Parma police arrest suspects of dealership break-ins – Ohio

PARMA, Ohio (WOIO) – Parma officers arrested four men believed to be involved in a “large number” of dealership break-ins.
According to a release from the department, around 8:39 p.m. Saturday an officer was on traffic patrol, targeting aggressive and drunk driving, as well as complaints of speeding or other violations throughout the city.
The officer found a stolen Dodge Durango Hellcat that is suspected of being involved in the break-ins, thefts and pursuits, driving in the 5400 block of State Road.

A Massachusetts man was arrested after leading New Hampshire State Police on a pursuit early Saturday morning. New Hampshire State Police said Mark Descoteaux, 33, of Pepperell, Massachusetts, was arrested and charged on a number of charges. Around 1:15 a.m. on Saturday, state police were dispatched to a domestic disturbance at a home in Marlborough, where it was reported a person was intoxicated and damaged property before leaving the home and before troopers arrived, state police said. Troopers determined that the person had damaged property more than $1,500 and a be on the lookout was issued. Around 2:30 a.m., a trooper was on Route 101 in Peterborough and found the vehicle from the Marlborough incident.

Driver in custody following Sunday night pursuit near Waterloo – Illinois

–One person was arrested following a police pursuit Sunday evening near Waterloo.
Shortly after 8 p.m., a Monroe County Sheriff’s Department deputy attempted to stop a silver sedan seen driving at a high rate of speed on Kaskaskia Road south of Waterloo. The vehicle refused to pull over for the deputy, continuing on KK Road, then Sportsman Road and J Road – disregarding several stop signs along the way.
Police observed an object – possibly a baggie – thrown from the vehicle at some point during the pursuit, during which there was reported to be no traffic or light traffic with speeds ranging from 45-50 miles per hour.

Police have arrested two men following a pursuit through Melbourne’s northern suburbs this morning.
An allegedly stolen black Ford Ranger was spotted on Pascoe Vale Road in Oak Park about 9.50am.
With assistance from the Air Wing, police followed the vehicle through a number of suburbs before it was allegedly seen driving on the wrong side of Sydney Road in Fawkner.
The car continued along the Western Ring Road towards Melbourne.
Stop sticks were deployed and the car continued, before eventually coming to a stop on Geelong Road.

5400 block 212th Street Southwest: An apartment manager called police to report she was cleaning out the apartment of an evicted tenant and discovered some suspicious paperwork. It included some possible stolen bank checks, blank business checks and several W-9 tax forms with photocopies of random individuals’ driver’s licenses. The paperwork was entered into evidence as found property.
4100 block 212th Street Southwest: A woman said that the rear driver-side window was broken out of her car sometime in the last two days.

ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOV) – Two suspects are jailed in Franklin County after a police chase last night.
The chase ended on Interstate-55, near the River City exit, in St. Louis County.
Police used spike strips to disable all four tires on the truck, but it kept going at a speed of less than 20 miles per hour.
It traveled from Interstate-44 to I-270 and then onto Interstate-55.
Police said the truck was reported stolen in St. Louis City.

Kearney, NE – A 13-year-old girl and an 11-year-old boy armed with a gun led police on a wild high-speed pursuit down Interstate 80 in January.
The incident began at approximately 9:35 p.m. on Jan. 16, when a Nebraska State Patrol (NSP) trooper noticed a Nissan Pathfinder traveling eastbound on Interstate 80 at just 35 miles per hour, the NSP said in a press release the following day.
When the trooper attempted to pull the vehicle over at mile marker 276 near Kearney, the driver stomped on the accelerator and took off down the interstate “at a high rate of speed,” triggering a pursuit, according to the NSP.

A New Britain man was arrested on several charges after police allegedly found two handguns and quantities of fentanyl, heroin, cocaine and crack cocaine in his car on Thursday night in Hartford, according to police.
Hartford Police Department officers saw an Infiniti QX80 that had previously fled multiple motor vehicle stop attempts on Thursday around 10:20 p.m. Police attempted to pull the vehicle over, but it again refused to stop. The officers deployed stop sticks as the Infiniti got onto Interstate 84 West and followed the car until it stopped near Exit 44, police said.
Two people exited the Infiniti and attempted to flee on foot. Police were able to get the driver in custody, but the other occupant evaded arrest, police said.

Woman, 28, arrested after multitown, low-speed pursuit – Massachusetts
WINDHAM — A Bow woman was arrested after leading police on a “low-speed chase” through multiple cities and towns — starting in Windham before ending in a crash in Candia on Friday night, according to state police.
The chase began when Windham police attempted to stop a blue BMW, according to a press release from New Hampshire State Police.
After then driving through Londonderry, Manchester, Hooksett and finally Candia, state police arrested Jillian Morrone, 28, of Bow.
She is facing charges of reckless conduct, disobeying an officer and resisting arrest. Morrone will also be seeing charges from local agencies, according to the press release. Windham police could not be reached for comment on Saturday.

