter town limits.
The officers located the vehicle shortly after receiving the alert and were able to verify that it was stolen. Officers report that they then attempted to conduct a traffic stop before Swindell fled with the stolen vehicle.
Officers followed Swindell for 15 miles before he ran over stop sticks that had been deployed by the highway patrol near Bladenboro.

A man and woman who allegedly held up a business with a handgun were stopped using a stop stick to deflate the suspect’s tires.
According to police, the man and woman entered a business in the 2800 block of King Avenue West late Friday night and committed an armed robbery with a handgun.
Officers located and pursued the suspect vehicle and set up a stopstick tire deflator to stop them and it worked effectively. The male suspect was arrested for robbery, according to Sgt. Mansur.
