Dangerous Pursuit Ends With Man in Custody After Pointing Gun at Motorists Washington

Deputies with the Benton County Sheriff’s Office assisted Washington State Patrol after receiving reports of a man pointing a firearm at motorists and then firing the weapon into the air.

After the vehicle was located, the driver fled, leading officers on a chase from I-82 onto Coffin Road and eventually onto Nine Canyon/Haney Road. A spike strip maneuver was attempted to stop the vehicle, however, it was unsuccessful.

‘Super’ speeders on the rise in metro Atlanta Georgia

“Reckless speed has tremendously increased.”

So says a lieutenant with the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office (FCSO), about what he and his colleagues see out on the roads.

“We’ve seen a substantial increase of the speed – of the number itself as opposed to just people speeding,” Lt. Scotty Spriggs tells WSB Radio.

Take as example the work of the FCSO to chase-down and safely bring into custody a speeder in December. The department posted on Facebook the dash cam videos of an attempted traffic stop of a vehicle. The driver accelerates to 70 mph in a 35-mph zone near Buford Hwy. The car then hits over 100 mph trying to flee the deputy in pursuit. At one point, the suspect’s car was clocked at 144 mph on Georgia 400.

ST. CLAIR COUNTY, Mich. (CBS DETROIT) – A Florida man is charged after fleeing from law enforcement in St. Clair County and attempting to cross the Blue Water Bridge before turning around.

According to the St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office, Richard Tumminia, 44, of Spring Hill, Florida, was arraigned on three counts of fleeing and eluding, three counts of resisting and obstructing and operating while intoxicated.

High-speed Chase Ends in Pettis County Missouri

Early Thursday morning, Pettis County Deputies responded to the southern end of the county on US Highway 65 to assist Benton County Deputies who were in pursuit of a white Dodge Charger.

The driver was known by Benton County Deputies to have Parole Violation warrants on charges of felony Resisting Arrest, felony Receiving Stolen Property, and felony Possession of a Controlled Substance. He was also known to have removed his ankle monitor, which was placed on him by the Officer of Probation and Parole. The driver was throwing suspected narcotics from the vehicle.

On Thursday, a driver took Lebanon Police on a bit of a chase.

The Lebanon Police Department (LPD) says that on Thursday they received a report of a vehicle driving recklessly in the Carl’s Jr. parking lot at 525 Weldwood Drive, Lebanon. The caller reported to officials that the car was ‘driving in circles’ and drove over a curb.

LPD officers located the car, a blue Mazda Protege, and attempted to conduct a traffic stop. However, officials say the vehicle failed to stop for police and continued driving.

BOTETOURT COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — Virginia State Police say a driver led troopers on a high-speed chase in Botetourt County where officers were forced to use spike strips on February 2.

State Police tell WFXR News they attempted to pull a car over for allegedly going 20 miles per hour over the speed limit when the chase began. Police say speeds allegedly reached 92 miles per hour and spike strips were used to stop the vehicle in Rockbridge County.

NEWTON COUNTY, Mo. — A high-speed chase ends in Newton County, with two people in custody.

Earlier this afternoon (2/2), the Newton County Sheriff’s Office received information from Joplin Police about a suspect wanted for drugs and firearm’s warrants.

Sheriff’s deputies spotted the vehicle on Highway 43, and with the help of the Seneca Police Department, used spike strips to try and stop the car near “U” Highway. Law enforcement agents were able to find the car a short distance away, but it was empty.

On Thursday, Washington State Patrol troopers received a LoJack notification for a possible stolen truck in the Marysville area.

A trooper found the silver 2005 Ford F-150 with a man slumped behind the wheel at 83rd Avenue Northeast and 96th Street Northeast in Marysville. Additional troopers arrived and set up spike strips in case the driver tried to flee.

Antonio Harris, 25, who performs as La4ss, fled from police Feb. 16 as he was driving a Toyota Corolla on North Broadway in the city’s Baden neighborhood, according to court documents.