WABAUNSEE CO., Kan. (WIBW) – A Topeka woman has been arrested after leading officials in Geary and Wabaunsee counties on a chase through hazardous road conditions that included blowing snow and ice.
The Geary County Sheriff’s Office tells 13 NEWS that just before 11:20 a.m., officials were working an accident on I-70 at mile marker 310 when a white SUV passed them and almost hit a patrol vehicle as a deputy was seated inside. The deputy then pulled out behind the vehicle and attempted to stop it for failure to move over for an emergency vehicle.

Police in Wyoming discover a missing romance author who allegedly fled after being arrested – Wyoming
Authorities in Wyoming have identified a missing romance author who allegedly fled to Hawaii after being accused with escaping police officers.
Faleena Hopkins, a well-known author of romance novels and for attempting to trademark the word “cocky” for her books about the “Cocker Brothers,” disappeared on January 30, shortly after her imprisonment.
Three days prior to Hopkins’ disappearance, she was apprehended after allegedly dodging officers approaching her vehicle, which was parked in a remote area of Grand Teton National Park.

Suspect pleads guilty to felony fleeing & assault on officer in Harrison County, West Virginia – West Virginia
CLARKSBURG, W.Va. (WV News) — A 38-year-old Parkersburg man has pleaded guilty to felony fleeing with reckless indifference and misdemeanor assault on a law enforcement officer.
Last May, Daniel Wayne Mackey was fleeing recklessly from law enforcement in a Subaru Legacy when he turned the vehicle toward Clarksburg Pfc. Kane Bender, who was on foot trying to deploy spike strips, according to State Police Cpl. J.L. Brewer.

Man pleads guilty, sentenced to prison for his role in pursuit, shots fired at officers – Ohio
SCIOTO COUNTY, Ohio (WCHS) — Scioto County’s prosecutor said a man pleaded guilty Thursday to charges stemming from a two-state pursuit in which shots were fired at officers.
John Clifton Thomas Knotts of Pedro, Ohio, pleaded guilty to three counts of attempted murder and one count of having a weapon while under disability, according to a news release Friday from Scioto County Prosecutor Shane Tieman.
Amanda Cochran of Ironton, Ohio, previously was sentenced in the case on three counts of attempted murder and one count of failure to comply, the prosecutor said.

Smoke machine used to scare off burglars at Victorian bottle shop – Australia [Victoria]
The four men allegedly smashed their way into the shop on Newcombe Street in Portarlington with a crowbar just before 1am,and stole a large amount of alcohol and cigarettes.
The owner became aware of the theft and set off a fog machine inside the store, prompting the men to run, according to police.

ELIZABETHTOWN, N.C. (WECT) – The Elizabethtown Police Department has released information concerning the arrest of a Fayetteville man following a 15-mile pursuit.
According to the report, on Feb. 11 EPD officers received an alert from their Flock Safety ALPR camera that a stolen Honda Accord had entered the town on Martin Luther King Drive. After locating the vehicle, officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop when the stolen vehicle began to drive away.
After a 15-mile chase that neared Bladenboro, the stolen Accord drove over stop sticks that had been deployed by the North Carolina State Highway Patrol. The driver then left the vehicle and ran on foot with a handgun in his hand.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Three people are in custody following a police chase through Middle Tennessee Wednesday afternoon.
The situation began on Saturday in Nashville where authorities say a 2009 Nissan Rogue was stolen at gunpoint.
The Mt. Juliet Police Department was alerted to the incident Wednesday after the vehicle drove past a license plate recognition (LPR) camera on Lebanon Road near Springmont Boulevard. From there, Mt. Juliet police and the Wilson County Sheriff’s Office (WCSO) gave chase.
A WSCO deputy used a spike strip to stop the vehicle, and officers surrounded the stolen car with guns drawn around 4 p.m.

Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office discusses the robbery that led to the pursuit – West Virginia
KANAWHA COUNTY, W.Va. — A robbery that took place Tuesday night ended in a high-speed chase through Kanawha County.
Two people were involved in the pursuit last night. When deputies stopped the vehicle, they found Aaron Urban, 38, and his 15-year-old daughter.
Around 10:45 p.m. Tuesday night, dispatch received a call for an armed robbery in progress on Spencer Road in Clendenin at the 7-11. The suspect allegedly pulled out a shotgun and demanded money from the employee before he headed toward his vehicle.

