Cedar Falls pursuit ends with 3 cruisers damaged, suspect in custody – Iowa

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa — Stop sticks and a foot chase helped bring an end to a high-speed chase through Cedar Falls and Waterloo. It happened just after 11:35pm Saturday night when authorities were alerted to a reckless driver along University Avenue.
An officer says the suspect passed him at a high rate of speed, beginning the chase. Several other units from a number of agencies joined the pursuit that sped down Highway 58, Highway 20, before heading south on Ansborough, east on Schrock and south on Dysart Road.
After disabling the car with stop sticks, the suspect reportedly pulled into a driveway and tried to run away.

Sheriff: Known drug dealer captured after discarding fentanyl during pursuit – Florida
A “long-time Citrus County drug dealer” who attempted to elude authorities during a high-speed chase before authorities disabled his vehicle with stop sticks was apprehended in the early morning hours Thursday, Jan. 19, according to a Citrus County Sheriff’s Office arrest affidavit and late Friday, Jan. 20, Facebook post.
Matthew Mullins, 40, Homosassa was charged with one count of trafficking in methamphetamine, one count of trafficking in fentanyl, one count of possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell, one count of tampering with evidence, one count of fleeing/eluding a law enforcement officer and one count of possession of drug paraphernalia. His bond was set at $113,000.

FARGO, N.D. (Valley News Live) – A 39-year-old woman was arrested Saturday morning by the Dilworth Police Dept. after leading officers on a chase. Bobbi Wendt was booked on numerous charges in regard to drugs, alcohol and fleeing from an officer in a motor vehicle.
According to Dilworth PD, an officer tried to stop Wendt who was driving on Center Ave. E. While she drove the speed limit, she didn’t stop until spike strips were used on Hwy 36. Wendt has been charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, DWI, shoplifting and fleeing from an officer in a motor vehicle.

PLEASANTON, CA — Pleasanton police arrested three suspects accused of stealing a car and possessing AR-15-style rifles during a rainstorm last week.
As rain poured down, Pleasanton police located a stolen car located near a shopping center. According to a police report, they saw a person walk out of the car wearing a ski mask. Police chased the car, which fled and drove over a spike strip.
The car drove for a bit on I-580, but exited at El Charro due to a blown tire. Three people ran out of the car and abandoned it in a nearby plaza. Officers canvassing the area saw the trio running behind a store, and a chase began.

Police have arrested six people following a pursuit through Dandenong in the early hours of this morning.
An allegedly stolen red Audi sedan was first spotted by police on the South Gippsland Highway in Cranbourne about 3.30am.
With assistance from the Air Wing, the car was followed through Dandenong and stop sticks were successfully deployed on Gladstone Road.
The vehicle came to a stop on Gerald Street where six people allegedly fled the scene on foot.
A 13-year-old Noble Park boy, a 14-year-old Keyborough boy, a 15-year-old Packenham girl, a 15-year-old Pakenham boy, a 16-year-old Pakenham boy and an 18-year-old Berwick man were arrested nearby.

New Haven police chief, mayor discuss game-changing ways to combat violent crime – Connecticut

NEW HAVEN — A rapid DNA testing machine, GPS tracking devices shot from the bumpers of police cruisers, and License Plate Recognition cameras are some of the approaches city officials are taking to combat violent crime, Police Chief Karl Jacobson said this week.
Jacobson and Mayor Justin Elicker spoke at police headquarters to discuss the city’s multi-pronged approach to combating violent crime. The city has seen a recent uptick in gun violence in particular, with four homicides occurring less than three weeks into the new year.
Jacobson outlined several innovative new technologies he said will be a “game-changer” for the Police Department’s ability to both prevent and solve violent incidents. According to Jacobson, the department has received a rapid DNA testing machine that will produce results in about 24 to 48 hours compared to the six to eight weeks investigators currently have to wait.

A 22-year-old St. Paul woman is accused of carjacking a Good Samaritan while he tried to help two people involved in a crash on Monday.
Sydney Ann McKellepp allegedly pushed the man and sped off in his SUV on eastbound Interstate 94 at around 11:10 p.m., leading police on a pursuit before her eventual arrest.
Court records show McKellepp had two warrants out for her arrest prior to the incident.

Tulsa Police Arrest 3 Teens Accused Of Leading Officers On Chase In Stolen Vehicle – Oklahoma
Tulsa Police say three teenagers are in custody on Friday morning accused of leading officers on a chase in a stolen car.
Tulsa Police say it all started around 11:15 p.m. on Thursday night after an officer spotted a car that matched the description of a vehicle that had been stolen. Police say officers planned to call for the helicopter and more officers before trying to stop the car, but the driver took off, leading officers on a pursuit.
Officers say the driver ran over stop sticks during the chase and lost control and crashed into a pickup truck that was parked outside of an apartment complex near 21st and Memorial. Police say the three teens fled from the car but were later caught and taken into custody.