Officers used spike strips on the car’s tires, but it kept driving to Riverview Boulevard, where it eventually crashed in a median near Spring Garden Drive, according to court documents.

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — A woman is in custody after leading police on an 85-mile chase Thursday night from Beaumont all the way to downtown Houston.

Beaumont police told ABC13 the woman is from Louisiana and has been diagnosed with dementia.

Police tried to pull her over after the woman’s daughter called officers worried about her safety, but the woman fled on I-10.

The chase reached speeds over 100 miles per hour. It eventually ended at Franklin and Smith Street when state troopers deployed spike strips, according to police.

State Police tell WFXR News that the chase began in Martinsville and reached speeds over 110 miles per hour. The chase ended on Route 58 going toward Patrick County when spike strips were used to stop the vehicle.

Missing Florida Lyft driver’s car found with slaying suspect North Carolina

A man has been arrested after a police vehicle was struck by a stolen tow truck at Laverton North this morning.

Officers spotted the truck on the side of Boundary Road at about 3 am with a man asleep inside.

Police allege the driver woke up and attempted to drive away.

Stop sticks were deployed before the vehicle reversed into a police vehicle.

The 34-year-old driver has been taken to the hospital under police guard.

This is the third time Detective Cheney has received this award, which is a testament to his strong work ethic and positive impact he has on his co-workers.

Detective Cheney spent a good portion of December as OIC (Officer in charge) on his patrol shift. As OIC, he responded to an agency assist call from North Las Vegas for the deployment of stop sticks on Interstate 15 for a homicide suspect that fled from NLVPD.

WELLINGTON, Kan. —  A police chase initiated in Wellington resulted in the arrest of Ponca City resident Owen Eugene Legleiter, 18, on Monday afternoon.

The car chase started when Wellington Police discovered Legleiter was driving a stolen vehicle.  Wellington officers called off the pursuit, and Conway Springs police resumed the chase, ending just southeast of Clearwater at around 3 p.m.

With two passengers in the vehicle, Clearwater officers deployed stop sticks which flattened the vehicle’s back tire near 111th St. South and 119th St. West.

A multi-jurisdiction police chase came to an end in Port Huron early yesterday morning, resulting in a man’s arrest. According to the St. Clair County Sheriff’s office, a black Chevrolet Impala wanted by authorities in Sanilac County was spotted on 24th Avenue in Fort Gratiot Township shortly after midnight. A St. Clair County Sheriff’s deputy pursued the vehicle, with the driver of the vehicle ignoring the deputies’ lights and sirens. The suspect then attempted to enter the Blue Water Bridge where he turned around and fled westbound on I-94, traveling in the wrong direction for a short period of time.

One of the teens attempted to run from deputies but was caught by a K-9.

LAMAR — A 42-year-old Elizabethtown man is facing aggravated assault and other charges after a high speed chase along Interstate 80 in Porter Township on Jan. 29, state police at Lamar said.

Police began the pursuit of a Honda Civic, driven by Joseph Fisher, along the roadway when Fisher failed to yeild to emergency lights and sirens, police said.

The pursuit spanned between mile marker 175 and mile marker 147, with Fisher allegedly ramming his vehicle into a police cruiser before continuing to flee, police said.

Wentzell sentenced him in accordance with the plea deal.

In a news release, the Portage Police Department said an officer stopped the 18-year-old on New Pinery Road around 2:50 p.m. and smelled marijuana in the man’s vehicle. The officer then learned the man had a history of possessing a stolen gun, driving a stolen vehicle and fleeing and eluding law enforcement.

A Salina man is facing charges of domestic battery and kidnapping after allegedly punching his girlfriend.

Police Captain Paul Forrester tells KSAL News that 38-year-old Jason Lytle was arrested following a chase on Friday. Police say the charges link back to abusive behavior on three occasions in mid and late December.

Lytle reportedly punched the 23-year-old female victim in the face, and tried to strangle her during a couple of domestic disputes.