Laurel man arrested following 27-mile pursuit in 2 counties – Kentucky
Feb. 15—A 27-mile pursuit from eastern Laurel County into Clay County last Thursday now has a Laurel man looking at felony charges, including wanton endangerment of police officers.
Gary Dean Smith, 55, of East Laurel Road in London, gave law enforcement officials a literal run for their lives after he tried to avoid a traffic checkpoint along Blackwater Road, six miles east of London.
Rather than stop for the traffic check, the Laurel County Sheriff’s Office reported that Smith pulled into a driveway nearby. When Sheriff’s Deputy Brent France and London Police Officer Joey Robinson approached the vehicle, Smith fled by driving his Chevy Tahoe through the residence’s yard and around the back of the house re-entering KY 80, and entered Clay County. Smith was reportedly brandishing a machete out the window at officers during the chase.

CHARLESTON COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – Charleston County deputies say delays are possible on I-26 eastbound near I-526 following a traffic stop and arrest that impacted traffic Wednesday morning.
“Deputies attempted to stop a vehicle believed to contain a man wanted on various arrest warrants,” said officials with the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office.
The car did not stop, and a pursuit ensued. Deputies said it came to an end near I-526 after the driver hit stop sticks.

Police have charged a 15-year-old boy following the alleged theft of a food delivery driver’s car in Cranbourne early this morning.
The driver left their vehicle running while delivering some food to a Tucker Street address about 12.15am.
An opportunistic thief has come across the car, allegedly jumping behind the wheel and driving off.
Police conducted patrols of the area and located the stolen vehicle, which was monitored overhead by the Air Wing as it reached alleged speeds of 150km/h.

New video shows pursuit, arrest of suspect accused of stealing sheriff’s pickup – Ohio
The Ohio Highway Patrol on Wednesday released dash cam video of a pursuit of a suspect accused of stealing a car, then while Richland County Sheriff’s Deputies were searching for him, speeding off in one of their cruisers.
A Wooster man was taken into custody following a 35-minute, high-speed pursuit throughout Richland County in the early morning hours of Valentine’s Day after the suspect reportedly stole a deputy’s new Ford F-150 cruiser.
The incident began when troopers from the Ashland post of the Ohio Highway Patrol started to pursue Arthur Cook Jr., 43, of Wooster on a report of a stolen vehicle out of Wooster. Troopers lost Cook about 12:10 a.m. in Richland County when the suspect allegedly began driving the wrong way on U.S. 30.

Police: Man stole U-Haul in EC, then led pursuit in Barron Co. with that vehicle – Ohio
EAU CLAIRE — An Eau Claire man stole a cargo van from U-Haul in Eau Claire and then led authorities in Barron County on a high-speed chase with the same vehicle two weeks later, authorities say.
Luke J. Shilts, 33, 3823 Paula Court, is charged in Eau Claire County Court with a felony count of theft of movable property.
Shilts will make his initial court appearance on March 1.

Teen driver allegedly led police on 150km/h chase after stealing food delivery driver’s car – Australia [Melbourne]
The teen allegedly stole the car from Tucker Street in Cranbourne about 12.15am after the delivery driver left it running while taking an order to a door.
Police found the car soon after and began a chase, with a police helicopter tracking the car as it allegedly reached speeds of 150km/h.
Officers laid out stop-sticks in Lynbrook, which punctured two of the car’s tyres.

LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. (WYMT) – What started out as a routine traffic checkpoint quickly turned into a police chase that went through part of two counties.
It happened just before 5 a.m. last Thursday on East KY 80 at Blackwater Road.
A Laurel County sheriff’s deputy and a London city police officer were set up doing a traffic safety checkpoint when the driver of an SUV saw the roadblock and pulled off in a driveway.
When the officers tried to check the vehicle, the driver, later identified as Gary Dean Smith, 55, of London, drove through the homes yard, waved a machete out the window, and took off on 80 toward Clay County.

2-13-23, Kent Police were involved in a pursuit of a subject with a felony warrant. Officers backed off while Guardian 1 took over calling the pursuit. The suspect ran over spike strips that were deployed on the road and crashed a short time later. No innocent motorists were injured. reports.

Older Woman Survives Strangling At Twin Oaks Apartments: Joliet Police – Illinois

JOLIET, IL — A 22-year-old Braidwood resident who was captured after Channahon police deployed stop sticks along Interstate 55, is now in the Will County Jail facing a $500,000 bail. Joliet police say James Rowland tried to strangle a 69-year-old female relative early Saturday morning in the 100 block of Twin Oaks Drive, before fleeing the scene of the crime.
Around 3:30 a.m. Saturday, Channahon authorities learned that police in Braidwood were trying to find Rowland’s Hyundai Sonata because Joliet police wanted to arrest him for aggravated battery.