A 52-year-old Houston woman remained Friday in the Brown County Jail after a pursuit that began in Brownwood, traveled nearly to Bangs and returned nearly back to Brownwood. The pursuit ended when deputies deployed spikes strips, flattening the vehicle’s tires, Brownwood police said.
Thanh Duong Ben-Mansour was booked into the Brown County Jail on a charge of evading arrest/detention with a vehicle, Brown County Jail records state.
Police said via email:
At 1:20 p.m. Thursday, Brownwood police received a report of a reckless driver traveling west in the 300 block of Commerce. The initial caller reported the vehicle traveling in the middle lane as well as across multiple lanes while being followed.

A 20-mile police chase that spanned two counties ended with a car catching on fire in Morganton.
A man allegedly stole a car and wouldn’t pull over in Lenoir. A chase ensued and the car caught fire in downtown Morganton after being heavily damaged, police said.
Man accused of DWI in Burke County head-on crash faced similar charges in the past
“I was like, ‘What in the world?’” said Tim Sprouse, the owner of City Muffler. “The next thing I know, a car came by here and it was on fire. And I think every police officer in three counties was chasing it.”

GLENDALE, Wis. – Four people were arrested after Glendale police chased a stolen vehicle Thursday afternoon, Jan. 19.
Glendale police said around 2 p.m., officers tried stopping the Ford Fusion stolen out of Milwaukee near 13th and Silver Spring. The driver sped off, and police deployed stop sticks.
The four people inside the Fusion ditched the vehicle near 43rd and Clinton and ran off. All four males from Milwaukee, ages 20, 17 and 16, were arrested.

–RACINE COUNTY, Wis. (CBS 58) — A man suspected of being a “serial burglar” in Racine County was arrested after fleeing police at speeds in excess of 100 mph.
A Racine County Sheriff’s Deputy was monitoring a gas station in the Town of Wind Lake following a recent stretch of at least five burglaries in the area. A suspect vehicle was identified and then seen circling the Wind Lake County Market parking lot.
Reports state that 38-year-old Joseph A. Zupan was the vehicle’s driver and was stopped for an equipment violation. Officials noticed that his clothing matched that of the suspect of the burglaries.

High-speed chase in Rowan Co. leads to break-in charges – North Carolina

SALISBURY, N.C. (WBTV) – A suspect in multiple car break-ins was arrested in Rowan County after a high-speed chase Wednesday morning.
According to the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office, the chase started when a deputy tried to stop a 2014 BMW that was said to be driving 100 miles per hour in a 70 mph zone.
Deputies say the driver of the car sped up and reached speeds of 120 mph.
Stop sticks were used around the area of Webb Road to flatten the car’s tires. Deputies say that when the car ran off the road and stopped, multiple occupants ran from the scene.

Laurel man charged with felonies after pursuit – Delaware
LAUREL – Keivon Quailes, 29, of Laurel was arrested on numerous felony charges after he attempted to flee from a traffic stop with a gun in his possession Monday, Delaware State Police said.
Spokesman Master Cpl. Leonard DeMalto said that at approximately 2:43 p.m., a trooper on patrol in Laurel observed a tan Mercury Montego traveling eastbound on Laurel Road approaching Old Stage Road. A computer check of the Mercury’s registration showed that the tag belonged to a gray Chrysler Sebring, not a Mercury Montego, police said.

Man Arrested After Allegedly Leading Oklahoma City Police On Overnight Chase – Oklahoma
A man is in custody on Tuesday morning accused of leading Oklahoma City police on an overnight chase.
According to police, officers had initially attempted to stop the suspect for a traffic violation, but he refused to pull over for officers, leading them on a pursuit.
Police say after a long chase, the suspect eventually hit a spike strip near Mid America Boulevard and Southeast 29th Street at around midnight, which brought his car to a halt. The suspect then refused to exit his vehicle and officers fired a non-lethal round inside, forcing the suspect out.

SIOUX CITY (KTIV) – A Sioux City man has been sentenced to more than four years in federal prison. 37-year-old Luis Gomez of Sioux City had threatened two women by pointing a loaded gun at them in a Sioux City bar
According to a news release from the United States Attorney for Northern Iowa, Gomez was a felon in unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition.
According to police reports, on Dec. 9, 2021 Gomez entered a bar on Sioux City’s west side and threatened to shoot them
When police were called to the bar, Gomez and another person, fled the scene at a high rate of speed. During the pursuit, officers observed an object thrown out of the passenger side window during the chase. Officers deployed stop sticks, which ultimately ended the pursuit.

LA GRANGE, Ky. (WAVE) – An Ohio man is facing multiple charges after leading police on a high speed chase that went down Interstate 71 at speeds of more than 100 mph.
Grant Persiani, 20, of Cincinnati, was arrested by Kentucky State Police and was booked into the Oldham County Detention Center.
Around 1 p.m. January 17, a KSP trooper saw a white Jeep with Ohio plates heading south in Henry County around the 31 mile marker, about three miles south of the Campbellsburg exit. Deputies in Carroll County had requested officers be on the lookout for the Jeep because a vehicle registration check revealed the license plate on the Jeep belonged to an Infiniti.

Suspect arrested after high-speed chase, fentanyl found, Van Buren County deputies say – Australia
VAN BUREN COUNTY, Mich. — A 27-year-old Sterling Heights man in possession of fentanyl was arrested after a high-speed chase, according to the Van Buren County Sheriff’s Department.
Around 12:45 a.m. on Wednesday, Van Buren County Central Dispatch received a phone call from a semi-truck driver who was following a white pick-up, driven by Gino Miller, who was driving erratically on the roadway, according to deputies.

Over $1,000 worth of groceries was reported stolen from a business in the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue at 11 p.m. on Jan. 17. Officers located and stopped the suspect’s vehicle. Officers placed a Stop Stick under the suspect’s tire in case the suspect decided to flee, according to the Centralia Police Department. The suspect fled from the traffic stop, but due to the Stop Stick, the vehicle’s tire was deflated. The vehicle was located a few blocks away. The suspect was identified as Adrian Garcia, 22, of Centralia. Garcia had not been located as of Wednesday morning. There is probable cause to arrest Garcia for second-degree theft and eluding, according to the Centralia Police Department.

PARKERSBURG, W.Va. (WTAP) – One person was arrested Tuesday afternoon following a pursuit with police beginning in Jackson County and ending in Wood County.
According to Jackson County 911 officials, around 12:21 p.m., a chase began at the 146.5-mile marker on I-77 Northbound in Jackson County.
A deputy attempted a traffic stop on a 2022 Silver Chevy Malibu with Connecticut license plates.
The driver then took off, exceeding speeds of 120 miles per hour.

We received a report from Sheriff Len Hagaman about a Boone Officer attempting to stop a vehicle 421 at a Food Lion last night.
The vehicle refused to stop and the Boone Officer chased them into Wilkesboro City. Highway patrol deployed spike strips and took out the Boone units tires. Wilkesboro deployed spike strips and suspect vehicle hit spikes. Wilkes continued to chase the vehicle till it wrecked on 421 past Brushy Fork road. All three occupants were arrested and the car they were driving came back as stolen. Hamptons towed the stolen car and the Boone patrol car back to Boone.

The Delaware State Police have arrested 29-year-old Keivon Quailes of Laurel, Delaware on numerous felony charges after he attempted to flee from a traffic stop with a gun in his possession.

DENVER — The Nebraska State Patrol said two Colorado juveniles — ages 13 and 11 — led troopers on a high-speed chase, reaching speeds of more than 100 mph on Interstate 80 Monday night.
The juveniles — a 13-year-old female driver and an 11-year-old male passenger — were taken into protective custody after a trooper used a “tactical vehicle intervention” to bring the chase to an end near Shelton, Nebraska, according to a news release from the agency.
Troopers located a firearm in the vehicle as well as a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, troopers with the Nebraska State Patrol said in the release.

A woman was arrested for allegedly stealing a car from a dealership on Thursday.
According to Fairfield police, officers responded to a parking lot in the 400 block of Pacific Avenue shortly after 10 a.m. They were notified by a Suisun car dealership employee that a stolen car was located in the lot.
The driver, Nequisha Herbert, refused to get out of the stolen vehicle and took off.
A chase occurred, and the suspect ran over spike strips laid out by law enforcement. Herbert parked the car and was caught by the police after trying to flee on foot.

(LEX 18) — A man has been arrested after authorities say he led officers on a chase with a stolen vehicle.
Georgetown police say shortly after 10:00 a.m. Monday, officers attempted to locate a stolen vehicle driven by 38-year-old Glenn McCormick, a known suspect with multiple warrants for his arrest. Officers found the stolen vehicle within the hour at a trailer park on Georgetown Road.
Not long after, police say McCormick backed into a marked police Tahoe, striking it. He then allegedly accelerated forward to split the gap between a marked police cruiser and a bulldozer. Police say McCormick was unsuccessful and side-swiped a police cruiser, which had to be towed.

WILKES COUNTY, N.C. —
Three people were arrested after leading police on a pursuit in a stolen SUV Sunday night, Boone Police said.
Boone Police said officers saw an SUV speeding and swerving in and out of traffic on US 421 South near Industrial Drive at 11:56 p.m. Police said the SUV had been stolen from South Carolina and did not have a registration plate displayed.
An officer tried to stop the driver, later identified by police as Harry Kurtis Joyner II, 39, from Charlotte, near Landfill Road, but the driver did not stop, and a pursuit began.
Police said Joyner led officers through Wilkes County and authorities there used stop sticks, but he kept going until he crashed near mile marker 283 on US 421 South.

WHITESTOWN, Ind. — A man wanted for a parole violation and terrorist threats in two states was caught Monday in Indiana.
Whitestown Police say Marcus Curtis, a 26-year-old man from Columbus, Ohio, was spotted weaving through traffic Monday morning around 3 o’clock on I-65 southbound near the I-865 dogleg. A police officer tried to pull him over because he thought Curtis may be drunk driving, but Curtis did not pull over.
